What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? my 2023 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 4xe (VIN [xxx] ) has experienced repeated failures in the high-voltage hybrid electrical system, including “service hybrid system” warnings, failure to hold charge, and loss of ev function. It has also experienced a dangerous front steering damper failure at highway speed. All components remain available for inspection upon request, and the vehicle is still in my possession. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the hybrid system failures have caused repeated drivability issues, unpredictable power delivery, and warnings advising me not to operate or charge the vehicle due to potential battery-related safety risks. More critically, the steering damper failed abruptly at approximately 75 mph, causing severe front-end instability, vibration, and momentary difficulty maintaining directional control. This failure created an immediate risk of a loss-of-control crash on the highway. Being instructed not to charge the vehicle for months due to safety recalls also indicates a high-voltage battery safety risk that could endanger me, my passengers, and others. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Multiple dealerships have documented hybrid-system faults, charging restrictions, and recall-related battery concerns. The “service hybrid system” fault has been observed and documented by authorized Jeep/Chrysler service centers. The steering damper failure was documented during service shortly after the highway incident, and the dealer confirmed the part had failed unexpectedly despite passing inspection less than 1,000 miles earlier. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the defects have been repeatedly inspected and documented by Jeep/stellantis dealerships. Intermitent severe shaking in steering wheel "death wobble". This happen around 10 times now and still dealer dont know how to fix it. During the event it cause you to panic and potential accident.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start immediately. The contact stated that after several attempts the vehicle started. While driving out a parking lot, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 6,000.
After hitting a bump driving normal highway speeds 45+ mph the car begins to shake and vibrate vigorously. It feels like you will lose control of the vehicle and the only way to stop these vibrations is to slow down to 30-40mph. Stopping like this on the freeway seems extremly unsafe when traffic is flowing. The dealership referred to this issue as the "Jeep death wobble" and it is apparently a known issue. The vehicle has been into the shop already twice and they have failed to correct the issue. The first time they replaced the stabilizer and the second time they were unable to replicate the issue to the traffic in the area and being not able to drive at highway speeds. Stellantis/fca have requested I continue to to drive this vehicle even with these issues saying this is not a safety issue.
The power steering pump squeaks and squeals at low speeds when turning the vehicle. Potential for power steering failure resulting in loss of control. Dealer stated the squeaking noise is normal. Dealer refused to do a proper inspection only an audio inspection. No warning lights.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel locked, causing him to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. Upon attempting to bring the vehicle to a stop, the contact stated that the brake pedal was stuck in its resting position, prompting him to pull the parking brake, which also failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. As a result, the contact stated that he collided with the vehicle ahead. An unknown warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failure being experienced. The air bags did deploy. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and later towed to the dealer, who declined to diagnose the vehicle due to the body damage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 10,000.
Was driving down the highway, warning lights on the dashboard illuminated. Lost power, engine and electrical power. Message to place Jeep in park came on. Pulled car to shoulder. It would not start for two hours. Tow truck arrived. Jeep would start. Taken to Jeep dealership and nothing was found wrong with it. Same thing happened one week later. I checked ant there is no recall for my specific car.
Two days into driving my brand-new Jeep I experienced the death wobble and lost control of my steering wheel on the freeway. I took it to the dealer they replaced the damper. But it happened again where I didn't have control but it didn't shake I just had to get off the freeway once I it stopped hydroplaning without it raining. The steering wheel is not straight and on different types of roads the car drifts and wanders. I am terrified of driving it on the freeway.

The contact stated that the fiber glass could cause health issues if inhaled. The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the rooftop once, and the freedom panels twice; however, the failure persisted as the replacement parts were made of the same materials. The contact stated that the dealer informed him that the top was made from trust and bonded fiber glass. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 40-60 mph, the steering wheel was shuddering back and forth, causing the vehicle to vibrate and to sway. The contact also stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle pulled to the left side. The contact turned the steering to the right in order to keep the vehicle in the lane. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the steering wheel was realigned twice; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 400.
I was driving 65 on the freeway when the steering suddenly goes out &stiffens so hard I could not turn the car. It was very heavy. Fortunately all the cars were going in the same direction &I managed to merge over but was at that point going about 40 on the freeway, which is dangerous in itself there was a major warning light that went on, but of course, bc I was struggling w/the car, I couldn’t read what it said, & then after I pulled over, I noticed another smaller warning light of the stop/start system, but from what I understand there could be any number of issues under that warning light the dealer has had my car for over a week they can’t find anything specific on the car. I have been looking at the Wrangler forums and heard similar complaints and similar incidences for over 6 yrs of dealers “fixing” this and that when in reality, it could be the 2 batteries in the car which are considered by many Jeep owners substandard coming from the factory, and it has been suggested I have them replace with mopar batteries, (not the same factory batteries ) but apparently the factory will not reimburse the dealers for the batteries so they avoid placing batteries at 700. - a pop when that could be the issue 75% of the time (that comes from experienced Jeep owners on this forum) if I had been in cross traffic, or if I had to avoid an oncoming collision or a side collision I would not have been able to maneuver the car and it could’ve been a disaster I doubt their ability to pinpoint the exact cause of this as they said they’ve never seen this kind of an incident before they were able to replicate the loss of steering, but they don’t know how they did it if they could replace this and that, but there’s no telling unless the incident happens again if it was really fixed, and I find this is too dangerous a chance to take as I could’ve been killed. No inspections of the component has been checked by anybody cause they don’t know what component is malfunctioning.

Since new in December 2023 this vehicle has excessive wander while driving straight. This requires constant correction of the steering wheel just to go straight. Anything less than 100% attention can result in loss of control. The wander is related to excessive free play of the steering wheel which allows approximately 2” in each direction from center before the tires move. Three visits to two Jeep dealers resulted in “functioning normally” diagnosis summaries. This is a safety issue in my opinion and Jeep at least needs a documented procedure for dealerships to measure the steering free play.

The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that vehicle steering was operating as designed. The dealer also advised that the electronic control module that communicated with the steering box and the steering wheel could override intended steering. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure was 13,000.
Our 2023 Jeep Wrangler has the "death wobble" which causes the front end of the vehicle to violently shake and the steeering wheel to almost cause loss of control. Jeep knows about this defect, as does the NHTSA. Jeep need to be mandated to do a recall and fix the issue.
No incident yet, but too much play in the steering. Constantly correcting from left to right to stay middle of the road.
