Six problems related to horn assembly have been reported for the 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Clock spring is bad and caused failure of all electrical components on the steering wheel and horn no longer works. Clock spring fuse is good. The horn does not work at the steering wheel at all. Horn works when depressing the panic button. Almost been involved in an accident with my child in the car due to no audible alarm.
The vehicle's horn and steering controls, except cruise control, all stopped working. I was told the clock spring is bad and Jeep did have a recall on the clock spring for 2007-2010 model year Jeeps as well as some 2011-2016 right hand drive Jeeps. If you also look through Jeep forums, this still seems to be a consistent problem. The horn is a necessary safety feature and shouldn't be failing when the vehicle was purchased brand new a little over 3 years ago.
There is a 1 to 2 second lag when pressing the horn button and when the horn actually sounds. With the lag, it is nearly impossible to sound the horn immediately when someone is encroaching into your lane or any other time when the horn needs to be sounded to prevent an accident.
When pushing the horn button in the middle of steering wheel, nothing happens for about 1/2 to 1 second, then horn sounds. Very dangerous when trying to call attention to a possible accident about to happen.
Horn delay! when pressing the steering wheel there is a noticeable delay in the horn sounding. At times I have needed the horn to alert someone wandering into my lane and a quick 'hit' to the wheel did not sound the horn. No other vehicle I've owned operates like this. Please get a fix to us owners. My 2013 Wrangler had the same issue. Still in 2015 it exits. Lots of internet chat about this safety issue on the Jeep / Chrysler forums.
There is a distinct delay between pressing the horn button (steering wheel) and activation/sounding of the horn. This delay can be over 1 second. This has been brought to the dealership's attention. They claim that it is working properly, when clearly it is not. Many times, I have tried to "beep" the horn to either avoid an incident, or otherwise, and it has never reacted as necessary.
