The car which is barely driven, suddenly caught on fire while parked in my home driveway after sitting there for close to 8 hours. So the car wasn't in use at the time. It's completely gone.
A recall repair was completed in 2023 related to an overheating warning. Recently, the same issue has returned. The engine cooling fan runs at a very high speed for several minutes and then shuts off, even when the vehicle is cold or operating under normal conditions. An overheating warning message appeared briefly while driving, but the temperature gauge remained within the normal range. This suggests the engine may not actually be overheating and that the issue may be related to a faulty sensor, electrical system, or control module. The problem has not yet been fully diagnosed by a dealer due to diagnostic costs, but the symptoms are consistent with the original issue that led to the recall repair. This condition could pose a safety risk because the driver may receive inaccurate overheating warnings or may not be alerted if a real overheating condition occurs. The issue is intermittent and has occurred both while driving and when the vehicle is stationary. Attempts were made to contact the manufacturer to report this as a repeat issue after a recall repair, but no resolution was provided and a formal case was not successfully established.
My vehicle is experiencing ev system failures, stalling, and system shutdown warnings that make the vehicle unsafe to operate. These symptoms began after a recall repair that was performed by the dealership. The dealership initially stated the recall was repaired, but the same symptoms have continued and have now worsened. The vehicle will display ev system warnings and will stall or shut down systems while driving. The air conditioning and other systems also shut down as the vehicle attempts to protect the electrical system. I have brought the vehicle back to the dealership multiple times regarding this issue. Despite the vehicle showing the same symptoms associated with the recall, I am now being told I may have to pay for additional teardown work unrelated to the ev system. This vehicle has become unsafe to drive, and I have requested assistance and escalation from dealership management but have not received a resolution. I am filing this complaint due to the safety risk posed by the vehicle stalling and shutting down systems while in operation.
While driving higher speeds (45 mph+) I have had my vehicle start shaking very violently which results in me having to slam on my breaks to gain control of my vehicle. When this happens I have been traveling on the highway or interstate which puts other drivers at risk due to me unexpectedly having to come to a halt to gain control of my vehicle. I have taken my vehicle to the mechanic multiple times (dealership twice and local mechanic twice) and I have had everything replaced on the front end that could cause this and it is still happening. Steering dampener has been replaced twice in a year. Mechanic seems to believe that there is a design flaw in the vehicle that is causing it at this point. There is no warning message or anything that gives me any warning. I am scared to drive my vehicle on the highway or interstate.
The high-pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed internally while I was driving at night, causing the vehicle to suddenly stall and shut off completely while my children were in the vehicle. This resulted in an immediate loss of power and created a dangerous situation in traffic. The failure caused metal debris to spread throughout the entire fuel system, and the dealership confirmed that the system requires full replacement. I was quoted approximately $15,000 for repairs. This vehicle previously had a manufacturer recall related to the fuel pump that was completed in 2022 and is now listed as closed. Despite the recall repair, the same failure occurred again. This demonstrates that the recall remedy did not correct the defect. The sudden engine shutdown without warning presents a serious safety hazard, especially at night and with passengers in the vehicle. Its been at the dealer ship for a month.
The uconnect radio is not functioning correctly at 55000 miles it refreshes and restarts intermittently and the rear camera is not operating properly after switching to drive from reverse. The image remains in the screen for an extended period of time causing a view of the rear of the vehicle as it is driving forward. This gives a skewed perception of what is going on around the vehicle. It’s is distracting and confusing until the rear view camera returns to the “drive” condition of the vehicles transmission and removes the view of the rear of the vehicle from the radio.
Recall 68c has not been remedied on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN 1c4jjxr67mw674456). Details are as follows: recall: battery / high-voltage system (recall 68c) status: failed battery test, vehicle held at dealer delay: quoted 4–8 weeks waiting for replacement battery impact: vehicle unusable / safety-related immobilization mileage: 34,000 dropped off: doug smith cjdr on January 8, 2026.
I reached out to my dealer at the beginning of Jan after I received the notice that the recall repair was available. The dealer told me that they have no record of the recall for my vehicle. The dealer has been unresponsive since I complained.
On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the Jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with raidon's of kirkland in which the performed recall services.
Ev battery recall without resolution. After receiving the recall notice and scheduling service at the dealership, the Jeep was kept for 6 weeks and they replaced both the ev battery and the starting 12v battery. After driving the vehicle for less than a week, the ev battery started making gurgling and bubbling sounds after starting and continued for about 30 sec - 1 minute after turning off power. No message or warning lights have indicated any type of issue. The dealership said the car is not safe to drive and asked me to have it towed to the shop. I have had to pay almost $3,000 out of pocket for a rental because I use my car for work. My reimbursement is still processing and my vehicle is back in the shop. This was the 4th attempt to upgrade the software and the first time replacing the battery to my knowledge.
Basically stated, death wobble, after looking up symptoms. At 65 mph on the highway, hit a bump and the entire Jeep shook uncontrollably. I just purchased it used not 10 minutes prior to the incident. The dealership failed to mention this and sold it as-is.
The 1st time it happened I was getting on highway and went over a crack in road and my Jeep started vibrating violently. Totally scared me but once I slowed down it stopped so I figured it was a fluke thing. My hubby drove it to seattle and going 70 he went over grooved pavement and the shaking happened again. Third times a charm at 65 and didn't go over anything and it scared the crap out of me so bad I slowed down to 30 in a 60 in order for it to stop. Immediately contacted dealership and was told it would be hundreds of dollars and it isn't covered under warranty. I bought this Jeep brand new, only has 41,000miles and dont beat her up on off road because she is my daily driver. This violently shaking is scary and this could really do a new driver some harm and needs to be addressed and fixed in all Jeep vehicles.
Hello, I am writing to escalate an urgent issue involving my vehicle recall and my scheduled shipment. I have paid over three thousand dollars to montway as my broker, and at this point all involved parties have failed to provide a clear solution. I cannot move forward without immediate support. My Jeep is experiencing a recurring battery recall for the seventh time. This is a product defect that is outside of my control. My vehicle is scheduled to ship through pasha in the coming days, and the recall must be resolved before drop off. Pasha has informed me that I cannot keep the vehicle at the port before the appointment window, and montway has not provided any realistic guidance on where the vehicle can be safely held. I hired montway to help coordinate this process. I paid for professional support. Being told to find a holding location myself while coordinating a safety recall is not acceptable. I need all parties to provide real solutions and support. I need the following: written confirmation from Jeep that the recall service will be completed at no cost to me and that my VIN is being handled as a priority case. Written confirmation from montway that my shipment schedule remains active and that I will not be charged additional fees caused by this recall. Clear guidance on the correct next steps for temporary holding or drop off timing so I can comply with pasha requirements without further disruption. I am not responsible for additional fee that has been involved due to the recall alert from 2 days ago, just a few days before my vessel departs. I have now been informed that I may need to pay additional costs due to delays and complications caused by this recall. I need to make it very clear that I am not responsible for any extra fees related to this situation. This recurring defect is a Jeep product issue and has nothing to do with my actions or maintenance. I should not be financially penalized for a repeated safety failure that is fully docume.
I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler and it started running poorly. I was near the dealership. I called them and told them I was headed to them ASAP. (I was within 3 mile range). The car died in the middle of an intersection. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. I got a tow truck to bring it to the dealership. Where they told me that the coolant tube fasteners for my vehicle were gone, and that the engine was blown, including the pump. Elbow screws were missing for the vehicle and coolant was everywhere in my vehicle. My car has 46,000 miles on it. It has had every single oil change ,reported recall done and service request to complete completed. . It has been taken very well care of and has only been to this one dealership. . According to the dealership, it is not covered under my powertrain warranty, and that I must pay for the engine and other parts myself. Upon looking into this, I looked into the NHTSA and also the fca for recalls on a 2021. I found that that my 2021 would have been recalled for recall number zd8. Recall code is exactly what is wrong with my 2021 vehicle. I don’t know why they didn’t did not add my VIN number to it, but I am requesting that it be investigated to help me get this covered under warranty. I have contacted Chrysler currently they’re telling me that the engine is not available until November 17 at the earliest so at this time I am in a rental car that I am paying for. . I do believe that my VIN number for my vehicle should have been added and that it should be investigated for other owners of Jeep Wrangler 2021 and 2022 vehicles that possibly were not listed with their VIN numbers. Please help expedite. Chrysler case # 94425835. Dealer code 45091 and customer number 81103. Thank you.
My husband was turning left from one highway to another highway when a car who was trying to pass multiple vehicles behind us hit us on drivers side as we were turning causing my 2021 Jeep to be pushed completely off the road and into a ditch where we hit a large pole/electrical pole. We hit the pole so hard that it moved it. Our air bags did not deploy at all. I got a notification on my Jeep app stating that there was airbag failure. My husband and my body were shook pretty bad from the incident and could have been seriously injured due to the impact. Our Jeep was towed to the body shop and they stated the gentleman working there told my husband that our airbags should have deployed.
On 7/13/25, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler unlimited with approximately 50,000 miles on it spontaneously caught fire as I was driving down the highway. The fire appeared to start in the engine compartment and very quickly moved to the entire front end of the vehicle. I pulled over on the side of the road and managed to safely exit the vehicle without physical injury. In minutes, the entire vehicle was consumed in flames. The fire department arrived within 10 minutes. When I departed the scene of the incident, fire fighters were still spraying water on the vehicle. After leaving the scene, I went to the hospital for psychological injury related to the incident. The investigation into the fire is currently underway. I do not have additional information about the cause or specific location of the fire. The vehicle is currently at a tow yard and is a total loss. It is nearly unrecognizable aside from the frame and a few components in the far rear. I am in the process of documenting all upgrades and modifications. Since it was fully built for off-roading and overlanding, it is a long and challenging task to take inventory of every part. Approximately 3 months before the incident, the vehicle was towed to a local cdjr dealership for a factory recall, where the entire fuel system was replaced. There were no other issues with the vehicle.
Coolant, leaking from Jeep Wrangler overheated, took it to my personal mechanic, who pointed out that there is a known issue and handed me the customer notification zd8 coolant leakage, which states that the vehicle should be taken to a dealership and that the repair would be covered. I took it to the dealership. I was told that it is not covered and now I'm being charged over $500 for something that is a known issue. I have tried calling mopar. I've tried calling other eight hundred numbers to get someone to explain this to me yet. No one seems to be able to tell me anything. Other than there are no open recalls, which I already know can someone please explain why a known issue is not covered?.
Coolant leaking, engine overheating, dealer says not covered issue despite it being a known issue (see customer satisfaction notification zd8 coolant leak. But dealership is going to charge me over five hundred dollars to replace a gasket and use some lock tight on my vehicle. I understand there isnt a recall on my VIN in particular but I also can read and the narrative in the above mentioned notification matches my vehicle. 2021 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 2. 0 turbo engine. So why am I paying out of pocket for a "known" issue?.
I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe unlimited, which has undergone three manufacturer recalls and two separate service (one handle during a recall visit) visits due to charging failures. The recalls were related to defrost system malfunctions, sudden loss of motor power, and high-voltage battery concerns. Each of these issues was addressed solely through **dealer-installed software updates**—updates that could not be completed over the air. These recalls and service visits highlight a troubling pattern: the vehicle’s core systems—including the bpcm, idcm, pim, tcm, and hcp—are deeply interconnected and dependent on one another. So far, my vehicle has required a total of * software updates**, with some systems needing multiple revisions. Most recently, Jeep addressed a “not charging” problem by once again performing a software update—this time affecting **five of the seven systems previously updated during recalls**. Despite the problem originating from their software architecture, Jeep charged me **$200 for the update**, even though it stemmed from an issue caused by their failed over-the-air deployment strategy. These recurring failures are not isolated incidents—they represent a systemic flaw within the vehicle’s hybrid management and safety systems. Relying on repeated software patches to resolve critical defects is not only unsustainable—it’s creating **unsafe driving conditions** and placing an unfair burden on the owner.
Date: [xxx] subject: immediate safety concern – 2021 Jeep Wrangler sahara 4xe – acceleration failure dear Jeep customer care, I am the owner of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler sahara 4xe, VIN [xxx] , with approximately 50,000 miles. I am writing to report a critical and potentially fatal safety defect that occurred multiple times on [xxx], most notably at the intersection of [xxx] and [xxx] in oregon. On multiple occasions, when attempting to accelerate from a full stop into an intersection with cross traffic traveling at 55 mph or more, the vehicle failed to respond to throttle input. Instead of accelerating, the Jeep simply rolled slowly into the intersection despite my foot fully depressing the accelerator pedal. This placed me at immediate risk of being struck broadside by oncoming vehicles at high speed, which could have resulted in catastrophic injury or death. The check engine light was on since [xxx] and my husband drove the Jeep to lithia Chrysler Dodge of bend (oregon) on June 4th, 2025, 12 pm. They ran a computer test and told my husband that there was a recall on the battery but that we could still drive the car, and it was safe but not to charge the car (we followed instructions). We couldn’t even secure a vehicle appointment until July 2nd, 2025. How do you not prioritize a potentially critical situation? this defect is entirely unacceptable and renders the vehicle unsafe for operation. I will not drive the vehicle further due to the danger involved. Given the severity of this defect, I request: •immediate investigation by Jeep/fca engineering and technical teams. •safe transport (towing) of the vehicle to an authorized service center at Jeep’s expense. •full documentation of the inspection, diagnosis, and resolution of this issue. •confirmation of whether this issue has been reported in other 4xe vehicles or constitutes part of a larger safety defect investigation. I am documenting this issue formally information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I’m terrified to drive my Jeep Wrangler because of fire hazard due to high voltage battery. Can I ask the dealer to buy it back?.
Unknown Jeep has been violently shaking uncontrollably while driving. Speed of driving has been between 30-75mph.
On April 15th 2025 my instrument panal clusters ipc which is main computer system of Jeeps 2018-2024. It has service lights for check engine, tire pressure, def system recalibrations/cleanings, tells me how fast I'm going, oil levels, all other fluid levels, when I need a oil change, how many miles is on Jeep, gas gage, along with all other issues or maintenance on a vehicle including if something is wrong or overheating of vehicle. After doing some research I did see there was a ipc recall on Jeeps/gladiators 2018-2024. After going on the website to check if my VIN qualified it was sadly not included. I ended up taking my vehicle into the dealership and paid out of my pocket 150. 00 to have my vehicle diagnosed. The dealership said it was indeed the ipc but also said my VIN number was not included which was a shock to them also since is a severe issue not being able to see anything on dash for my and other driver's on the road . They tried to submit a goodwill to Jeep corporate office which was sadly declined also. They advised me to park my vehicle and suggest that it was not safe to drive as I do not know when it needs gas an oil change or any other important issues that may be needed. After waiting 8 months patiently making payments not only for a vehicle I cannot use is ridiculous not till mention insurance on top of that something needs to be done weather it's fixing problems, giving me a rental, or just trading the vehicle in for a usable one. Thank you for your time in advance. I tried to upload photos of the diagnostics for the ipc also the denial of the goodwill. Oh and I forgot I was on the phone for 4 hours with fca 18003349200 customer care spoke to recall center spoke to shawn on 6/27/2025 @ 215pm after getting the run around and being transferred 6 different times to ann riley and josh wasting my time to get told I'm not able to speak to a supervisor and there was nothing they could do to help!!!!.
Since purchasing my 2021 Jeep Wrangler rubicon, the vehicle’s radio system has been defective, creating a significant safety hazard. The original radio (radio 1) had a short that drained the battery and was replaced by a dealer. The replacement radio (radio 2) has never functioned properly: the bluetooth system fails to stay paired, requiring manual re-pairing every time the vehicle is started. Multiple software updates have been attempted, but the issue persists unchanged. This defect prevents reliable hands-free phone operation, which is critical for safe driving. My wife uses this vehicle daily to transport our children to school, and the lack of a functional hands-free system forces her to either forgo phone use entirely or risk distracted driving, violating georgia’s hands-free law (o. C. G. A. § 40-6-241), which prohibits holding a phone while driving. This malfunction endangers my family and other road users, as it compromises the driver’s ability to communicate safely in emergencies or navigate without distraction. Repair history: * initial defect: radio 1 shorted and drained the battery; replaced with radio 2 (date unknown, within first year of ownership). * ongoing issue: radio 2’s bluetooth has required re-pairing every drive since installation, despite multiple dealer visits and software updates. * recent action: dropped off vehicle on April 11, 2025, at rick hendrick duluth (mileage: 48,177). Dealer staff (heather kratky and matt otis) stated Jeep has not authorized a fix and considers the issue unresolvable, leaving the defect unaddressed. * mopar escalation: escalated to mopar. Safety impact: the persistent bluetooth failure eliminates hands-free capability, a standard safety feature in modern vehicles. This defect directly contributes to distracted driving risks, particularly in a family vehicle used for school transportation.
My name is [xxx] . I am part of the the Jeep 4xe community. I have been heavily invested in the 4xe community from the very beginning. I have the first customer owned Wrangler 4xe, I run a youtube channel with over 9,000 subscribers and a facebook group with over 23,000 members. I have several concerns about the 4xe and the way Jeep is possibly mishandling safety issues. I would like to open a dialog with someone at the NHTSA to voice some of these concerns. There has been a lingering battery fire issue that Jeep has now addressed with two recalls. Stories of dealership mishandling are very common. We know if one Wrangler 4xe fire that has happened after the most recent 95b recall. There is also a high failure rate of a component that is called the electric coolant heater. This item is needed for defrost functionality when the vehicle is in electric mode. Many of us in the 4xe community have come to believe that Jeep should offer highly extended or lifetime warranties on this part since it is safety related and has been so problematic. I would like to assemble a team of 4xe owners to consult with the NHTSA on the issues we are seeing. We do not believe Jeep is handling these issues in a manner that is putting the customer safety first and would like to see how we can work together to protect the owners. Ev battery. Oct 4. Code for replace ev battery. Shop wouldn’t replace ev battery because another recall for ev came out oct 6. Recall not available until Nov. Appointment for Jan 6. Recall done. No codes for ev battery. Get 1 miles down the road. Won’t run in electric. Switched to hybrid 9 more miles it’s doesn’t use any ev battery. Get into town. No power to pull away from stop sign. I get home and park. Car doesn’t work any more. Won’t turn off. Not all the way. Try to move it. No power. This is going to kill somebody. No throttle at all.
Metal chunks found in engine oil, and as were not metal powder swirl, shavings, or specs, possibly from bottom engine crankshaft. At the crank pulley, with the belt off, I could feel nudge by hand from the middle, for an engine component with max specified endplay 0. 012 inches, or fraction of a millimeter. An existing manufacturer recall, and not a safety recall, for this 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2. 0l turbo is inspection for loose bolts for water pump inlet. This vehicle will not be available for inspection requests, because it is still not, and waiting to be, diagnosed as the dealer could not necessarily hear an engine issue. I have heard it knock, like a rumbling v8 and turbo whined, and recently I decided to strain the old and knocking oil that I kept and discovered metal. There was something wrong all along. Top engine, with good gas mileage, has been fine. The safety concern to this vehicle is metal in oil to possibly enter top engine and create sudden or instant engine seizure while in operation. The safety of driver or others could be at risk. The safety concern to this vehicle is also the detioration of engine components since they appear under the sole discretion of this motorized vehicle. This means, no other factor known to the driver of this vehicle by which rate of engine detioration has occurred. An indicating observation to be made into this vehicle's safety is the endplay of the crankshaft. This vehicle is nearly 97,000 miles odometer. The endplay seems very excessive, causing me to speculate on original factory fitment and installation during assembly. What determinations into a non-safety recall of loose water pump bolts might emerge as consideration into engine interior deterioration, as rate of this deterioration appear under sole vehicle discretion and remain unknown to the driver. Insufficient cooling is known to cause buildup in any engine, this vehicle has burped coolant air. No warning lights in the dash was seen.
I have been having random issues with my backup camera on my vehicle and noticed the recall only includes 2024 yrs. I have reported this to my dealership as early as right after purchase in Dec of 2021. I have had the vehicle for 3yrs and it the back up camera stops working randomly at minimum once a month and probably more often than that. My dealership every time I take in for service cant find any issues but now that there is a recall I would like to be included in it.
After performing the 95b recall, within 20-30 miles of driving the cel came on. After powering off and back on the “service charging system” alert displayed on the dash. The vehicle seemed drivable however, and I proceeded to drive it to the dealership two days later which is about 4 miles away. In multiple instances when trying to accelerate from a stop the vehicle would not accelerate to more than 3-4 mph for multiple seconds leaving me stranded pulling out across traffic in the middle of an intersection waiting on the car to accelerate to a normal speed. Regardless of how much the accelerator was pressed the vehicle just rolled forward very, very slowly. Eventually, the vehicle lurched forward violently. Within this 3-4 mile drive this happened 3 times. The car remained jerky and unpredictable. I was fortunate to be driving at a low traffic time and made sure to allow extra space due to feeling the car acting slow after the cel appeared. Had I treated it normally during normal commute hours, I would have been hit by oncoming traffic. I left the vehicle at the dealership and am waiting on response.
I took my Jeep into the dealer for my 4xe 95b recall. They did not show me pass or fail my car went in on no battery 2 1/2 hrs later they said my car was done. I do not believe they completed the drive cycle test to show pass or fail my odometer reading was only a few miles more then when I dropped it off and no battery charge gas gage hadn't moved. There is no way they did a complete drive cycle. They didn't charge it to over 75% they did not drive it until it was a warm enough temp to run the test. I got nothing but a receipt stating recall software update was done and drive test done. Nothing about if it passed or failed. And under my Jeep app they put miscellaneous vehicle inspections. The recall still shows on my car.
There is a air filter behind the dash glove box that continues to move (makes sound) as if its running after the vehicle is off. When you open doors you can hear the noise of the filter or component or something making a noise.
I have had 2 separate incidents with this tow bar system. Both resulted in catastrophic failure of the equipment. In oct. 2024 while traveling in atlanta GA. A retaining pin came out of the tow bar on one side and resulted in the tow vehicle becoming uncontrollable. I convinced myself this was operator error. Since then, I replaced the damaged tow bar with the equivalent tow bar from etrailer. Again on fri [xxx] the same thing happened again with a lost pin resulting in uncontrollable vehicle while travelling through shreveport la. I firmly believe that this tow bar system has some design flaws that allows the retaining pins to dislodge while experiencing rough road conditions. This system is designed to flat tow a vehicle behind an RV. The RV in question is a 2024 jayco seneca rated to tow up to 10,000lbs. The vehicle being towed is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with an estimated weight of 4,500lbs. The tow bar system mentioned above is rated up to 6,000lbs. I have contacted etrailer and they have offered a refund. I think this system needs to be reevaluated for its safety designs. After picking up the 2021 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 4xe from the dealership for repairs to the rotors and struts and bearings, the Wrangler was running roughly. Before I was halfway home, I called the dealer back to explain the engine was running roughly, wasn't able to get over 40mph, and was acting as if it was going to stall or lose power. I stated I needed to bring it back because I wasn't going to be able to drive it like this. Before I got halfway back to the dealership, the Wrangler lost power and was making a noise as if it was going to blow up. I was barely able to get it off the side of the road and narrowly missed a rearend collision from the vehicle behind me. I was on a dark, heavily traveled two lane road during evening work traffic hours. Dealership did send a tow truck. This occurred late October of 2024. The vehicle is still at the dealership and is still not repaired or running as of today 4/25/25 although the dealer says they are working to locate the exact problem. The dealership state after initially suspecting the e-battery, it is an electrical problem but are unable to locate the exact location of the electrical problem. The dealership stated they have opened a ticket with stellantis and that stellantis sent a technician to examine the vehicle and determined that is indeed an electrical issue but did not know where the problem was or how to repair. It appears that the Wrangler is not repairable, and it is still under the manufactures warranty of 3 years/36,000. I have included service invoices that show there were 2 other incidents where the Wrangler would not start. In one other incident, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Just before the vehicle lost power, multiple warning lights began lighting up the dashboard, including (believe it or not) a turtle. I am uncertain as to what else came up, it was cold, dark and I was on a heavily traveled road during work traffic hours. A sheriff's department deputy did respond to my location.
On [xxx], I was in fort lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. I still noticed the smell did not go away. So I opened the windows & turned off the ac. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. This was completely a safety hazard to myself, two friends and the public. Luckily, there was a fire department just a few buildings down. They arrived shortly after the 911 call and put out the fire, preventing further damage to the surroundings. It was terrifying but thankfully we are all safe. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Beginning September 30th I experienced the death wobble while driving on the highway. It cause violent shaking of my vehicle. It stopped when I slowed to about 50 mph, each subsequent day after that it would start shaking when I reached a speed of over 60 mph. It is currently with the dealer to be repaired. Issues include: steering shock has air, also there is an updated longer shoulder bolt that holds the dampner that should fix the steering wheel shake. They also discovered the shock absorbers leak shock oil. In addition, I have had to replace the auxiliary battery placed 2x since I have bought and it is already draining to low levels, which will prevent the electronic system to work less than 1 year after replacing the battery last. These all are defects to the design and should be recalled as they are safety issues.
