1 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2019

Our son was driving on 287 south in new jersey around on 7-21-2019. It was a hot day. He had been driving home from the adirondack mountains for about 3 hours and 15 minutes. His speed was just under 70 mph in the middle lane when suddenly the car wouldn't maintain its speed. The car slowed down and would not accelerate, even though the engine made a sound like it was trying to accelerate. The red throttle warning light appeared on the dashboard. He pulled over safely and stopped and turned the car off. He waited about 10 minutes to start it again. . . When he turned the engine back on the red light was off and he drove home slowly in the right lane without incident. The next day we took it to the Jeep service department. They tried the vehicle several times and could not identify the problem, and we took it home. We are scared, however, to drive it on the highway now!.
