Six problems related to engine oil leaking have been reported for the 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine oil cooler has failed 2 times once at around 70k miles and again at 90k miles. Oil leaks on top of engine block and runs down the back to the transmission on to the exhaust and could easily cause a fire. Fiat does not care when I reported it and it is a very common problem with the engine in multiple vehicles. Dealer wanted $3,000 to replace it when the problem was 12 dollar o rings on the adapter. The plastic housing that sits on top of a hot engine flexes and allows the o rings to leak. There has to be a way to replace that part with something safer but they wont cause it would cost them to much money and good luck proving what happened to start the fire when the plastic housing just burns away in a fire or your engine blows to low oil.
Leaking oil cooler / filer housing.
Oil cooler filter housing leaks oil spilling it down the backside ontop of the transmission bell housing and directly dripping ontop of hot exhaust pipes resulting in a fire hazard.
Oil filter housing leaking part 5184294ae research shows numerous instances of this happening. Esp on 2014 models noticed oil leak son driveway about two weeks ago. Dealer repair cost not affordable.
09-18-2018 went to get oil change and after the oil change begin to have a oil leak, researched and it seemed a lot of Jeep owners had same issue with oil cooler going bad after oil change. Very expensive part to have to keep replacing after oil changes think something needs to be updated so this ain't a ongoing issue with Jeeps they are already very expensive to purchase and having to replace this part after monthly maintenance for your vehicle. , people has stated they have had to fix this more then once. This is over 800. 00 buck to fix.
Oil adapter housing is leaking oil. Noticed when I was getting a routine oil change.
