Check engine light came on, with a p0302 #2 cylinder misfire reading. After replacing consumable parts (spark plugs, engine coil) reset engine light, the code p0302 returned after 15-20 miles driving. 5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

While driving my 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited recently, all of a sudden my check engine light comes on & shortly after my abs & traction control lights go on as well. I've had the car checked twice & no one can seem to give me an answer on what the problem is. They've went off since but came back on a day later. It's beyond frustrating especially when I see so many people with similar problems yet no recalls? for the cost of these cars, I can't understand why there's so many with issues. Also while I'm at it I should note that my heating & defrost completely stopped working. I live in upstate NY & my mileage is currently 109k.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Check engine illuminated in mid-2017, but no codes were present and Jeep appeared to run fine. In sept 2017, while driving on I-75, the Jeep shuddered and the electronic throttle control light came on, along with the anti-lock brake system light. I took it to the Jeep dealership immediately, but they couldn't figure out the problem because the lights had turned off. They ended up swapping out the spark plugs and two ignition coils. The check engine light came back on a few days later. I was able to pull codes for the throttle position system 1 and 2. In oct 2017, the vehicle jumped/shuddered and stopped running. I had to coast to the shoulder and leave it sit for 10 minutes. I was able to restart the vehicle and drive it a local repair shop where they were unable to pull any codes and based off of my description of the issues, replaced the pedal assembly and cleared the codes. They said if the issue came back to replace the battery. The issue came back within 5 minutes of leaving the automotive garage, so I changed the battery in November. After that, the check engine light when away, but would come back on sporadically. The Jeep was still shuddering/jumping and would then completely stop after the check engine light, the electronic throttle control, and the anti-lock brake system notification, still. I just took it to another garage (aril 2018), since the previous two had no idea what the issue was. At this point I was still pulling throttle position 1 and 2 codes. This garage replaced the entire throttle body and ran a fuel injection service. Within 15 minutes of me driving away from that garage, the check engine light came on, followed by a softer shudder of the vehicle and the electronic throttle control light. I tried to pull codes when I got home, but there were none--but the check engine light and the electronic throttle control light are still on.

2012 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited. Chrysler group llc is betting on the fact that each and every person filling out this NHTSA form clicks the 'no one died & no one got hurt' button so a recall will never be issued! that is their fix! approximately twice a month years 2016 to present, while driving on city streets or highways at any speed, Jeep has lost speed quickly and has concurrently lost the ability to accelerate. It feels as if the engine is bogging down. Simultaneously the check engine light will illuminate. Have to immediately pull off the road each time. The Jeep has never turned off nor stalled. The problem has always fixed itself after a few moments on the side of the road. Each and every time, the check engine light turns off by itself. I have taken the Jeep in for service to my long time trusted mechanic. The mechanic could not replicate nor find a code. Because of the risk of fire that I read about plaguing these Jeep models, I feel very afraid to drive my Jeep anywhere let alone go off into the wilderness offroading. I have read hundreds of similar stories on sites such as this. I cannot believe nothing, not one thing has been done about it. Shame on Chrysler for turning a blind eye but will take your money to diagnose the problem for days and months knowing what the exact issue is. Again, Chrysler is betting on the fact everyone of us will click the NHTSA boxes that say no one was injured and no one died. That way, no recall will ever be issued. Chrysler group llc hopes you are out of warranty, if not, they will push until you run out. Then they blame rodents chewing on wires etc. . . Ludicrous.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2017

Check engine light and hill assist always lit. Dealer constantly resetting and I was repeatedly told not to worry as it is probably "bad gasoline. " now, no acceleration and is more pronounced when on an incline ie highway entrance ramp. Presently, one week into diagnostics and repairs with present diagnosis being "probably" cam shaft phasers. Important to note engine repairs previously done one month of ownership on brand new vehicle. In addition, engine light has been on while in warranty but told not to worry. Now, almost complete engine rebuild. Jeep will not assist even though engine light has been on and reported to dealer (and documented) while in warranty. Vehicle purchased brand new, never used "four wheeling" or utilized to tow. Mileage reflects ~ highway travel. Religiously maintained through dealership.

9 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

On or about the 10th of March 2015 I took my vehicle to the dealer because the check engine light came on. The dealer turned the light off and I made apt for a separate problem which was a recall notice. The dealer said they would take care of the engine light problem when I brought the vehicle back for the recall. When I took it back the dealer said the vehicle is now out of warranty as of the 14th of March. I advised I understand the date however I brought the vehicle in and you turned the light off now you are telling me I have to pay 180. 00 to check the problem because warranty is over. Turns out there is a problem with the left head of the engine and the #4 cylinder is experiencing a misfire. I called the dealer where I bought the Jeep, it is 400 miles away, I moved since the purchase, they advise there is a problem with the engine, they describe it and said it would be a warranty item which is covered for 6 years. I can not drive the vehicle 400 miles to have the repairs done and I need help with getting sahara Chrysler Jeep Dodge in las vegas to repair the problem. The problem is (x56) 3. 6 left cylinder head.

10 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

Bad left head, known problem with pentastar engine. Check engine light came on. Codes indicated misfire on cylinders. Inspection revealed a bad left head.

11 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

The (rhd) vehicle check engine light and traction control (skid) light come on regularly while driving straight on dry roads and when the traction control light is on it causes the vehicle to slow speed. When driving over 40 mph, it takes a while to gain speed and if you let off gas it jerks like you are driving a standard transmission. I recently had the powertrain control module replaced costing myself over $600 and it still does the same thing. I have made a stop at a stop sign before and this Jeep died and started right back. Occasionally the gascap light comes on and stays for a couple days and then goes away. Another strange thing that happens a lot is the temperature on dash is set to fahrenheit, but often I have to change it back because I will look and its showing celcius. The most recent thing that happened scared even my children. I had just took off at a 4-way intersection on highway and while gaining speed with no lights on, I reached about 40 mph and it just jerked as hard as it could and then check engine light and traction control light come on causing us to almost get run over by the peope behind us gaining speed because we were being slowed down by this event. This is by far the strangest vehicle I've ever owned, sometimes there are no lights, sometimes just check engine or gascap light is on, and sometimes the check engine and traction control lights are on at the same time. You never know what you are gonna get on any given day. I have taken it to dealer again for the 6th time but they dont seem to be very knowledgable or have any idea why this is happening.

12 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2014

Vehicle check engine light comes on and vehicle losses power. This occurred on a highway at 65mph, the cel came on while on cruise control. At that moment the vehicle decelerated from 65mph to about 40mph with no notice. This was an unsafe condition for all occupants of the vehicle including a 16 month baby. The vehicle was almost struct by an semi truck from behind, who had to lock its wheels to avoid a collision. This will be the 10th time the cel was been illuminate, but this was the first time for an incident of this manner. The manufacture and dealership seems uncaring of the event and process to make the vehicle safe.

13 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

At 26,000 miles the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership, they reset the light and told me the 4th cylinder misfired, but everything is fine now. One week later it did it again. Now they are telling me it needs a new cylinder. After reading the other postings, it will be sold ASAP. I am not chancing going over the 36000 mile warranty and having it happen again. Nope. . . It's gone. . . I am very sad because I love my Jeep. :-(.

14 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2013

Check engine. Light came on . Took it to dealer. Dealer said the computer was reading # 2 cylinder mis- fire. The dealer said that my on board computer didn't take a forced upload of new software from Chrysler, so they did it in shop. They said that would fix it. On may 13th while sitting in line at the bank, the check engine light came back on, drove to dealers second location. At that location I was told that the motor needed major work the #2 cylinder, rocker arm, and cylinder head need to be replaced.

15 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2013

Windshield wipers come on randomly while driving. Service states there is nothing they can do. Check engine light also on. Service repaired cracked cylinder head. 5 days later check engine light is back on.

16 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2012

I bought my 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport in November 2011. It was working just fine until the summer of 2012 when my wipers would turn on all by themselves for a few seconds, and then off again. This happened several more times during the summer. In addition, the radio would just power off. The only way it would come back on was to hit the top of the dash and it powered back on. Took it in and they flashed a module which stopped the wiper issue but not the radio problem. This was July 2012. After that in same month, I noticed an engine light came on solid. Took it in, they reset it saying it was a cylinder #2 misfire. People on Wranglerforums. Com were talking about it too (see jk section and look for "ticking pentastar" thread). It was the biggest thread actually. Apparently, over a hundred owners on just this site alone had to have their head replaced. Wtf? the light came back on a couple days later so I took it back in. They confirmed the same result and told me they would order a new head. The local dealer here in savannah (hoover) told me it was in. Took in the Jeep and they said it would take 2-3 days. Big lie. After 3 days, I called to get status and they told me it would be 2-3 weeks!!! there were several people in front of me with same issue and only one guy fixing them. With a major issue like this on a brand new vehicle, this calls for a class-action lawsuit. I get small glitches happening but a new head??? they did not change anything on the 2013's so this will likely be a huge headache for Jeep. Be warned!!!!.
