Since purchasing my 2005 kia Amanti air bag light has been on; the vehicle has never experienced an impact which would cause the airbags to deploy neither have any of the airbag components ever been tampered with. The throttle control of the vehicle is extremely sporadic and often causes hesitation, lurching, no acceleration, and even loss of all power. I have had the dealership update the ecm and the tps replace but the problem still persisted. I noticed the throttle body plate was extremely difficult to actuate so I then purchased another throttle body and replaced my older one. Everything functioned as should be expected up until approx. 3 months ago the issues started back up again. I noticed the throttle body motor had started to become increasingly hot to the touch indicating an excessive amount of resistance within the motor circuit. Being that the problem is recurring, I feel the issue is located either within the engine wiring harness or the engine control module and it, as well as the ruined throttle body motor, need replaced at the cost of the Kia Motor company. The issue can, and has, caused numerous accidents, stalling in heavy traffic as well as lurching and speeding away of vehicles. A major safety issue is present and needs to be addressed.
Our 2006 kia Amanti occasionally will, when starting from a stopped position, will initially hesitate as if its going to stall. . . , then lunge/accelerate quickly forward. I've mentioned it to the dealers, but because it doesn't happen often, I've never really pressed them on this. . , but after reading the same complaint at this site, I wanted to document we also have experienced this. It probably occurs approx once every month, over the past couple years. It is potentially a dangerous condition, as the car could jump forward and hit pedestrians crossing in front of the car, or rear end cars near the front of the vehicle.

I bought a brand new 2004 kia Amanti. As I approached 30,000 miles the engine would periodically lose power while in operation, then restore seconds later. I reported the incident to my dealer. I ws told they would reset the fuel injection system, and that would resolve the issue. Since then the issue has surfaced (3) times. Two of the three times almost lead to a serious crash. During these precious few seconds (3-5) there was absolutley no engine power available. I notice it it seemed to occur when removing the foot from the gas pedal, then reapplying it to gain power. At this point the engine just dropped off. It will restore and race to high rpm seconds later. It has gotten to the point where I was afraid of driving the vehicle. It was a crap shoot everytime you needed to make a left turn across on coming traffic whether or not my car will lose power. It was not a stall, needed to restart the vehicle afterwards. The vehicle recovered on its own.
