Automatic Transmission Control Module problems of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler

I took my 2022 Jeep Wrangler to my local Jeep dealership for a 21d fire risk campaign recall inspection and powertrain software update. Car had to be towed to dealership a few days after services were completed, and was diagnosed at dealership, with an offline tcm, throwing a u0101 code. Car was in good working, driving order prior to the recall and software update and is now completely inoperable.

The engine/dash wiring harness connector xy230a suffered severe thermal degradation, resulting in a melted pin and causing a complete loss of communication with the transmission control module (tcm, code u0101-00) and continuous dashboard warning lights (service connection error). This vehicle has a chronic history of unresolved electrical failures, having been brought to stellantis puerto rico dealerships three times for the exact same issue, most recently in June 2026. This condition is directly related to the thermal and fire hazard characteristics described under safety recall campaign 26v363 (mopar recall 21d) for 2022 Wranglers. However, the stellantis regional warranty manager formally denied recall and powertrain warranty coverage based on routine oil change loyalty metrics and second-owner status. The dealership forced an upfront payment of $2,311. 38 under a partial diagnosis to replace the harness. The vehicle was rendered inoperable and held for 30 days and actually held in service. In addition, they don't bring loaner. The manufacturer's regional warranty manager from stellantis initially confirmed that I would incur zero costs for this repair but later retracted the decision formally denying recall and powertrain warranty coverage due the reason mentioned above. Regional management flatly denies any relationship between this melted harness failure, the active safety recall or the vehicle's electrical repair history I formally demand a full reimbursement of all repairs and rental expenses, and that my powertrain warranty and safety recall rights be fully honored as originally promised.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "service transmission continue in d - do not shift or turn engine off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (14375 s tamiami trl, fort myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the tcm was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132.

Cranked up Jeep and had no warning lights. Pulled onto highway, electronic stability control alarm sounded. Made it to stop light, stopped, Jeep did not cut off but showed an alarm where it would not move until it was put in park then back in drive. This happened 4 times then stopped. I turned off of the highway onto a different road, got up to speed (approx 60mph) the esc warning came back on and went off. Jeep did not cut off but it jerked a few times then the rpms shot up to around 9 without me pressing the gas. I was able to pull over, cut it off and sit for a min. Then I cranked it back up and it ran fine for about 5 miles then going about 60mph it lunged forward with no speed increase, rpms shot up again and a transmission code came up on the dash screen. I pulled over, my husband came and we put it on a trailer and carried it home. Ran diagnostics and changed both the main and auxiliary battery and it was fine for about a month. I went to run errands about a month later, got in and all the electrical would come on but it would not crank and all the gears on the shifter showed in orange and blinked instead of orange and white like normal. The electrical would not cut off without unhooking both batteries. Tested batteries, auxiliary was completely dead. Replaced it, Jeep still would not crank and the electrical stayed on unless the batteries were disconnected. Trailered it to the dealership, they did multiple tests to find out it was the tcm. First incident occured 12/18/24, second incident occurred 1/17/24.
