I have a 2013 Jeep Wrangler with 180,000 miles. I never off road the vehicle, but after driving on a dirt road, the stability control kicked in during a turn. At the start of the next drive after that, there were 3 lights on the dashboard: brake, abs, stability control. Connecting the jscan app to the vehicle, the abs module is completely unresponsive and the vehicle gives a c2200 error code. There were no symptoms of this issue before this event. This vehicle is available to be inspected any time. Lack of abs is a very dangerous safety concern, as neither of my children have ever had to drive a vehicle without abs. After some research, this seems to be a very common problem. After some age and heat cycles, the electronics in the module become weak, and my single use of the stability control apparently is enough to push the weak electronics over the edge and destroy the module. This has been confirmed through several companies who repair these modules, such as [xxx] , who no longer repairs these modules, apparently because the computer chips are no longer made, and I have heard stories about the chip maker going out of business during covid. It was also confirmed by a local Jeep specialist, and the dealer parts department also tells the same story, people have been waiting on this module for over 2 years now. A manufacturer of this size with this many vehicles affected by such a safety issue should step up and commission another chip manufacturer to make these vehicles road worthy again. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Nhtsa recall number 19v018000 made appointment at west knoxville Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (530 kingston pike, knoxville, TN 37919) dealership states they do not have the part, do not know when they will have it. They are refusing to help. They did not inspect the vehicle, or even ask if they could. They really didn't want me there for "recall work".
The clockspring went bad, but the recall for that only applies to 2007-2010 Jeep Wranglers. The airbag light is on, my horn does not work, and the buttons on my steering wheel don't work.
Abs anti lock module stopped working. Vehicle braking system is now compromise. It also send the speed to the transmission, which is causing the erratic drivability.
Oil pressure sensor failed. Fixed that. Check engine light came back on with battery light. New alternator. Check engine returned for oil pressure sensor. Temp gauge is fine. Changed oil twice within 3 months. When replacing Jeep alternator melting of wires to alternator had occurred. This seems to be an issue with this model.
My 2013 Jeep Wrangler rubicon, has a non-functional horn and steering wheel controls, including cruise control and audio buttons, which stopped working in. I suspect a faulty clockspring, as these symptoms match issues in prior Jeep Wrangler recalls for 2007-2012 models (NHTSA campaign 11v528000), where clockspring failures also disabled horns and risked airbag malfunctions. My vehicle shows. This poses a safety risk, as the horn is critical for avoiding collisions. No repairs attempted yet, but similar complaints appear online from other 2013 Wrangler owners. Please investigate for a potential recall.
The oil pressure sensor, I was in traffic and the vehicle came to a stop with scared the hell out me and this has hall a couple of time and came to find out it was caused by the oil pressure sensor. Why this is not on recall.
Intake air temperature sensor falls out of housing when accelerating. Second time this has happened for the same reason.
When driving down the road, the Jeep stops running. This is very dangerous and happens while driving at 55 mph. I’ve taken it to a mechanic and it will not throw a code. We’ve replaced the fuel pump, ignition, battery and alternator. Reading the forums and other online resources shows this is a common problem with multiple solutions. Jeep should recall any parts identified with this issue and be able to help correct this known issue. This is very unsafe. I do not have the money to spend and have no reliable transportation for employment. This has been such a hardship during such trying economic times.
My vehicle suddenly stops running as I'm driving down the road. This is an reoccurring problem that happens every few days. This does not issue a code nor does the check engine light come on. There is no rhyme or reason to the issue. Electrical does not go out only the ability to push the gas pedal. I have to pull over and turn off the Jeep. It comes back on and runs after waiting 10 minutes. This is a hazard and can cause a wreck. It's an common problem with Jeeps as reported on the forums.
My airbag dash light is illuminated. I took it to park Jeep and the error code suggests that it is the clockspring that should be replaced. - I bought a "legally imported from canada" 2013 Jeep Wrangler from a large us non-Jeep dealer in 2016. It had 55k miles so it would have been out of warranty. Recently, I had the pab recall work done at a local Jeep dealership. About a month later, my airbag light started coming on intermittently. Because of the timing of the recall work, I went back to that dealership to have them diagnose/see if they were the cause/etc. . They diagnosed it as needing the clockspring. I have been told by two local Jeep dealerships and the folks at 1-877-amjeep that even though the extended warranty on the clockspring applies to all nafta market vehicles, they wont fix it under warranty. I was actually told, ". . . The warranty it didn't have at the time it crossed into the us was voided, thus nullifying any future extended warranty that could would have covered other parts. " fca did this extended warranty nonsense to avoid a recall, and if they arent honoring the extended warranty, then there ought to be a recall on the clockspring. My airbag is non functioning due to a manufacturing defect and fca wont fix it. I cannot be the only person that is adversely affected by this.
Mopar performance 68018109aa a/c and heater actuator has failed 3 times. I've replaced the original and twice since. This part is a safety issue because it directed the heat to defrost/DE-ice the windshield and provide heat to the occupants. There is plenty of evidence on youtube of Jeep owners replacing this part for years now and yet there has not been a recall regarding this part. The last replacement part was in January 2020 and failed again which I just replaced. Three times since 2013 when I purchased the 10th anniversary Jeep rubicon new which is why I've had enough of mopar not caring about its customers.
I just left my house and drove 2 miles at 25mph. My brakes went out then my vehicle caught fire with me and my two children inside. It is being inspected by insurance but there were no warning signs besides my brakes going out.
The control buttons on the steering wheel for speed control and radio and menu for the odometer plus the horn started working only part-time. If you wiggle or turn the steering wheel 90 degrees sometimes everything will work. The airbag light also comes on indicating there is an airbag problem. This sometimes will go away with the right wiggle of the steering wheel. The service department said it is a bad clockspring on the steering column. There is a recall on this (s40) but not listed on my Jeep. This started about 6 months ago and has gotten progressively worse.
Driving approx 65 mph on highway. Rpm jumped then car lost power. Would not shift past neutral and unable to remove key. Auto door unlock failed. Vehicle was evacuated and then struck from behind at high speed.
I was in motion on highway at 60mph dash lights and radio went off, the engine went off for about 3 seconds then everything came back to normal. This occurred 3 times in the next 10 minutes. Each occurance was the same. Ran fine after that for 30 mins. Has not reoccured. Total shut down is dangerous. I have heard reports of this happening to many Jeeps.
Airbag lights remain on, cruise control does not work, all controls on the steering wheel do not work. Does not work when driving or setting. I purchased the vehicle with this problem and was told it was a fuse. I found out it is the clock spring.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the driver side vents blew only cold air, and the passenger side vents blew hot air. The vehicle was taken to the dealer planet Chrysler/Jeep, 400 e central st, franklin, MA 02038, they determined that the heater cord had to be replaced and the hoses unclogged. Ther contact also noted that the failure had occurred for approximately three months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was advised that the vehicle was not part of a technical service bulletin number: 24-002-14 ( equipment ). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,300. Bp.
My Jeep shuts off while driving on city roads and going up hills with other vehicles present, no codes show up, dash lights turn red when vehicle is off, my Jeep makes funny noises when turned off, take it to the dealership over 3 months since I bought it 3 months ago and they can't fix it. They don't know what is wrong with it. They've tired everything and still nothing. It's going back in again because it shut off on me going up a hill. This Jeep is now becoming dangerous to myself. Yet the Jeep still isn't giving codes. I had to go buy a car scan device plug it in and record data of what is going on with the Jeep so that the dealership can see. Do I have to go off a cliff or get into a really bad accident before this problem is found or fixed. I've only had this vehicle for 3 months. I bought it on February 21,2020 and it started acting up on February 28,2020 and still is on may 16, 2020 and it is becoming a nightmare. I'm spending money to get it fixed because the dealership is charging me because my extended warranty doesn't cover it. I was told when I bought it that there was nothing wrong with it but that was a lie. I need help figure this out. The dealership didn't make sure that this vehicle was safely operational before selling it. It over heated because they didn't check fluid. My heated seats were burnt out. My dash lights flicker on and off. They replaced something behind my dash but it didn't fix the issue. I think it made it worse. As of right now my Jeep shuts up at least once a week which puts me in a dangerous position because I get stuck either on the side of the road sitting sideways or almost off of a cliff or in the middle of the road with nowhere to go because I have no power steering the Jeep does it start back up for anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes.
The tips module failed have only one headlight been stopped by policemen for unsafe vehicle. Must be replaced cost for part is 1;400. 00 dollars not including labor. Have been told by dealer that this is common failure part many people complained that the have to pay for a part that controls all the electrical for the vehicle. This is a safety issue. Jeep should recall this for repairs. Very sad people have to pay for this Jeep should be held accountable. Thank you.
Starting issues: the ignition will not start the engine, no lights come on, the battery is connected fine and I had it checked (good). This has happened four times since April, and today is the most recent. My Jeep has been parked in my garage since Thursday evening and it would not start today (6/30/19).
Unable to get a recall repaired (p61) because of the fraudulent actions of California superstores valencia Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram in valencia, California (661) 379-7709. Dealer falsely submitted that the recall was completed in 2015 thus removing my vehicle from further safety notifications regarding this recall. Vehicle has never been to California which the Chrysler Jeep corporation should be able to verify using the onstar system installed on the vehicle. All of this was discovered while trying to get the takata recall completed on vehicle.
I was getting into my vehicle and turned on the car. Immediately after I turned it on my windshield wipers began starting (with them off) and wouldn't stop. I turned my car off and they continued to keep moving. I tried to move my car into the garage and my car wouldn't come out of park. Then I started smelling a really bad smell of something burning so I called my local auto shop ASAP because the smell wouldn't stop and he had me disconnect the battery to shut everything off. My car had to be towed to an auto shop to get fixed. I was top the tipm module was faulty. I had to get a whole entire new module which cost 1,200$. I was told that this could have happened in the middle of me driving the car and I was lucky that it only happened when I was parked. I was also told by many other people who drive a Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep that this is a very common problem in older models. I feel very uneasy driving my car now.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 35 mph in inclement weather, the windshield wipers failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to ron lewis alfa romeo / ron lewis pre-owned cranberry (located at 20839 route 19, cranberry twp, PA 16066, (724) 776-7400) where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
Driving on highway and the engine shut off for no apparent reason. When the engine is off there is a loss of power steering etc. This has happened several times. Starting at about 32,000 miles. The dealership has tried to fix it but the vehicle still has this problem.
Driver heated seat module overheats at times causing a burning smell if in use.
A ticking noise. Valves ticking. I was told. That there is a recall on this with Jeep. Wranglers.
Numerous events of sudden stalling of vehicle at high speed in drive, at low speed in drive and reverse; creating a very dangerous situation involving near-miss rear end collisions. Can take up to 15 minutes to restart engine. Engine sometimes appears to restart with a ticking sound, has no power and automatic transmission can't be shifted into drive or reverse. Other times, engine starts and transmission can be shifted into drive or reverse, but gears do not engage. Numerous events, as common as stalling events, involving sudden and sometimes violent shocks to the drivetrain, which happen at all speeds, usually when accelerating. Everyone knows this is a tipm issue, with serious safety implications related to the potential for high speed rear end collisions by following vehicles, that Chrysler and the NHTSA have not taken adequate action to remedy except on limited affected vehicle types. Substantial information exists on this known issue, including information and documentation submitted to Chrysler and NHTSA. This particular vehicle was purchased new, started to exhibit this series of problems at the beginning of 2018 after 60,000+ miles, and has been back and forth to the dealer multiple times. There are no recorded error codes according to the dealer. The fuel pump relay has been replaced by dealer, supposedly, which was the latest unsuccessful attempt at solving the problem? prior to that work was performed on the transmission, supposedly, which also did not solve the problem? prior to the current symptoms, two unexplained dead battery events occurred. Now, readily found information shows a link with tipm and fuel pump relay failures that allow the fuel pump to run and drain the battery after turning off the ignition. How many more reports to NHTSA will it take to responsibly address this very serious potential rear collision safety issue related to the tipm?.
As I research what is wrong with my Jeep it has been a happening for quite a bit of people. Nobody has been able to find a solution for this issue, what has been happening is when driving my 2013 Jeep Wrangler at all my check engine light comes on and I instantly lose power plus my abs and traction control lights turn on and I end up going into limp mode. It mostly happening on the freeway and going up hills, but has also been happening even when it is in park. My Jeep has been in the shop with a trusted mechanic for 3 months and he has not been able to find the issue either. All of the research I have done tons of people has been having this issue but seems as though no one can find the cause of the problem either. . . I'm unsure of what to do now.
Heater core clogged. Radiator sludge leftover from casting sand in cylinder heads circulated thru heating and cooling systems cause sand to settle in radiator and clog heater core.
The vehicle stalled out on one occasion several months ago. It cranked and cranked but wouldn't turn over. Today when trying to leave, I couldn't get it to turn over. . . After about half an hour and my battery almost dying I disconnected the negative connection to battery and it fired up after reconnecting. I'm reading there are 50,000+ vehicles with a tipm issue and believe this is impacting my Jeep. It's a $1300 fix that I think Chrysler/Jeep should own.
At approximately 60k miles my 2013 Jeep Wrangler sport unlimited started "stalling" inexplicably. When this happens you lose all throttle control, and your power steering. Which can be challenging when your in the left hand lane of a four lane interstate going 65mph. This caused a tractor trailor to jack knife and slide down the interstate. . . Luckily, I and the few others on the road at the time survived. After taking my vehicle in for the fifth time for the same problem I started researching myself. I was shocked to find it appears to be an epidemic problem with the 12-14 Jeeps with the new pentastar engines. It also appears that no fca/Jeep dealership in the country has figured it out. If those were the first with the new motor, it stands to reason if it doesn't appear there is a fix, that it will continue. And I can tell you from personal experience, people are going to die from this safety issue. This typically happens when down shifting to get power, or when shifting into gear after backing out of a parking stall. The throttle is lost completely and the power steering as well. You can try to crank the vehicle, but it will not start until after about five to ten minutes. It will then start up and drive like nothing happened. No codes are shown and dealerships have no way to identify the problem unless they can replicate it. That would be the beginning anyway. Some serious effort needs to be put into this, again, it doesn't appear to be being addressed, and it will only get worse as the Jeeps from 2012 on get older and get to the 60k range.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 55 mph, the check engine, traction control, and oil warning indicators illuminated. Par-k enterprises (825 s 1st st, fulton, NY 13069, (315) 598-8118) was called and the contact was informed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Washer fluid and door locks stopped working. Dealer says the timp needs to be replaced.
Tipm is bad. Door don't open or lock at times. Sometimes when Jeep is turned off the Jeep radio will not turn off. Airbag light comes in at times.
