1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2025

Having a hard time putting gas, I have to do it slowly so it can go in, the worst is when I put fuel a bit more fast it will throw gas out even if it ain't even close to half the tank.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2023

When the fuel vents on the top of the fuel cell get old, they are extremally brittle. Washboard roads or a pot hole can jar the fuel tank breaking the connectors that go to the emissions system and the rollover valve. If any of these plastic pieces break, there is a chance for fueling problems and effects the drivability of the vehicle. The 3 connector vent is a non-serviceable part, requiring the gas tank to be replaced. The replacement has the same plastic connectors, leaving the possibility for breakage. These connectors breaking can lead to a multitude of issues, including but not limited to fuel spills while filling, leaking fuel from hoses. I have had 2 tanks in my 2012 jku have this issue and a quick search on Jeep forums will show that this is not an isolated problem.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2023

Engine stalls randomly while driving. Will crank over several times and over approx 10-15 min. Of cranking(say every 3-5min) vehicle will and will restart. No check engine lights and no warning. The loss of power can be dangerous since brake and steering assist require engine to be running. Vehicle will be fine for several days local commute and problem will recur without warning, usually on longer commute. Vehicle is unsafe and unpredictable.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2023

The skid plate assembly that retains the fuel tank is very corroded, corroded to the point of the fuel tank dropping out of the vehicle if not repaired as soon as possible. The other part of this issue is when trying to get this part, there is a backorder of approximately 50 of the skid plate assemblys! this information was provided to me by the Chrysler/ Dodge/ ram /Jeep dealership from where we purchased the vehicle new, and that has done all of the repair work on this vehicle since we bought it. The 2 things I find to be very concerning with this issue are the potential fire hazard if, and when a fuel tank were to fall out of the vehicle and the issue of a parts back order appears to show there is an ongoing issue with this very serious situation . Also this vehicle has never been used off-road or for any extreme off-road activities, solely on road use. I did contact Chrysler in regards to my concerns, but other than attempting to get the part shipped sooner, I was told the vehicle is out of warranty and there is no recall on it so there is nothing they can do.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2023

Occasionally we would smell gasoline fumes. The occurrence became more frequent to the point we had a mechanic check it out. The mechanic dropped the gas tank and found that there is a steel ring between the tank and the fuel pump flange. This flange had rusted and expanded to the point of cracking the fuel pump flange. Mechanic replaced the flange, seal and fuel pump. I have retained the cracked fuel pump.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

While driving making a turn, shifting from 1st to 2nd gear, and vehicle stalls losing all power. The vehicle has been to the deal multiple times and the issue can not be duplicated. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times and there are no known issues. No-fault codes are thrown. I stalled in the middle of a busy intersection, with my children in the car. I had to push the vehicle to safety!.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2022

While driving the car stalled. Loss of power steering and braking. I was able to coast to a safe location. I tried to restart, but crank- no start.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2022

While driving making a left-hand turn, crossing an intersection the vehicle stalled. Lossing all power, no power stirring or breaks. When trying to re-start vehicle will not re-start.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2022

While crossing an intersection the vehicle stalled for no reason. No codes were posted. Crank no start, waited 10 min, and the vehicle started. Drove to the dealer to resolve. Dealer has no known reason for stalling while driving.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2020

Sudden acceleration with brakes not responding . This has happened 4 times and only way was to pull out of road and jam brakes and disengage from drive to park in a moment to avoid accidents or me driving of the side road . This was reported to dealership and nothing came back with no check engine light on. I always done my service at dealership and apparently supposedly nothing has been reported of this nature. It feels like it's on cruise control with having a speed of it's own but brakes are not responding normally. Hopefully can address ASAP lucky I've been working from home but I shouldn't be afraid to drive my own car. This is a very serious safety issue and needs attention ASAP. Thanks mb.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2019

Under hard acceleration, like passing a car on the highway, the vehicle goes into limp mode which has nearly caused me to wreck 4 to 5 times due to being unable to accelerate. Once I pull of the road and restart limp mode goes away but the engine light stays on. The dealership says that the wiring harness is the issue. The vehicle has codes popping up about torque management. I would like for this to be fixed free of charge due to the wiring harnesses being an integral part if this vehicle.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

We use this Jeep only for highway travel. It has 48,000 miles. On our way to church, yes unbelievably we had a strong smell of gasoline once we arrived back home there was a steady stream of gasoline running down the bell housing of the transmission to the ground, this was in an area about underneath the front seats or near the rear of the engine. This leak occurred only while the Jeep was idling. Once we turned the engine off, the gasoline stopped leaking or running down the bell housing. The greatly alarmed us due to the potential it could easily have ignited to flames since this was very flammable gasoline leaking was so close to so many other hot exhaust parts. We had to tow the Jeep (obviously not driving it leaking so much gas any longer) to our Jeep dealer service center for further inspection and repair. They discovered a small lengthwise split in the forward hard plastic fuel line several inches from where it attaches to the fuel rail. This is the fuel line tube that goes to the end of the engine. I had several times requested the Jeep dealer to save the old defective parts but they threw them away. I honestly dont know if that was by design to avoid a recall or not, I certainly would have photographed the split would I have had the part.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

Jeep was getting over 20mpg then suddenly started dropping at a rapid rate now 1yr after purchase is getting average 12. 9mtg. Down to 9mtg. Highway or torrevieja doesn't appear to effect these numbers, not in wrong gears, oil changes current, tires balanced and air correct.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

Engine light continues to come on after several repairs a sensor was replaced. The engine light is on again I have read several reviews as to cyclinders are misfiring this is a manufacturing problems that needs addressed by the manufacturer.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2019

Fuel is over flowing from filler tube when at the gas station. Fuel runs down the side of vehicle and on to the ground. This happens almost every time I fill up.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

Personal mechanic has noticed oil filter housing is leaking and has a high chance to be fire hazard without warning.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2017

While turning to park the engine throttle suddenly accelerated & Jeep jumped the curb, crashed thru a fence & ended up in the ocean. We were rescued by dana point harbor patrol.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

The vehicle power abruptly drops while driving losing anywhere from 100 to 500 rpms. If the vehicle is stopped at a signal or traveling at lower speeds the power drop will shut down the vehicle. The problem is random and very unsafe.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

While being towed by our RV on a city street, a fire started under the hood of the Jeep. The transfer case was in neutral. The manual transmission was in neutral. The ignition switch was turned 1 notch to accessory to unlock the steering. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. No police report was filed because the fire was not caused by an accident. Because of the severity of the fire damage, no cause of the fire was determined.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Jeep was stalling. Head was replaced under warranty. One month later Jeep still randomly stalls at idle / stop lights. Now it is starting to cut out at road speeds.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

Vehicle engine light came on after starting engine and driving 30 feet from initial parked location. Vehicle was stopped and explosion occurred under the hood while driver was still in vehicle. No previous indication there was any issue with vehicle. Upon driver emergency exit of vehicle, further explosions and large flames engulfed the vehicle resulting in a total loss of vehicle within minutes.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

Update to complaint number 10692609 regarding the check engine light and codes p0441 and p0445. A new mopar gas cap has taken care of the problem. Two after market gas caps, purchased new, were faulty right out of the box. The new mopar gas cap has cleared the codes. Apparently not all gas caps are vehicle specific. . .

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2015

My check engine light came on. The codes were p0441 and p0445, both having to do with the evap system.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2015

The fuel code shows incomplete and fails to reset.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

When filling it up with gas the nozzle which stop after it get full, but then the gas from the Jeep gushes out of filler tube almost a gallon goes on Jeep and on the ground.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

I recently bought this vehicle as a used car. The fuel overflow valve does not work causing gas to spill out onto the car and ground every time I fill up the car. This is obviously an environmental and fire hazard. The Jeep internet forums are full of postings of the same issue with several Wrangler models and years and the recommendation is to replace the filler tube containing the check valve. It is obvious that this is a defective part and the manufacturer should issue a recall and repair the problem for free.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Fuel spit back at time of refueling.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

When adding fuel to the vehicle, after the initial pump shutoff when removing the pump from the fuel inlet, the gasoline come back out under pressure and soaks the operator. This has happened consistently since the initial episode. It makes no difference wether the fuel is pumped slowly or fast. This vehicle has been returned to a dealer for inspection. No immediate cause has been found.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2014

Recall notice sent from Chrysler in September 2013. Been waiting for parts to be sent to dealership since that date. Called adams Jeep again today and they still do not have parts from Chrysler to correct the transmission line recall problem.

30 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that an extremely strong odor of gasoline emitted inside and outside of the vehicle continuously. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. The VIN was unavailable.

31 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2012

I was driving in 4 low in 90 degree and 3000 feet elevation gain. I could smell a strong gas vapor. It was in the cab and outside. It is due to the design of the evap system. The jkdepends on a spring valve to relieve excessive pressure/vacuum in the fuel system. The esim is a crude device meant to meet monitoring requirements. The reality is on hot day when vapors are prevalant, especially in 4wd low when the vehicle is moving slow and the engine are high revs are high you may smell fuel. This really bothered me with my family on board.
