Radiator problems of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Eight problems related to radiator have been reported for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2020

Transmission full of antifreeze. Internal transmission cooler (in radiator) failed. Caused transmission to fail.

2 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

The heater on my Jeep, which only has 41,000 miles on it, slowly stopped working. I took it to the dealer to have them check it out. The called later that day and said I need a new heater core which costs $1200. The next day the called back and said that I actually need a new heater core, radiator, thermostat, etc. Basically the whole heating/cooling system for the engine and the estimate is up to $2200. I looked online and found that this is not a new problem which is frustrating. It seems like it is a radiator problem that sends particles through the system and clogs the heater core. I'm hoping that there will be a recall so that I can recoup some of this $2200 that I'm about to have to pay to fix my Jeep. Especially since this is a manufacturing defect apparently!.

3 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2017

My Jeep Wrangler jku has the same engine as the Chrysler 200, the 3. 6 pentastar. The heat doesn't work. It doesn't matter if it reaches operating temp. The fluids are at optimum level, new thermostat. Performed a radiator flush and other heat trouble shooting checked out. I have about 88,000 miles. The dealer ship did some work on a cylinder head and discounted. At first I thought it was a favor but after I looked into the fix, I found others with same fixes.

4 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

The cooling system had sand in it from the factory causing the radiator to burst, the transmission cooler and heater system to plug up and not work. There is a factory service bulletin acknowledging the problem and as I was stranded when radiator blew out could be a safety issue to be stranded in nowhere.

5 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the cooling system stopped working and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was casting sand in the cooling system, which clogged up the radiator, the water pump, oil cooler, heater core, and the cooling part of the engine. The dealer stated that all the clogged parts needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that the parts were not covered by the warranty and that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000.

6 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2015

My car was manufactured wrong. . . My engine block is casting sand into my coolant system which then blows out my heater core and radiator. I have spent 5 months under warrenty trying to fix with issue but the Jeep dealer and Chrysler give me the run around. I was trying to get this fix under warrenty but all the run around I got from the dealers has caused my warranty to expire with no fix. I think I have bought a lamon of a car I only have 14k miles , my issue started at 7k miles. Now it is winter time and in driving my car with no heat. I have a new born baby on the way who will get sick inside my car. Jeep does not want to cover the cost of my repairs to replace the heater core and radiator also a complete flush of this sand coming from the engine. This is a hazard for me and my baby to drive around in this cold vehicle . This is a known problem but Jeep\Chrysler is trying their best to keep this quiet. Ill be trying to contact a lawyer soon or maybe a news station.

7 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Vehicle stopped getting heat from all vents on drivers side, including defroster and only luke warm heat on the passenger side. All regular maintenance had been performed on the vehicle. Dealer says radiator and heater core need to be replaced as they are filled with 'sludge'. A little research online and this seems to be an all to common issue with these Jeeps and Chrysler has given no answer as to the cause. While not having heat is inconvenient, not being able to defrost the windshield is a safety hazard. They are currently fighting me on paying for this as the vehicle is just out of warranty. This is an issue Chrysler is fully aware of and has done nothing to fix! further investigating has shown that ignoring this problem and not removing this sludge could eventually lead to engine failure.

8 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2013

Cylinder misfire less than 20k, heat chronically did not work, brought to dealer numerous times for no heat, ticking sound coming from motor. City driven vehicle. Major engine issue at 85k dealer telling me not a systemic problem with this particular vehicle. Extended warranty will not cover engine issues. Jeep over heating, no heat, replaced radiator twice at my own expense.
