When going over a bump in the road at speeds above 35 mph the front end shakes the steering wheel and it feels like the front end is jumping up and down and is hard to control. I have spent over 1k in parts and labor including a new stabilizer shock, drag link, tie rod ends and more. It still does it even after these repairs. The front end has been aligned and tires and wheels balanced. The vehicle is dangerous to drive and there does not seem to be a fix for it. Fca said replacing the steering stabilizer would fix it but had no effect. The cause has been labeled unable to determine. I habe had it at two different shops and a lotnof suspension/steering pieces replaced.

Unknown-apparently this is an on going Wrangler issue but was never recalled and I see no comments. I see all over the forums that this is a problem and it is driving me insane coming from the left front wheel well area not only during breaking, but both breaking and slowing down no foot on gas or break. There is a very large, creaking, loud, creaking noise, coming out of that area. It also makes the steering wheel bobble, which I think is causing what everybody is saying, the death wobble. I’ve taken it to Jeep . I have done multiple car washes. I’ve tried everything they are telling me that there’s nothing wrong with it but you can clearly hear that sound and it goes creek creek creek, creek, creek, creek, creek, over and over and over again until the car stopped, and there is also a loud grinding noise when you start the vehicle as well.
Experiencing the "death wobble" when driving on uneven paved roads/bumps/railroad tracks at speeds as low at 40 miles per hour.

The car and steering column start vibrating very aggressively and it is difficult to control the vehicle. It has happened 4-5 times since purchasing the vehicle in September. Sometimes it occurs after hitting a bump or pothole, but not always. Something is very wrong and it seems dangerous.

Has a severe wabble in the front end at 70 mph to about 73 mph.
When operating the vehicle about ~50mph, and if you drive over a pothole, or bump in the road, the frontend of the vehicle wobble/vibrate uncontrollably. The only solution (I have found) is to lower the speed (which is obviously a problem on the freeway). I purchased the vehicle new from the dealer, have not made any modifications, and they (the dealer) is telling me the tires are the source of the "death wobble" problem. I have spoken to other Jeep owners that have had the same issue and it had nothing to do with the tires. The solution from the dealers perspective is "replace all four tires" (they claim its the firestone brand of tires) at my expense.
At about 44,000 miles driving over 60-65 , going over a bump, or going around a curve at. A slower speed the Jeep would violently shake, where you almost lose control. I took to the shop they replaced tie rod ends, drag link, track bar and that didn’t solve the issue they now replaced the something with steering and it’s better but still shakes a little when changing lanes. It is honestly the scariest thing ever. Something isn’t right and should be looked into, I am not the only one with this issue and soon as my lease is up I am getting rid of it. Keep in mind I live in mn and have done no off-roading. Someone is going to crash of these issues do not get fixed.
I almost actually died twice on a road trip when I hit uneven pavement on major interstates and had to come to a complete stop in the middle of a major highway with semi trucks swerving all around me. This Jeep has the death wobble and I can't get anyone to recreate the issue to get it fixed.

I am filing this complaint due to a serious and recurring safety issue known as the “death wobble” on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited jl. This defect causes violent front-end shaking at highway speeds when hitting bumps or making minor steering corrections. The issue began during the first week of ownership and has persisted through five separate service visits. Repairs have included steering damper replacements, track bar, alignments, and balancing, but the issue continues to return. A dealership technician confirmed the shaking on October 9, 2023, during a test drive at over 70 mph. The vehicle was only sent to a certified Jeep service center on the fourth visit. After researching the problem, I found this is a well-documented and widespread issue among Jeep owners — especially on Wrangler models of certain years. There are numerous forums, websites, and videos where other owners describe the exact same symptoms, often with no long-term resolution. I shared this information with the dealership to help them understand the seriousness of the issue, and only then did they investigate further. I have video evidence of the defect, technician confirmation, service records, and text messages showing dealership delays. This defect creates a major safety concern, especially with children in the car, and could easily cause an accident.
Took Jeep to dealership it had 36,000 miles they worked on it for 40,000miles service and to ck wobble on Jeep mechanic took Jeep for test drive it exploded luckily he new how to escape I don’t know what the cause of it was insurance are taking care of it.

Occasionally, the vehicle's front wheels bounce out of control at normal and high-speed. It appears to happen on the right front.
Violent shaking of the front end (wheels/tires and steering wheel) after hitting a bump in the road. The “death wobble” occurred twice since I bought the vehicle new from a dealership about a year ago. The miles are low (2,000) as the Jeep is my extra vehicle, and no modifications have been done. The first time it happened I was going about 55 mph, and the second time about 65 mph. After the second incident I reviewed the internet and saw the death wobble class action suit that does not cover post-2020 Wranglers. Both incidents occurred during the day on dry and well maintained roads. I made a dealership appointment after the second occurrence, but can’t get in until 1/9/2024. Loss of steering/control in traffic makes this a serious issue.
After hitting a bump driving normal highway speeds 45+ mph the car begins to shake and vibrate vigorously. It feels like you will lose control of the vehicle and the only way to stop these vibrations is to slow down to 30-40mph. Stopping like this on the freeway seems extremly unsafe when traffic is flowing. The dealership referred to this issue as the "Jeep death wobble" and it is apparently a known issue. The vehicle has been into the shop already twice and they have failed to correct the issue. The first time they replaced the stabilizer and the second time they were unable to replicate the issue to the traffic in the area and being not able to drive at highway speeds. Stellantis/fca have requested I continue to to drive this vehicle even with these issues saying this is not a safety issue.
Abs anti lock break system , intermittent warning on the dashboard, brake and traction lights. Pep boys and auto zone both describe there is an internal malfunction with no specific codes , they can not prescribe a fix as the speed wheel sensors are working ok. Jeep forums say it may not be safe to drive as wheels may lock under hazardous driving conditions.

Wheel studs sheared off on the highway and the tire dismounted from the vehicle while in transit. Wheel studs are being replaced but will be available for inspection. The wheel hit another car and this could have caused a worse accident as there were no functioning brakes and steering was impacted. No advanced warnings were present.

2020 Jeep rubicon - wife was driving 60 mph on highway, went over a small bump and the steering wheel began shaking violently causing her to lose control. She was able to gain control and get to the side of the road, almost getting hit by several vehicles. She turned the Jeep off and restarted. She began traveling again, going slower this time, and it didn't happen again for about 30 minutes. She again went over a small bump (the dividers in the road where it switches to a bridge) and it began to shake bad again. I read online that this is a known problem. This is not safe. She could have been hit, or she could have hit someone. She is so terrified, she will no longer drive the vehicle.
- the front suspension, steering and tires are available for inspection. - a safety risk occurred immediately as I crossed an uneven transition from asphalt to concrete at the beginning of a bridge. The steering wheel/front end/vehicle began to shake violently at highway speed and maintaining control became difficult. I was unable to keep the vehicle in my lane. I immediately decelerated and with a semi on my rear, was eventually able to slow enough to use one hand to engage emergency flashers. The shaking stopped at about 35 mph. I've since learned this is referred to as a 'death wobble'. - appointment made for dealership inspection on June 6, 2023. - there were no messages, symptoms or warnings.
Driving over 60 mph if I hit I bump the vehicle starts to violently shake. I then have to slow down for it to stop.
Driving own i95, heading south in maryland, hit a bump and vehicle started shaking/wobbling, almost lost control and had to slow down until vehicle stopped wobbling. This happen 6-9 times that day. Also has occurred several times in NJ on the turnpike and 280. Contracted Jeep hq, told to contact a dealer.
Hit a small bump in the road and the steering wheel and tires began shaking violently. I tried slowing down and the vibration continued until I was below 20mph on highway. Not the first time I have experienced this. I had tires balanced, rotated and pressure checked.
Recently experienced the "death wobble" on a high speed highway. My entire car started wobbling and seemed like I lost balance in all 4 wheels. Dealership claimed it was a defective steering wheel damper, in which is the steering stabilizer. This is so dangerous, especially going at a high speed on the freeway. This can potentially cause a huge accident. Please help recall.

This Jeep is unsafe. The Jeep has a problem when you are driving 70 miles per hour on the highway. If you go over a bridge with road bumps or hit a pothole, the Jeep goes into an uncontrollable wobble. I have to slow down to about 40 miles per hour to get the Jeep to stabilize. Suddenly needing to slow down because the Jeep feels like it will shake itself apart is incredibly dangerous. We tried to have it fixed at a dealer in vermont and they said it was fixed but it isn't. I took it to the dealer in albany NY today where we bought the Jeep and it happened again on the way. They tell me that it might take up to 2 months to get a part - a steering dampener - to fix the problem. This car is unsafe. How can there not be a recall on this issue?.
On the interstate, my Jeep developed the "death wobble" causing us to have to greatly decrease speed among other drivers. This issue continued after each small bump in the road that we hit at interstate speeds, causing the vehicle to shake violently and requiring me to decrease speed repeatedly among other fast-moving traffic. It eventually required me to have to move over to the slow lane for easy road departure if needed. After an attempted repair with a steering damper at the dealer, the issue returned 1. 5 weeks later, and after 2 weeks, my vehicle remains at the dealer while they try to figure out how to correct this dangerous issue.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that after driving approximately 300 miles at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started to wobble without warning. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The contact then stated that after driving the vehicle at 5000, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where all four tires were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but no diagnoses was determined as of yet. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 350.
Death wobble same as my 2008 Wrangler that I traded in for a newer model and same problem! someone will die, it's terrible!!! it happened 3 times in 1 day. I can't take it on the expressway at all.
In late October I started experiencing a total vehicle body "shudder" when driving on the freeway and hitting uneven paving. This condition started getting worse and worse. The car was unmanagable when travelling at a speed over 58 and hitting uneven paving - the shudder took over the entire car and steering. There was no recourse but to try to safely pull over and stop the car. Upon research I found this is a now common occurence called the death wobble. Generally it happens in modified Jeeps however my car is les than two years old with less than 16,000 miles on it. When I could finally get time at the dealership I was met with, OH yes we had five new Jeeps in here just last week with this condition we are seeing it all the time. The part that is supposed to provide remedy is back ordered by at least three weeks - is this as there as so many incidents?. The dealership told me to take my car home until they had a part. The car is not safe to drive at any accelerated speed with this condition. There was no prior warning of this condition and nor would I expect it in a new vehicle but upon research I am learning how many people are experiencing this and questioning why there has not yet been a recall. The part offered as remedy by the dealership - the steering damper - has been identified as a "band aid" - and that it is likely the condition will re-occur. This is not acceptable or safe for any new Jeep owner (or any Jeep owner) I urge, no I beg you, to investigate this "death wobble" condition and strongly consider a recall for the manufacturer before there are serious injuries and deaths caused by this. Having personally experienced this it is a terrifying experience - the entire car feels like it is out of control and everything is going to fall off including the tires and that the axle will break - it makes me never want to drive that car again with any degree of confidence and feeling of safety. I urge you to just google death wobble. Please help.
I purchased my 2018 Jeep Wrangler and has less than 13k miles. I been having alot of front shaking (death wobble) since purchasing the vehicle. I have heard of complaints about the front end shaking violently and have had this problem a few times. Especialy at highway speeds if I hit a pothole as such. I can get it to stop if I am able to slow down and apply light brake pressure. I have checked all the steering for tight ess and even had the track bar replaced (as per other owners). But still have the problem occasionally. As for alignment, the Jeep runs really well and straight without problems. I hear theres possible problems with the aluminum steeringg box (which I do have) vs. The steel steering box (I hear has a recall??). Is there any other issues as this is really scarry. Other than the replacement track bar everything is stock on this vehicle. Behicle was purchased from cascade auto in wenatchee washington 22 July 2022 with 10,893 miles.
Vehicle violently shakes after hitting a bump or other imperfection on the freeway.
When driving down the interstate my 2019 Jeep hit a small bump in the road. Front end started shaking violently. At first I thought I had blown a tire but tire pressure warning did not show on dashboard. I let off the gas and it ebbed till gone. I was going 70 miles an hour when it started. It was intermittent through out the day and started each day after.
2019 Jeep Wrangler. Consumer stated that while driving on the interstate their vehicle began to shake violently.
The steering has become very loose, causing the vehicle to feel as though it were drifting with every bump. Entering into a parking lot, or going over speed bumps cause the vehicle to feel as though you are jerking the steering wheel back & forth, with the whole body of the vehicle rocking. Changing lanes requires the upmost care when merging, so as not to cause too much movement, otherwise the entire vehicle rocks back & forth as though you were off-roading on extremely uneven turf. God forbid you attempt to avoid hitting something that jumps in front of you car; that is bound to cause the car to flip! doesnt matter if you're traveling 5mph or 65 mph, the drifting is obvious & pretty scary.
I am now trying, for the third time, to have Jeep dealership resolve a classic symptom of "the death wobble" that has manifested for the last year with our under 20,000 mile vehicle. Two hours ago, I encounter a sever episode of a recurring issue with my 2021 Jeep. At speeds above 50mph, the Jeep's front-end will begin to shake violently after crossing the leading edge of a a bridge on the florida turnpike. The oscillations which rotate the steering wheel can become violent and will not smooth out for up to a quarter mile. Two dealers have replace steering dampeners and more recently front shocks. The replaced shocks seemed to work but now, less than three two months late, the death wobble is back and worse. At the moment of wobbling, the Jeep is not safe. It would be even more dangerous for folks who may be on snow and ice. I have been driving for over 50 years and am also a very good mechanic. My 2021 is the first year of the hybrid and perhaps the front-end geometry is at issue.
I experience extreme shaking of the steering wheel when traveling in the freeway and hitting a small imperfection on the road causing the care to shake and the steering wheel to vibrate violently to the point I have slow down abruptly from 70mph to under 50mph. Took the Jeep to have it check after a day the dealer was not able to reproduce the issue, advised them of the speed that it happens at and are not willing to work on it. They are asking me to pick the car up. No warning prior to issue happening, you can be driving smoothly down the road up to 80mph once the imperfection in the road is hit the car starts vibrating/shaking.
The steering is loose and the vehicle drifts while driving. We cannot maintain straight driving without continuous movement of the steering wheel. The vehicle feels unsafe at all speeds. This vehicle is probably maintained with routine tire rotation. Front passenger tire has had excessive wear. All wheels and tires have been changed with no result. Chris franco.
I purchased the vehicle from loperena auto sales based on a video and phone conversation with eddie loperena who said nothing was wrong with the vehicle expect maybe a left front tire. On March 31 I wired ($14, 995. 00) to loperena auto. I hired a transportation company to transport the vehicle to my home address in bedford nh - the vehicle arrived with a ripped temporary plate, 1 key, copies of bill of sale but no title. He informed me the title was coming (on April 20th still no title) and to relax. I ordered four new tires (as they were all bad and would not pass inspection) and they arrived a few days ago so I took the Jeep to tire warehouse and they said the vehicle has some issues and they recommended I take the vehicle to a mechanic. I texted eddie from lopererna who informed me that this was a used vehicle and he does not check anything in his cars including brakes, engines nothing - this was a completely different tune than when I spoke with him before when he said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. He then called me a text gangster, so I called him and became belligerent and asked me if I knew who I as dealing with and come down to the dealership. I told him the car needed work which was different than what he told me on the phone before purchasing the vehicle and he again said he never checks his cars. . They are used cars. I took the vehicle to my local mechanic and he said the car was a lemon. The car needs new front bearings, two new u joints and if they are stuck to the front axle then a new front axle, rear axle seal and additional bearings. He then said there is so much oil on the engine that it is a fire hazard (must not be driven) and he cannot determine where the oil is coming from without pressure washing the engine but at a minimum the whole engine needs to be resealed. Answers: engine, tires and axle failed inspection and yes. Definite safety risk! inspected by mechanics and police. No lights at all and only made aware at mechanics shop.
