Was in a car accident. The Jeep was sitting at a traffic light when it was hit from behind by a SAAB 93 going about 30-40 mph. The seat belt did not catch on the Jeep and thus my forehead struck the steering wheel. I was told by the Jeep dealer that with this model Jeep the seats belts do not catch unless they are engaged just right. So because I was in a stopped position and was at rest it would not have caught. I went to the emergency room following the accident with a severe contusion to my forehead. Having said this, the Jeep itself held up extremely well in the crash. The police man on duty said it was what saved me from further harm. I am nervous to drive this vehicle not knowing if the seat belts will work in the future. I also have 3 child seats in this car and worry about those as well. The dealership said they do not check these and wouldn't check it after the accident even though I requested it. The car was in their shop for 3 weeks. Please investigate and let me know what can be done.

Vehicle goes into a violent shake (shimmy, vibe, wobble) when there is any change in roadway condition (bump, lip, hole, uneven roadway). My Jeep has not been altered in anyway. I have had the tires rotated and balanced. In addition my seat belt on the drivers side and front passenger belt both catch in the door - they do not retract. This has been an ongoing problem for 5 months.

I believe the Jeep Wrangler built by daimler Chrysler has safety defects that constitute a series of safety hazards. 1. Automatic transmission shifts and engine rpm accelerating on breaking. On several occasions my Jeep engine rpms raced and the vehicle leaped forward while breaking and coming to a stop. Since the problem does not happen with regularity the dealerships can find nothing wrong. 2. Front seat belts. The front seat belts do not retract smoothly, quickly and without getting caught in the door locking mechanism. 3. Full size doors. They do not close and secure fully as the door is ajar until you re-close the door with force. 4. Break noise. I get a consistent clack noise when applying the breaks. I have had the dealership work on this problem on five occasions to include a complete break service. The problem is still there. 4. Build quality. Since I bought the Wrangler I have had the radiator replaced (it leaked), all the spark plugs replaced (rough idle), inside right door handle assist and snap on front floor mat replaced, the computer reprogrammed (they said the factory did not do it right), fuel pump replaced (gas leak), seals around gas tank and gas cap (vapor leak), and the rear seals (which were not covered under my Chrysler extended warranty). 5. Chrysler extended warranty. Neither the dealership nor Chrysler wanted to address the break problem without me paying for a break service.

Seat belt failure due to retractor defect. The retractor does not return the belts which allows them to catch in the door latch and fray and rip. When submitted to damlier Chrysler the reply was that they did not have enough information to properly diagnose.
My drivers seat belt will pop open when I stop or turn or lean forward.

I was in an accident in October 2002 with my 2002 Jeep Wrangler x. I hit the person in front of me going about 40mph, and was then hit from behind. Neither airbag deployed, nor did the seat belt tighten. I hit my head on the stearing wheel. I tried to file a complaint with daimler-Chrysler corporation and was told since my vehicle was already being worked on there was nothing they could do about. I was in another accident August 8, 2003. Someone pulled out in front of me on the highway and I hit him going about 55 mph. The airbags again did not deploy. I am trying to get an answer out of daimler-Chrysler again and they keep giving me the run around about it.
The seatbelt strap exstension is very long while closing the door the strap will get caught up inside of the vehicle.
Front seat belts come unlatched randomly. Seat belts are fastened, the audible "click" is heard, then randomly, will come unlatched without provocation or warning.

I have had numerous problems with my Jeep Wrangler 1998. This is a partial list I sent to Chrysler:
I bought my Jeep with just 3600 miles on it from a dealer in 1999. From day one I started experiencing problems. Many of them I returned to the service department. Some they were able to fix, others, after many return trips, they were 'unable to duplicate the problem'. 1. Gauges would stop working while driving - I brought the vehicle in 5 times before they were able to duplicate and finally fix the problem. 2. This was also true of the blinkers that not always worked - or worked all at the same time. 3. My hazards still do not work every time. 4. The air conditioner goes out when driving, very uncomfortable when it is hot and raining. 5. The sound bar has never worked properly - first it would only come in some times - now never. 6. Headers are cracked - bad. They have been welded several times. When I went to have them welded it was found they were welded before my purchase - at 3600 mil!
they are still cracked, welding does not hold. I can not get anyone to replace them because even exhaust specialists say it is too cumbersome. The dealer charges way more than I have considering the number of repairs and the price of gas - at 12 mpg. 7. Drivers seat belt locks tightly with any amount of pressure on the brakes - it has now gotten to the point it locks just while driving. 8. Windows - the zippers broke almost immediately - I paid alot to have these replaced. The back window now has a cut in it and is very difficult to see through. 9. The top has never quite fit right; it has always leaked and been extremely noisy - more so than anyone else's that I know. It has also come apart at the seams. The dealership has not been of any help. They wanted to charge outrageous amounts just for diagnostics, even when I had the best warranty. I've also had problems with the door molding coming out immediately, grinding in the steering wheel, grinding while trying to put it in reverse and more.

On feburary 1, 2003, my daughter was driving a 2000 Jeep Wrangler at about 35 mph on a slight up-grade. She left about 20' of straight skid prior to a rear-end collision. Slight deformation to the bumper, a small dent and broken turn signal lens on right fender. She was wearing the seat belt and shoulder strap, yet sustained a broken nose and broken cheek bone from hitting the steering wheel. No airbags deployed. The shoulder strap did not prevent forward motion. Where can I get this vehicle examined and what information do you have regarding these specific devices? thank you, very much.
Seatbelt does not fully retract, causing the seatbelt to get caught in door.
The seatbelts on the driver's and passenger's sides do not release properly. They are very difficult to operate.
