64 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Since I bought the vehicle I must be careful I cannot fill my tank. It overflows and spills creating a hazardous environment that is dangerous to my family and others. Yesterday in the pump it got seriously dangerous when the the spill ran out of control.
I was fueling the vehicle and the fuel just overflows out of the tank as though there is no stop. After the fuel gushes out of the neck of the gas tank. The issue was once a rare issue but now occurs every single time I fuel the vehicle. I fear that this may be a fire hazard and it is certainly a safety issue with fuel emerging from the tank. It first occured in 2010 when the vehicle was new but it was rare. The issue now happens bi-weekly and has happened weekly since 2011.
Every time I fill up my tank the fuel overfills and spills on the Jeep. I have been to numerous gas stations with the same results.
Every time I fill my gas tank, it overfills. The first time I thought it was the gas pump but it has done it consistently for the last 2 months. I have filled up at different stations and every single time it sprays out all over the body/rear bumper.
The gas will overflow, spill out, when I fill up the gas tank. The nozzle shuts off and gas spills out after shut off. I took the vehicle to the dealer, they diagnosed a bad valve in the tank which would require the tank to be removed/replaced.
I purchased my 2010 Wrangler new. The last three times I have filled my fuel tank, gas has spewed out of the tank immediately after the nozzle clicked off. It seems to be coming from a build-up of pressure inside of the gas tank because the gas comes back out of the tank forcefully even if the nozzle is still in the tank. The first time this happened to me I had to go home to change clothes and to wash the gasoline off of my legs. I thought it was something I had done wrong. I have since filled up two more times and I have used different pumps at different gas stations with the same result. This happened again today (01/21/14), and the station attendant rushed out to clean up the fuel that was spilled because there was so much on the ground and again, I had gas spewed on me. I feel this is a very dangerous situation and should be addressed in some way by Chrysler.
The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was refueling the vehicle when spilled out of the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
When fueling up at the gas pumps, if you put the pump on auto, the pump handle will shutoff when the tank is full, but spews about a half gallon of fuel back up and out on the vehicle and your hand (if on the pump handle). Does it every time. Only work around I have come up with is to fuel up, close to full, then slowly feather up to full, or on lowest pump setting. Otherwise you have fuel dumping out all over, which is a safety concern.
When refueling, when the fuel filler nozzle clicks off, there is a gush of fuel that spouts out of the fuel tank filler neck for a second or two. It has now become consistent, regardless of when or where the vehicle is refueled (at 6000' or 3000', on 75 degree days or 30). This problem did not occur before this past summer, and was intermittent until about this October. It now occurs anytime the filler is allowed to click off. It behaves as if the fuel tank is not venting as fuel is delivered. When the delivery is cut off, the pressure in the tank, increased through introduction of fuel without an equivalent reduction in volume of air, expels the fuel remaining in the filler neck until equalized. This is speculation on my part but plausibly describes the observed behavior.
Every time I fill the guel tank up it overflows. Does not matter if I manually fill or use the auto fill. This has happened the last 4 times I put gas in the fuel tank.
My 2010 Jeep Wrangler overflows gasoline every time the tank is filled up. This hasn't happened only once, it has been going on over the course of a couple of months. The first time it happened, I was at a full gas station, so someone was pumping my gas for me and I thought something was wrong with their tanks but soon the problem became more and more frequent and at different gas stations. Now, it has gotten to the point where, even though the tank is nowhere near full, it does not allow me to put any more gas into the tank and overflows so much gas there is a huge puddle on the floor. I am afraid to fill up my tank now, for it has splattered on my clothes, shoes, legs, etc and I am paying for gas that is literally going to waste, on top of that, this is a huge safety issue!! I did not pay for a $30,000+ car to have to keep taking it back to the dealership to have it fixed.
I own a 2010 Jeep Wrangler sahara. Every time I fill my tank with fuel, the pump doesn't shut off on time. The result causes gas to overflow, spraying out of the tank and pouring down the side of my vehicle.
When fueling my Jeep, pressure builds in the tank/lines & fuel sprays onto paint & ground potentially causing a fire if a spark is encountered. It takes 5-10 minutes to refuel if you dont want this to occur. . .
Gas pours out of gas tank every time I fill up.
When refueling, the pump handle clicks off at the appropriate time the tank should be full. However when you pull the pump handle out of the filler neck, the fuel continues to flow as if it were not shut off. This overflow causes fuel to spew out of the filler neck on the car and surrounding area.
I purchased a 2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited in may 2010. In January 2013, the fuel system does not respond to a shut-off mechanism. Gasoline overflows the tank and spills down the side onto the pavement. It doesn't matter if I use the lowest setting on the gas pump or if I manually use as little pressure as possible; it overfills every single time and gas pours out of the fill spout running down the body of the vehicle on my hand on my clothes and on the ground. The Jeep has more than 30,000 miles and is no longer under warranty. ## VIN failed ##.
Gas tank overflows during refill.
The last time two times I filled my gas tank, at two different gas stations, there was a backsplash of gasoline after the pump automatically stopped. I did not try to top off. As I pulled the nozzle out of the tank, about a cup or two of gas splashed out over the fender, my fingers, and onto the ground. The first time I assumed it was a freak incident from the pump, but as it happened a second time today at a different gas station, it seems to be an issue with the vehicle.
Every time I filled my gas tank starting about a month ago, at several different gas stations, there was a overflow of gasoline after the pump automatically stopped. I did not try to top off. As I pulled the nozzle out of the tank, several cups of gas spewed out of the filler tube.
When fueling vehicle tank fill spills out the fuel neck. Fuel spills on ground. Also have check engine light on that codes fuel system problem. Talked to dealership they advise there is no problems with the system.
When I fill up my car gas spills out at the end. It started a couple of months after I bought it but then it stopped. The last month it has gotten extremely worse. I saw that later model Jeeps had this problem and that there was a recall. Mine was doing exactly the same as the recall vehicles, but I was told that I was not eligible for the recall and would have to pay for the replacement tank. I had an extended warranty, but I do not feel that I should have to pay a dime for a continued part problem.
Every time I fill the gas tank it overflows pouring gas all over the side of the car, the ground, and my clothes. This happens at every station so I know it isn't the pump. No matter what I do, this happens. I am 100% certain there is a problem with the tank. I have been driving for almost 40 years and have never seen this happen before to any of my other cars.
Every time I've filled up the gas tank, no matter if I do it automatic setting or manual with the lowest setting pressure while pumping. The gas overflows every time. I've tried several gas pumps, adjusted the setting of the pump inside the tank, it still overflows every time. I spoke with the dealership of this issue and they said that my 2010 year model was not covered for the recall when I've heard from fellow owners of the 2010 model having the same problem but they just opt to not fill up the tank while pumping and just stop midway.
Fuel tank spits out gas after auto fill at fuel-ups, dealer cant find anything wrong with tank. Spoke with Chrysler, without a diagnosis, they say it is a annoyance and not necessarily a safety concern.
Every time I fuel my 2010 Jeep Wrangler the fuel just overflows and spews out of the tank as though there is no stopping. This is an extremely dangerous defect from the factory. This not only possesses an extreme threat to human life but an extreme threat to the environment and the property of the fuel station owners. I fear that this is an extreme fire hazard and it is certainly a safety issue with fuel emerging from the tank and spilling all over the ground. This issue happens on almost all Jeep Wranglers from 2007-2011. But I guess people have to die first before Chrysler will do anything about it.
Every time I fill my fuel tank with gas, it never shuts off and it spits it back out.
Every time I fill my Wrangler with fuel, the tank overflows after the click, sometimes spilling as much as a 1/2 gallon of fuel on the side of the vehicle and all over the ground. It does not matter if I slow down to a trickle. As soon as I hear the click, gas goes everywhere. I am genuinly concerned about the safety hazard as this happens each time I fill up.
The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the fuel tank did not have a sensor; therefore, every time fuel was pumped and the tank was filled, fuel spilled out. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 900.
Never knew that this was an issue until recently but for 5 years, since the first fill up of gas, the automatic shut off on the pump pops followed by a spurting of gasoline out of my tank. It gets everywhere. On me, my clothes, my shoes, the ground, not to mention all over the side of my Jeep and the fender.
