Two problems related to transmission failure have been reported for the 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2010 Jeep jk Wrangler transmission oil overheats when vehicle is engaged in 4wd. This could cause transmission failure, particularly on mountainous terrain where the possibility of a fatality could occur. Chrysler has issued a recall noting that this condition could occur. The "fix" is an audible chime in addition to the warning light on the instrument panel instead of addressing the root of the problem such as the addition of a larger oil cooler, oil pan with larger capacity to keep oil cooler, or some other repair.
