36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

There is a missing weld on the lower passenger rear control arm bracket that looks like a manufacture defect. I recently started hearing a clanging noise and brought it to the mechanic. I was not put at risk of safety (for the tie being). The problem has been confirmed and looked at only by a mechanic. There were no warning lights. How do I get the welding fixed? the dealer will not help me repair it.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2023

Paint is bubbling on all 4 doors, starting to flake off along with rust and corrosion on all 4 door hinges.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2023

At highway speeds when driving over surface imperfections, the Jeep randomly and suddenly starts to wobble uncontrollably, with a significant wobble in the steering wheel. This wobbling goes away when the vehicle slows down, but pops up again in a random manner when driving over any surface imperfection / bump / road seam at highway speeds.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

There has been a recall since February 2023 that has not been handled yet. I have yet to receive any information on how they are handling this recall that is a potential fire hazard. 10 months should be sufficient time to be in touch with consumers. I was told when I called the manufacturer that I could use my warranty. I will not use a warranty on a recalled issue.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2023

Had a diagnostic done for a leak that had happened yesterday. It is the oil filter housing under intake. From 13-17 there are recalls on this but for an 18 there isn’t. There was an unidentified smell when I got out of the vehicle. There were no warnings on my Jeep. I came out to my Jeep hours after to see a leak under my Jeep. Looked under and it is all over my transmission and oil pan. Very little on the ground but left with no oil in my Jeep. If it did not start dripping from those parts I never would have known about a leak and it could have blown the engine in so blowing up my vehicle.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2023

This vehicle has undergone two recalls for an issue involving the clutch and other parts in the same vicinity blowing apart, shooting out like a grenade, and causing catastrophic damage to the transmission, hoses, and whatever else might be in the way of the projectiles. This happened to me after I bought the car used, with very low mileage, and still under power train warranty. The dealer balked at first and tried to blame my tires until I mentioned the recalls. They then fixed it under the power train warranty. No less than 2 weeks later the same exact issue occurred yet again! (I had been nowhere near the clutch pedal and had not shifted for quite some time during either occurance) I pulled over immediately and shut down because I knew what had happened. It felt exactly the same. Now the dealership is insisting this isn't the case and that I get my auto insurance carrier involved. Simply because it projected a different way!!!!! I have been driving a manual transmission for almost 30 years now and have never had any kind of issues in the past with any vehicles I have driven. This is ridiculous! does someone have to lose their life before anything real is done?????.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2022

I own a 2018 Jeep Wrangler jl (4-door) that I bought new. It only has 7,522 miles on it and has never been off-road. On 12/3/22, I was driving on the interstate at the speed of 70 mph when my Jeep began shaking vigorously and the steering became almost uncontrollable. I had to take evasive action, move over to the far right lane and slow my speed rapidly. Once my speed was under 30 mph, my Jeep began driving normally again. This occurred when I drove over the beginning of a small bridge where there was a minimum change of the driving surface. As I continued driving on the interstate, the same action occurred when I drove over the next change in the surface road. This time I was only traveling at 50 mph and had to slow down to 20 mph to get the vigorous shaking to stop. I took it to my local Jeep dealership today (12/5/22). After they inspected my Jeep, I was advised that the steering damper was weak and outdated. I was also advised that they had already replaced the steering damper once due to the "customer satisfaction note" issued by fca. The dealership then stated that fca has revised the steering damper since the one that was replaced under the note but that I would have to pay for this repair because fca hasn't issued a recall or safety notice regarding this known issue. At the low miles of 7,522 on a Jeep Wrangler that I bought brand new, I am going to have to pay for a repair to a known safety issue. Even after replacing the steering damper that they knew was defective once, I am going to have to pay for a 3rd steering damper that has been revised because the 2nd one put on by fca was defective. This is a serious safety issue and is known by fca but they are refusing to admit the issue and are making their customers pay for their defects. I will include a copy of my service report from the Jeep dealership.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2022

My Jeeps backup camera randomly works. This is a huge safety issue. I’ve taken it to Jeep who said there were no recalls and made me pay close to $300 out of pocket to “update” my radio system. I am still having the issues and can’t afford to keep taking the vehicle back to troubleshoot further. This is a major safety issue as it’s not guaranteed my camera will work and if it does fail there is no telling when it will start working again. If you search forums you’ll see this issue being present with Jeeps since 2016 to now. All different years. Please let me know what can be done or if additional info is needed.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2022

Driver side sun visor has a failed connection to the vehicle frame, resulting in the visor falling down in front of the driver's field of view. This happened spontaneously and nearly resulted in a crash. This is an issue many owners of Jeep Wrangler jls have experienced. The design of this connection has not changed. On August 3,2022. I was driving on the city street crossing the railroad track on 40 speed zone. As soon as it passed, the Jeep starts shaking for a minute or so then it stopped. So I thought it was weird but I though it might have been just the railroad on October 22, my sis and are on the freeway, about to merge to the left lane to a different freeway, I felt the Jeep was hitting a pump. Then immediately the Jeep starts wobbling and shaking that I wasn't able to hold on the steering wheel. I was soo scare that I'm going to hit the other cars and cause accidents. I took the foot off the gas paddle , just let it be while I'm still holding the wheel. Trying to move to the right lane , it was just impossible. The Jeep was like jumping around. The wheel was so stiff just cannot move. Finally after awhile the wobbling stopped. I slowly move the Jeep to the right lane and drive to the nearest exit. Then I called the dealership right away and told them what happened. Will get back to you soon, that was the answer I got each time I called that day. Which I had called at least 4 times. Next day my friend told me to take this dependable car dealer shop, it has lots of good review and highly recommended. Left the Jeep there for couple of days> it was tested with high speed with high bumps. No problem was found. Since then I tried to avoid the freeway, I got nervous driving on the freeway with these bad experience nov13,22 meeting a friend because of the distance I have to get on the freeway. I was more conscious, I'm holding steering wheels with both hands. After 7 to 8 miles , sure enough the wobbling starts but since I have both hands holding it , I was as frightened as the precious time. After the wobbling stopped, I drove slowly to the destination. With all these scarcely experience. Every time I drive , I'm really nervous. Finally I took it to the dealership. It was diagnosis the steering damper. Unfortunately, it was back order till March or April this year. So,.

This started out intermittently after hitting a bump in the road, but now the vehicle shakes uncontrollably at 50 mph and above. The vehicle feels like it is falling apart. I need to put my hazzards on and move slowly to the side of the road and come to a stop to get the shaking to stop. I have several videos of the condition, but they are too large to upload (11mb and 33mb). I am taking my vehicle to the dealership in hopes they can fix this. There is an open class action lawsuit with Jeep over a similar issue. I also have already had the steering stabilizer recall performed.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2022

Vehicle violently shakes after hitting a bump or other imperfection on the freeway.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2022

The Jeep was being driven to a dealership to get checked for recalls due to the engine stuttering and stalling, radio and navigation not working, and just not running right. All of the sudden the engine ‘blew up’ and it stopped running. The Jeep was rolled to the side of the road and oil was seen leaking out of a hole in the underside of the engine. Pics were taken. It was towed to a dealership. No inspection has been performed yet to determine what the cause of the catastrophic failure is.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2022

I had just purchase this used with 19000 miles on it. It had already had all of the recalls performed for the clutch. I was on the highway in moderate traffic, when the clutch suddenly fell to the floor for no reason as I had already been in fifth gear for a while. Then the vehicle lost all power and there was a clanking noise and it seems like it was on fire with all the smoke billowing. I miraculously made it from the high speed lane over to the slow lane and luckily there was an off-ramp right there. It only made it about 50 ft and died. By the time the dealer looked at it and told me there was thousands of dollars worth of damage I couldn't believe it. All over the same thing that had been issued recalls twice already. Luckily it still was under the powertrain warranty and they took it easy on me with the rest of the parts that weren't covered. But the transmission bellhousing was sheared in half by the clutch plate or something, it cracked my thermostat housing and my thermostat . We thought there was going to be engine damage as well. The entire transmission needed to be replaced due to the fact that the clutch flywheel had broken its teeth or something like that. The entire thing was just a major, major mess. The dealership had it for over 2 months and the rental fees were killing me. The entire thing was just so disastrous. I'm just glad that it didn't kill anybody.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2022

All warning lights on the dash lit up. All gauges (tach, speed, fuel) fell to zero while I was traveling at 55 mph. Engine stayed running. Power steering failed but would engage intermittently causing over steering when it caught. Found a safe place to get off the road and turned vehicle off for 1/2 hour. The vehicle ran fine afterward. Limped it to the dealer a day later and they diagnosed it as a "star connector" problem. They said they've seen it before. There's much discussion on the internet about it occurring with the 2018 Wranglers. Jeep said that the replacement connector is just the same as the one which failed so this could happen again if the connector is not improved. Loss of steering is life threatening especially when it goes on and off intermittently.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2022

2018 Jeep Wrangler jk sport unlimited rubber hood catch failed due to gust of wind generated by oncoming semi-truck on two lane highway (hwy 54) while being driven at highway speed. Luckily the other rubber catch and front center hood safety catch hook did not fail. Going on-line, one finds numerous complaints about this problem for some time and has been reported to you for the last couple of years. In discussion with Jeep dealership parts department, they said the part has not been upgraded.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2022

I have two issues to report. First issue was while driving on interstate the dash went completely out. Had no idea my speed, fuel level, navigation. . . . Nothing. I slowed down to get off the road. Stopped and turned off engine. Turned it back on and nothing. Then it just popped on. I was able to continue on my way. Then I started having the second issue. Second issue to report. The uconnect display monitor touch screen system is delaminating and now it changes stations, systems (navigation, weather, etc) on its own. I checked the Jeep blogs and this is a consistent problem for the past 8 years. There is an adhesive problem that Jeep/Chrysler is well aware of. To stop this flickering of stations from happening, I have to drive with one hand and take my finger on the other hand keeping it constantly pressed against sxm button . Or turn off the radio. This is a 4 1/2 yr old Jeep with 68,000 miles. Jeep will not do anything except replace it at retail cost. I am not alone with this issue. There are 100's of stories on the internet blogs. This should be a recall issue to protect the consumers from extremely poor quality from a company like Chrysler. They knew this was a quality issue jet continued producing a faulty product. They should be better than this and held accountable.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2022

First off the vehicle locked up with every light on. It had to be tolled. We put a new battery and it worked for awhile. Took to dealership with engine light on and the stabilizer track bar light is on. They fixed the clock screen. Soon as I left the dealership both light were both back on. I drove the vehicle home and its a wonder I made it. You cannot keep it on the road . The stering is all over the place. The dealership is hopless and I spent $ 900. 00 . Now what do I do.

54 Equipment problem

The service axle locker system warning light started to appear, and it means the lockers are either poorly functioning, or a wiring\electronic issue has occurred. This is dangerous either way.

The screen on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited is DE-laminating. It is causing issues with the touch screen and begins to do things on its own. It is a safety concern due to it being distracting while driving. I am not able to use the hands free mode.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2022

When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the auto shut off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire Jeep system.

Multiple times the check engine light, air bag lights, powertrain light have went off. I took it to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and reset the lights. The last time this happened, all power went out on my Jeep Wrangler. I pulled it to the side. Sat for a while and drove 20 home. I called the Jeep dealership and they inspected my car. 160 warnings were on the electric scan. The mechanic called Chrysler--they charged me almost a 1,000 to fix something in the steering column. I have no warranty as it has been over 3 years. I took my car back and the dealership mechanic said he wasn't sure if he fixed it and I should call Chrysler. We did. My case # is 82498233. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Since then, my car keeps losing power while I am driving. I pull it over and sit and then it starts working within 15 minutes. No one knows what is wrong with it. It is a 2018. 5 Jeep Wrangler. I am teaching my son to drive on it and it is very scary.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Since may of this year I have been trying to get my vehicle diagnosed and repaired. Multiple warning lights and messages go off at various times. Vehicle loses power steering and speed detection at a minimum. I have been to 3 different dealers at 5 separate times. A star case was opened by fiat/Chrysler but was closed despite lack of diagnosis by dealer and concerns that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I have spent thousands of dollars and communicated multiple times to fiat with no resolution. I have noted on various forums people complaining of similar issues. The following warnings are noted at frequent intervals; abs needs service, shift module needs service, do not shift, do not turn off power, traction control, battery warnings and many more. Every possible warning indicator is coding. At previous dealer visit to current, the dealer advised that they could not diagnose and told me to pick up the vehicle. I advised fiat and they supported me getting my vehicle despite concerns that it was unsafe. All documented.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2022

My back window on my Jeep Wrangler will not zip back up all the way. I have only unzipped the back window once, and that was to wipe the inside of the window because it was hard to see clearly though the back window. When I tried zipping the window back up, the zipper did not zip up all the way, and now there is an opening, and water is getting into my Jeep. The zipper has never been used except this time, so I could clean the inside of the window. This incident happened about a month ago, and now so much water has come through the opening, it has rusted and ruined my brand new jack and jack lift that came with my Jeep. Rain gets through the opening, especially if it rains really hard, and a puddle of rain will stay on my soft top, and when I go to drive it after the puddle of rain has been sitting on top of my soft top, that puddle drains right down the pack of my top, and gets down into the hole. I have also noticed bugs and insects getting through that hole and into my vehicle. Mosquitos usually always get through that opening every time it rains, and wasps get through it too. With wasps going in and out of this opening, I fear they may try to build a nest in my car, since they come and go out of that opening. I have 2 small children, and cannot drive around with this opening in my soft top with my kids. That it a dangerous situation, and the rain getting into that hole is ruining the inside of my Jeep.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

The uconnect screen is delaminating causing the screen to change and override all driver selections at will while driving. This is a safety risk because it is a huge distraction while driving when the system is changing settings back and forth while beeping. The problem was confirmed by my Jeep dealer and since I'm out of warranty it will be over $1,000 to replace. No, it was not inspected by any other party except the dealer. The only indication of the problem was you can visually see the separation by the appearance of a bubble in the screen.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2022

My Jeep makes a thumping/clunking sound when ever I take my feet off the acceleration and slow down . When sitting in the Jeep it sound like it's coming from the front end suspension but when I stick my head out the window to listen and look for the sound it's clearly coming from the rear axle . I've done extensive research regarding this issue on Jeep forums. I've found that this is a common issue among Jeep jl owners . All have experience sounds that sound like its coming from the front only to find our it coming from the rear and also to have entire axle replaced. I fear this is getting worst as many has also said that upon inspecting axle metal shavings are found in diffs .

I have a 2018 Jeep Wrangler jk unlimited sport. And it has been shaking controllably once I go over 40 mph or when I hit a bump. Sometimes it’s hard to control the vehicle when this starts to happen on the high way. I have checked for recalls but it’s not showing anything listed. But this is not safe for me or other people on the road near me. I have done repairs after repairs to try to fix this issue and I am still having this issue. Today it is heading back to the shop once again because I just had a bunch of work done and it’s still not fixed the shaking and now it’s starting to smoke.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2022

My Jeep experienced sever wobbling, as if the front wheels were coming off. So, I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the "death wobble. " when I took it to the autonation Jeep dealership, south, columbus GA. I was told that they had a recall on that 2 years and 3 months ago, and since the 2 year warranty expired, there was nothing they could do about it. If a recall doesn't work, then isn't the dealership still required to fix a manufacturer defect? my Jeep had an additional recall, which the dealership performed last week, and the dealership thought this new recall (computer update) might fix the death wobble problem. When I picked up my Jeep last week after this second recall, my heat and a/c no longer worked--all controls on the Jeep no longer worked. The dealership said they just followed the procedure in the recall, and since the recall resulted in the loss of my heat, a/c and defrosting, that I needed to deal with Jeep USA. I have submitted my case to customer care (fca us, llc) at Jeep USA, and they are telling me they might be able to ship a part in 6 weeks. My car has no heater. No accountability. I need to be compensated for the damages they have caused to my Jeep! thanks, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The vehicle intermittently fails to shift into gear when started. This also happens intermittently while driving (when stopped the engine turns off while the brake pedal is depressed. When the engine restarts to go forward it behaves as if it is in neutral and won't engage. ) additionally, on occasion, the instrument panel fails to function while in operation. . Read more...

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2021

I'm describing this is a steering problem, but it may easily include suspension as well. I've experienced the so-called death wobble several times since buying this Jeep. I had chalked it up as being part of having 4wd (though operating in 2wd), but I never had this problem with a much older Jeep, and it doesn't seem like it should be acceptable. Twice on this day traveling around 60 mph, the steering began to shake with the whole vehicle wobbling. I was able to stop it after slowing down below about 40 mph or so. I haven't found a common culprit, though it's been triggered by hitting bridge expansion joints on the highway. . . Particularly if I'm not going perfectly straight. I'm fearful of driving over 55 mph, and I don't think that's acceptable. While I kept control, I don't know if that will always happen. I fear losing control and possibly rolling over. It has not been reproduced or confirmed. It has not been inspected. No warning lamps or messages showed.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2021

Paint bubbling and rust accumulation on all 4 doors and door hinges, hood and hood hinges and varius body panels. Jeep has been taken to a Jeep dealership and no further communication from Jeep on if this is going to be corrected or not. Engineers should know not to put steel and aluminum together without proper coatings or protections.
