Abs brake module (part # 68145835ae) is a known defect on Jeep Wranglers 2012-2014. This part becomes defective, eliminating the abs braking feature, also causing other transmission related problems. The real problem is mopar support. Currently, nationally, this part is, and has been on back order (over 300 backorders) with no expectations of being available. I have been waiting for this part for over 6 months (no abs) and problems with the vehicle have been escalating. This is a known problem, discussed on Jeep forum. Com, mopar parts suppliers and among dealerships.
Abs module malfunction. This has been an ongoing problem for Jeep Wranglers of this year, previous and later. Jeep recalled other models for abs module malfunctions. Being a retired auto worker am aware that same components are used on other models to defer manufacturing costs. Vehicle lot numbers do not isolate the problem. Bulk purchase of components should be checked per manufacturing date. I have taken my vehicle to dealer for diagnosis and they say the abs module is bad, but part is on back order with no real time date ( could be 2 weeks or 6 months)for delivery. Jeep dealer wants me to pickup vehicle until part arrives. Driving vehicle under this condition could cause brakes to seize, not work at all, fire and/or a possibility of an accident! Jeep knows and has know this is a problem but never a recall on this model. Researching other Jeep owners and Jeep forums it is documented of this problem and the expense that an owner has to incur to get it resolved! Jeep has made no effort evidently to recognize this problem with the example being that parts are back ordered. Then again there is a real problem and the original part was junk but now the owner is stuck with the bill and all the safety issues because new parts are back ordered.
Abs has gone out and there are no new repair parts available from Jeep.
The dash displayed multiple warning icons and I carried the Jeep to a mechanic. They discovered that the abs module, which is the anti braking system, had a fault error and needed to be replaced. After multiple attempts have found out that this particular abs module, oem part number (68145835ae) is no longer available by Jeep Chrysler and has not been available for the past few years. This means the Jeep is not safe to drive if the roads are wet or icy due to the possibility of loosing the brakes from skidding/loss of control of the vehicle.
Abs module failure c2200. Repair parts not available.
The 2012 Jeep 4 door Wrangler had the abs control module internal error failure, this makes the car unsafe to drive. The dealer cannot get repair parts, the car is un-repaired since October 2025. Further, they cannot source the chips for the components, the make cannot provide a delivery date. (unknown when this will be rectified. Other years of this car have been recalled for this issue. This year has not yet. Please help us !).
After replacing right front speed sensor, abs module shows malfunction and vehicle goes into limp mode. Replacement abs modules are unavailable from mfg.
Abs system faile, there is no replacement part to correct the fault, and there is no replacement date, code c2200.
Multiple warning light activations (abs, tcs, hill descent) diagnosed by mechanic as failed abs module (combines electronic and hydraulic components) (68145835ae). I have been on a waiting list for a replacement part from stellantis for almost a year. Numerous owners report online that this part is unavailable or no longer being manufactured. Stellantis has not publicly acknowledged the problem or provided a proposed solution or timeline. Abs is widely acknowledged as a key component of modern automobile safety systems. Stellantis's failure to provide replacement components for these modern vehicles places the driving public at unnecessary risk. A recommended resolution is that stellantis provide NHTSA with a credible plan of action to begin providing replacements for this critical component (and other related part numbers).
For more than one year I have problems with the anti-lock brake system module - mopar part #(68145835ae). Every time I place an order it get canceled because Jeep and or the supplier have the part on back order. I wonder when the NHTSA is going to intervene with this company, before an tragedy happens and someone get kill because the Jeep don't brake like is suppose to be.
While interstate driving the vehicle dash dinged, I looked down to find the abs, traction control and emergency brake came on. I immediately pulled off the interstate for a visual inspection of the breaks and brake fluid but did not see any glaring issues. I took the vehicle to a local shop, they read the code (c2200) and advised I needed a new abs control module (mopar part #68145835ae). The local shop advised the module is difficult to find, but they found one and would complete the work for $2,400. 00 ($1,500 of which was for the abs module part). I called a local chrystler, Dodge, Jeep (lou fusz) dealer in o'fallon to price verify the part. I scheduled an appointment for three weeks out. They also confirmed the code and need to replace the abs module for $1,500. 00 ($881. 00 of which was for the abs module part); however, Jeep-mopar told the dealership that the part is not available until March 20 of 2024 which would leave me with two options. 1) sell the vehicle to the dealer; however, their offer took advantage of the abs issue and was extremely low 2) wait and drive the faulty vehicle driving the Jeep with a faulty abs module may jeopardize critical systems, resulting in poor braking performance and potentially create a very dangerous or deadly situation. A search of this issue online in Jeep forums has shown mass number of similar issues and others experiencing the same part deadly; meaning there are an untold number of Jeeps driving with a faulty abs module. I pled to the NHTSA to please investigate and pressure Jeep to issue a recall to ensure safety.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The vehicle will die while driving it, it is a automatic so you loose power steering power brakes and the engine is completely shut off you have to safely pull over and not get hit to put vehicle in park sometimes it starts in park, sometime it just turns over and you have to wait 10 to 15 minutes for vehicle to start. Dealer keeps telling me there is no issue with the vehicle, and they cannot replicate issue. I fear for me and my family's life every day in my Jeep Wrangler.
Abs, traction control and brake lights came on. Veh has 45000 miles on it. Was advised the abs module is bad. Part is no where to be found, and no dealer can order it. Basically the vehicle braking system is questionable on the road without abs or traction.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the front passenger’s side brakes locked up without warning. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The contact replaced the front passenger’s side caliper however, the failure recurred. The contact also replaced the front brake lines. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.
I recently purchased a 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited (VIN: 1c4hjwdg7cl140785). Within 1 month of taking possession of the vehicle, the car began to stall intermittently while driving. Specifically, the engine shuts off and the power steering and breaks deactivate. To state the obvious, this is a very dangerous condition, particularly as our family has three children under the age of six. To date, larry miller Jeep has been unable to diagnose the issue as no error codes appear. . Read more...
Emergency brake will not hold even after adjustment. I've installed new rear brake rotors and new emergency brake shoes. Adjusted the adjuster correctly and still the emergency brake will not hold. Design flaw in the emergency brake handle prevents it from engaging correctly. Weak spring not direct cable attachment. Never holds at all. Mechanic stated it has been redesigned due to this issue and entire brake must be replaced.

Stationary vehicle starts when I open the door without having key in ignition. Stationary vehicle engine fails to shut off when I turn off ignition and remove key. Anti-lock brake system locks up brakes while vehicle is standing still and will not move under any throttle amount because the brakes remain locked up. Vehicle factory alarm turns on and off randomly when drivers door is opened. Windows roll down by themselves while vehicle is turned off. Air conditioner blower (can't say if compressor keeps running or not) randomly shuts off while driving down the road and comes back on a couple of minutes later. Cruise control will not accept speed set but then turns 5 minutes later whether you wanted it to or not. Everything points to the tipm but even with 10's of thousands of complaints fiat/Chrysler still insist there is no Wrangler tipm problem, and u. S. Government oversight groups refuse to do anything about it. (when did this happen date is just the latest occurrence of an ongoing serious safety issue that fiat/Chrysler refuses to acknowledge. .
2012 Jeep Wrangler was completely stopped behind another vehicle. With no warning and while my foot was depressing the brake petal the Jeep began to accelerate forward. The brakes did not hold the vehicle and it proceeded forward and hit the vehicle in front.
Driving out of my work parkinglot on a clear dry even road onto a fourlane street across traffic abs and traction control lights came on then front brakes locked up and then started pulsating causing me to almost be t-boned in the drivers side.
The parking brake handle/ clutch assembly has been faulty on my vehicle from about 6 months after buying it new. It being a manual transmission has caused the vehicle to roll away on several instances. I have ordered a new parking brake assembly to replace the original oe unit to try and fix the problem. Yes the parking brake shoes have been adjusted multiple times. This is an issue with the cable tension system.
Driving at freeway speeds some bumps or uneven surface cause car to lurch. Engine shuts down to no throttle; this is very disconcerting for driver. Happens 2-3 times a month on such roads. I suspect the skid control. When that is turned off it does not do it. Jeep needs to fix this. Car recovers after 2-3 seconds but in meantime this could easily cause car behind to hit you. So far have been lucky this did not happen.
Parking break will not hold. Have had the parking break shoes replaced and adjusted but still will roll slowly if not on a flat surface. Mine has a manuel transmission so I have to leave it in gear to keep it from rolling. I have spoken with several other Jeep owners and they say this is a common Jeep problem but I fill like this should be covered under a recall. The clutch also is in need of replacement after only 74,000 miles of driving. Has been like this since I bought it in April 2017.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the front track bar bracket to the front axle fractured without warning. The contact stated that this malfunction caused a loss of power steering function because the axle welds separated and became undone. In addition, the brakes malfunctioned within the electronic stability control system and the abs. The vehicle was taken to glockners superstore to be repaired where the front axle was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,107. Ad.
Jeep Wrangler unlimited rolled away on slight incline (< 5 degrees) with parking brake engaged and driver out of vehicle. Driver had to reach inside the rolling vehicle to press the hydraulic brake pedal by hand to bring the vehicle to a stop. If driver was not next to vehicle when incident happened, vehicle would have likely rolled out into traffic. Vehicle failed state inspection in April 2016 due to parking brake not holding. Parking brake was adjusted and passed inspection, but failed within a month.
Abs and traction control light came on while making a left turn. The right side tire brake engaged and lost control of vehicle and hit a brick sign with my right side at about 25 mph. The air bags failed to deploy, and my front end is completely destroy.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 mph, the clutch emitted smoke and the vehicle stalled. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch burned out and replaced the unit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000. Djr.
Attempting to accelerate from stop at traffic signal, dashboard trouble lights illuminated, esc and antilock brake system activated, effectively nullifying driver throttle input. Vehicle would not accelerate.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the brake pedal was engaged and failed to stop the vehicle causing the contact to crash into another vehicle head on. The impact was not severe and the air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries reported. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
Manual transmission vehicle parked in slightest incline with parking brake pulled up rolled on multiple occasions. Two of which the driver was out of the car and unable to stop from rolling. Vehicle sustained damage when finally was stopped by tree/bushes. Other occasions driver was inside vehicle but unable to get parking brake to hold vehicle from rolling. Forced to turn engine off and leave in gear to keep vehicle stationary. First occurrence with damage Jan 2014. Taken to dealer while still under warranty. Denied any problem found. Blamed possibly vehicle driven with brake pulled up.
I was traveling on the freeway. Dry, sunny day. The esc light comes on for a half a second and the Wrangler brakes at the same time. Wheels did not lock up. Did not loose control. Just a split second, sudden deceleration. This has happened twice more, the last time was this weekend.
Start the vehicle after it has been sitting for a few hours there is an extremely hard brake pedal. You can press as hard as you can the vehicle rolls away for 5 to 10 seconds depending how long the vehicle has sat. The vehicle is a manual transmission so in order to start the clutch needs to be compressed thus putting you in neutral with no brakes. The emergency brake also does not work in the all the way up position. So when starting in the morning or after a few hours there are no brakes at all.
