5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2026

I purchased my 2015 Jeep Wrangler approximately a year and a half ago. At the time of purchase, the abs, traction control, and brake warning lights were illuminated on the dashboard. The dealership told me these lights were caused by a simple sensor issue that was on backorder and would be resolved later. About two weeks ago, while driving, my Jeep suddenly went into limp mode. I had two independent mechanics inspect the vehicle, and both confirmed that the diagnostic codes pointed to a failed abs module. I then contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. They acknowledged that the abs module is still on backorder but claimed they did not believe the module was the issue, despite the diagnostic results from two separate mechanics. The abs module has now completely failed, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The abs, traction control, and brake systems are not functioning, and the Jeep cannot be operated normally. I am unable to drive my vehicle due to this safety?critical failure. This appears to be a widespread issue with abs modules on this model year, and replacement parts are unavailable. I am submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate whether this abs module failure represents a broader safety defect that requires action.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

On 4/09/26 my trac control/ abs and brake light illuminated on the dash and the hill descent assist flashes . When diagnosed at shop code c2200 was found. ( module internal failure). This is a known problem to stallantis who has had problems for several years now with this module. They now have an engineering hold on it with no plans of fixing the situation. This is a mandatory safety equipment and a national recall should be made, and they should have to fix their equipment. How is it safe or even legal to let this type of thing happen?.

7 Service Brakes problem

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the abs, traction control, and parking brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated the brake pedal seized, and the transmission was shifting roughly. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with abs module failure. The dealer was notified of the failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

I am one of thousands of Jeep Wrangler owners whose abs modules have failed, not due to normal wear and tear, but because it is a defective part. The result for my car is that the abs system indiscriminately applies braking to a wheel that is not necessary. This results in steering problems, overheated brake pads, and vibrations in all four wheels. The abs module needs to be replaced, but there are none in the u. S. To buy. The part has been on back order for years! stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, has not done anything to resolve the supply chain issues with this part. I am aware of some Jeep owners who have left their Jeeps at a Jeep dealership for over a year, waiting for a replacement part! in some states, such as hawaii, where my Jeep is located, an annual safety inspection must be passed to drive the car on hawaii's roads. With abs and traction control warning lights, my Jeep won't pass. At this point, I cannot drive my Jeep legally or safely. The nshta has been made aware of the safety issues of Jeep Wranglers driving with faulty abs modules or, in some cases, disconnected abs systems. A national recall should have been implemented years ago.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2025

Abs module has stopped working. Oem parts are not available. Only used or repaired parts are available and they are 3 to 5 times what they should normally cost. This affects antilock brakes and traction control.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

Abs control module defective per dealer diagnostics (110 bucks) , abs light on, brake light on, traction control light on , little car on downhill slope, safety issues are driving without brake control and steering, parts on back order alot of people flooding internet with same issue, as well as oil cooler, who puts plastic in the middle of a hot motor and thinks that wont break, that should have been a recall that was 1000 replacement now 1400 part replacement because it has to be done at dealer.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

The abs warning light, traction control warning light, and emergency brake light are all lite up on the dashboard of my 2015 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport. Abs is not working on my Jeep. Mechanic shop checked for codes and said the abs control module is bad and needs to be replaced. The shop qouted me $1,500. 00 for parts and labor and that was if they could find a new abs control module somewhere. If part isn't replaced, I'm told that brakes could fail or Jeep could seize up after being driven so many miles. Mechanic shop said abs control module for Jeeps is on national backorder and they are hard to find, can find used ones at salvage yards but they are priced three and four times what they normally cost brand new and they may or may not be able to flash the module to match my VIN on a used one. In other words, can't get a new one because they are not being produced any longer, and there's no guarantee that a used one will work. Online forums have confirmed all of this information also, as there are thousands of people who are having this same issue over the past year or so. I have spoken with several online dealers who sell oem mopar parts and they have confirmed that this part isn't even being produced any longer and there is no replacement part for it. So all this to say, my Jeep is parked, undrivable because of a safety issue due to this part (abs control module) not being produced by anyone any longer.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2025

I parked my car fully functioning with no lights on the dash board, after getting back in the car I had the abs light, brake light and stability light on. I checked the codes and I had a c2200 code. The abs module is bad and the part has been back ordered since 2021 from Jeep/stelantis. Now the part is discontinued and there is no solution at this time. These cars are driving on the road with no abs or stability control because the manufacturer has not released a replacement part in over 5 years. This is a major saftey concern and there have already been multiple accidents attributed to this defect. Were not even asking for a free fix we just want our vehicles able to drive safely and there is no option to fix it. This problem is only getting worse as time goes on. This is a widespread issue with 2014-2018 Wranglers.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler that has the brake, abs and traction control lights on. It is a failure of the abs module. When these lights are on, these systems are disabled. Jeep has told me that this part is on back order, due to a high failure rate. It is a safety issue when these systems are down. I have been told that some customers have waited a year or longer for the part, with some selling the vehicles. I think this problem needs a recall.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

2015 Jeep Wrangler sahara, 3. 6l, v6. Vehicle suddenly goes into “limp mode” while on highway due to bad abs brake control module. Mopar replacement part number 68259556ad, but it is on back order nationally for over a year. Jeep dealer will not take to fix. Chrysler Dodge doing nothing about it, forcing owners to drive vehicles without abs or traction control. This is not right with customers as we need car to work or it is a 2 ton paper weight. There appears to be no incentive to fix this back order issue. Please help!.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2025

It is all over the road going down hill when wet or icy. The 68259556ad abs module is not working , warninglights are on the vehicle and the part is no where to be found. Been on backorder for months.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

Abs module has gone bad. Replacements are not being made, and it is unable to be rebuilt. This forces me to drive with the anti-lock brake system not working. This is my only means of transportation and I have to drive it to work to pay the grocery bill. I feel unsafe driving it, but I have no other choice. Something needs to be done, and replacement parts need to be made available. 1.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2025

The abs module on my Jeep is failing with a c2200 code andthe abs, brake, and traction control lights illuminated on the dash. This is a very common problem with Jeep Wranglers as has been noted in several online communities. Some have been waiting literally years for a replacement part from their dealerships with none either being made or delivered and no solution for repair for thousands of people. This is clearly a major safety issue for thousands of people with Wrangler from the years 2008 - 2019. This needs to be a recall.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

Jeep Wrangler jk abs module issue: history, stellantis response, and safety concerns background: the discontinued abs module problem Jeep Wrangler owners (particularly Wrangler jk models from 2011–2018) have been plagued by failures of the anti-lock brake system (abs) control module – a critical component that controls the vehicle’s anti-lock brakes and stability control. The problematic part is commonly referenced by mopar part number 68259556 (with revisions aa, ab, ac, ad, ae for 2014–2018 Wranglers). In recent years, this abs module was discontinued by the manufacturer and put on indefinite backorder, leaving owners unable to obtain a replacement when the unit fails. The issue isn’t isolated to just one part number or model – similar abs module shortages and failures have been reported in other stellantis vehicles (including later Wrangler jls and even ram trucks) as well. Stellantis (the parent company of Jeep, formerly fca) has not provided new stock of the module for an extended period, creating a nationwide shortage that has frustrated many customers and raised serious safety concerns. Timeline of the issue and part history owners and mechanics first began noticing abs module availability problems around 2021–2022, coinciding with supply-chain disruptions and corporate changes. Mopar initially listed the Wrangler jk abs module as on backorder, with projected availability dates that kept slipping (one oem parts source in early 2022 noted the part was backordered with no firm eta). By 2023, the situation worsened: dealerships reported that no new units were being produced at all, effectively discontinuing the part without warning. Supplier fallout: according to insider reports on Jeep forums, the shortage stemmed from a supplier issue – the original abs module supplier for Jeep/fca stopped production (allegedly after stellantis attempted to cut costs), and it took the company over half a year to find a new supplier. Some reports claim stellantis “tried to.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

- 2015 Jeep Wrangler with only 46k miles - dealership has confirmed that the abs module is out on the break system. - when module suddenly went out, Jeep went into "limp" mode in heavy houston traffic. - warning lamps: abs system, sway bar, check engine, and traction control all lit up suddenly. - Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has a national backlog of the abs module that apparently has not delivered new products for months or years. - vehicle hard breaks, will not go faster than about 15mph, and cannot be used in current state as it is unsafe to drive. - vehicle is stranded 1 hr from my home, cannot be driven and will not be able to be driven for the foreseeable future. - unconscionable that Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep is not making this part thereby rendering my vehicle absolutely useless.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2025

The abs and traction control warning lights came on. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a failed abs control module, part number 68259556ad. The vehicle is now considered unsafe to drive, and I am on a waiting list for a replacement part with no estimated time of arrival, and several others have been on this waiting list for two years. Replacement part can not be found.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

•the abs system has failed in this vehicle. The cruise control has also failed. According to research, these are related. Diagnostics show a 2200 code “anti-lock brake module internal”. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Internet research reveals that this is a very common failure with this vehicle. The parts are unavailable from Jeep/Chrysler and other suppliers. Module rebuilding services such as module master cannot even refurbish these modules since the chips are no longer available. This leaves many Jeep/Chrysler vehicles either inoperable or on the road without abs. •without abs, the safety of our family is at risk every time we drive since this important safety feature has failed and is irreparable. Anyone driving in the vicinity of any of these vehicles is also potentially at risk due to this system failure. •this problem is persistent and has been confirmed by advanced diagnostics (code 2200, see above). •the vehicle/abs system has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others besides my neighbor, who assisted with diagnostics. •we were alerted to the failure by dash warning lights- the brake, abs, and traction control lights are all illuminated. •in summary, this is a common failure for these Jeep/Chrysler vehicles which has been compounded by the manufacturer’s (and other’s) inability to provide repair parts to correct the failure. We respectfully request an investigation into this issue with a directive to the manufacturer to recall these vehicles.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

Dear NHTSA safety team, I’m writing to formally report a serious and widespread safety issue affecting Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The problem centers on the failure of the abs module, which triggers diagnostic code c2200. This defect disables critical safety systems including abs and traction control, and causes the vehicle to shake violently—often mistaken for warped rotors. Jeep has discontinued production of the replacement abs module, and the part has been on backorder for years. Today alone, my dealership received three separate calls from owners experiencing the same issue. This is clearly not an isolated incident. The consequences of this failure include: - loss of abs and traction control functionality - unstable braking behavior - increased risk of collision - no available replacement part from the manufacturer this poses a clear and present danger to drivers, passengers, and others on the road. I urge NHTSA to investigate this defect and compel Jeep to issue a recall or provide a viable solution. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Abs light, stability control light and brake light on instrument cluster is illuminated. Took vehicle to dealership. They stated that the abs module is faulty and needs to be replaced. The person at the dealership said that he could not say whether or not the vehicle is safe to drive. Did a little research and found that this part has failed on many vehicles, and there are over 500 of this item backordered across the country. The dealership has no idea when to expect replacement part.
