Five problems related to steering wheel vibrate have been reported for the 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Anytime I am driving on the highway and I hit a minor bump in the road the steering wheel shakes extremely violently. When this happens the only fix is to slow down to below 25 mph in my current lane. Once I get to that low of a speed the shaking stops. When the shaking occurs it is so violent that I can't change lanes or get onto the shoulder. Therefore, the only option is to slow down to under 25 mph on the highway in my current lane which isn't safe. This problem started happening in December 2016.
Travelling on a straight road at approximately 50-60mph, hit a small bump in the road. The steering wheel began to shake a little then violently and almost lost control of the Jeep. I had to come to a compete stop in the middle of the road before the shaking would stop. I was scared too death. I had the Jeep checked over and nothing was broken or worn. Now afraid to drive the vehicle. There are many complaints on this site as well as the internet for the same issue. When will this be addressed before someone gets killed?.
While driving on the interstate the vehicle began shaking and the steering wheel shaking uncontrollably. It is not the first time it has happened and the dealership tells me that there is nothing wrong but obviously there is. I see all over about people all having the same problem. My vehicle is completely stock this should not happen. There needs to be something done about this problem before someone gets seriously hurt.
I was driving my 2009 Jeep Wrangler at speed of 45 mph and it started to shake violently from side to side. The steering wheel was shaking also and it took alot to keep the Jeep in control. Had to pull the car to the side of the road. It seem to stop after I pulled over and I slowly drove home the rest of the way. My concern is this seems to be a common problem for Jeeps and there are many videos on the internet. Why hasn't there been a recall and no reports of this problem. I have less than 14,000 miles on this Jeep and it is only a year old. I also had my mother and 15 yr old son with me and can confirm this incident.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician advised the contact that a wheel alignment would need to be performed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs on several occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.
