Air Bag Light On Problems of Kia Motor Forte - part 1

I have a 2013 kia Forte with the airbag light on. I found a recall on 2011-2013 kia Forte for air bag: air bag/restraint control module where in an event of a crash, the air bag control may short circuit preventing the frontal air bags and seat belt pretensioners from deploying. I looked up my VIN # to find out that it was not on the list. It was diagnosed by a kia service department to be the driver anchor pretensioner. My question is why my Forte is not on the recall list? my request is to have my vehicle place on the list so we can have this issue taken care of. Thank you, mary denise brown.

My 2010 kia Forte has 62,751 miles on it and the air bag light remains on constantly when I am driving. I was parked in my carport and started the car to go to the post office to pick up my mail. The air bag light came on as usual but this time it stayed on (solid) and remains that way. I called the dealership and was told there was a recall for air bags for 2010 kia Fortes but mine was not included. I am a senior citizen living alone with limited funds and have no choice, I have to drive this car and am constantly in fear of losing my life or being severely injured in the event of a crash. That alone is a major distraction while driving. This is a safety issue and I don't understand if other 2010 kia Forte's were included, why mine was not. I believe my car should be included in the recall so the repair can be made by the dealership without a charge to me, which will allow me to quit living in fear and be able to drive safely.

The air bag light is on like if the bags deployed but they have not vehicle has not been in accident. They tell me it's low voltage in airbag sensor? vehicle was off turned on and the light came airbag deployed light came on and has not been able to turn off.

The airbag light stays on. I've checked and there are no error codes. Controls on the steering wheel also do not work and are unresponsive. The cruise control settings are unreliable and can lead to potential safety problems. After some research it appears to be a defective clock spring. Kia should cover the replacement under warranty.

Sometime during the summer my airbag light came on and my car has never been in an accident since I have bought it. I have owned it for 2 years. Also there is some kind of electrical issue to where certain buttons on my steering wheel dont work properly.

The radio turns it's self on and off. One minute the horn is working the next minute the horn is not working. The horn works when it wants to work. The airbag light came on out of nowhere the car was not in a wreck or anything of that nature. Same with the buttons on the steering wheel. If you use the buttons to change the song on the steering wheel it actually turns radio completely off instead of changing the song. And that happens with the volume button as well. I've already been to a mechanic and told them that I think there is an electrical issue but I just get looked at like I'm crazy.

My airbag light came on and then the steering wheel controls all are not doing what they are intended to do. I did a google search and it is saying the clock spring. It also states that they are made to last a life time of the vehicle. I took it to towbin kia in henderson nv. They confirmed it is bad and not covered under my extended warranty. This is a safety issue being it is the airbag in the steering wheel. And is very expensive to fix. I noticed on the google search many many other people are having the same issue. When I am in the drivers seat whether I am stationary or in travel motion the air bag light is on constant . The cruise control buttons do not do what intended. . . For example push cruise and it comes on but will go right off. The audio control such as bluetooth button turns radio up . . . The call button say please say a command the hang up button won't hang up the call and changes the station on radio. Very confusing. But the clock spring controls airbag and steering wheel controls . . . . Confirmed by kia that this is intended functions . None works . I feel this item should be a recall issue due to safety requirements of the airbags. If the airbags deploys while driving without an accident or if it does not deploy at the time of an accident could be deadly either way.

Airbag light on dashboard came on and randomly comes on and off. Sometimes when I just start it it will come on and then go off. Called dealership to ask if any recalls about the issue and they said none. Scared that airbag might go off randomly or not work at all. Read that other years have had same issue and they have been recalled. Never been in accident second owner of vehicle. Had vehicle for 3 years now and get it serviced regularly.

I went in to get the car checked at a kia dealership, but was told that they would need to call and see if warranty would cover the parts, if not it'll be over $600 plus $165 for the diagnosis. This is too much for a part of a car I have no control over, and especially too early for a car that is said to be a new model. Our other cars from other makes that were purchased in 2010 and 2012 doesn't even have as much problems as I did with my 2015 kia Forte in the 3 years I've had it. Another problem I have is that the car would occasionally jerk whether on a highway or streets, it doesn't happen often but it has become an everyday thing, where it would lag/hesitate when accelerating. Speed does not matter. When driving over to the dealership the car would jerk, but once the dealership drove the car they said nothing happened and didn't try to check for the problem. I instead was told that they would check if I informed them of this problem after the third visit. Over the years I had to pay out of pocket to get a leak fixed months after my purchase, my paint was coming off and warranty didn't cover it because it was used( still within 6 months after purchase) had to changed the breaks, change the tires, change the headlight and backlights, change the battery, and have noticed the lack of acceleration my car has compared to other cars. I'm to return Monday to the dealership to see if warranty covers the airbag lights, but not feeling that it will.

While driving down the street, heard a rasping noise coming from the steering wheel and then noticed the air bag light came on and stayed on.

If I stay around 20mph or below, it will turn off, but if I increase speed it will turn back on. If I stop, turn, or slow down, the light may turn on or off; it is random. Srs airbag light started luminating intermittently. Disconnected and reconnected cables under passenger side seat and airbag light went off. Within 2 days the airbag light is back on. The car was not involved in a car accident. Took it to the dealership for diagnostics. There apparently was a recall for this issue but it is for 2010-2013 kia Forte. Dealer was not yet able to actually tell me the issue causing the airbag light to remain on. Still a mystery.

So as I'm driving, the airbag indicator light comes on. It's steady one minute and then it will go off and then it will come back on. I have never been in any kind of accident for it to do this. It came out of no where.

When I left one of the stores, the airbag light came on in my car and stay illuminated. It has been on and off (mostly on) intermittedly since then. The light never came on before the recall repair.

My airbag indicator came on so I took my vehicle to taylor kia in toledo. The service department let me know that the computer module has failed and my airbags are non-functioning. They told me that they would fix the error for $875. 00. I didn't do it at the time as I was getting other work done on the vehicle. The rep told me that mine may show up, but I just needed to wait. I want to ensure that I report mine because the issue probably goes beyond the 2012.

Driver side airbag light came on about a month ago at sam's club in fountain valley, CA. I went to 3 kia dealerships and was told I had to pay $150 just to test it. I didnt have the money, but now the light just stays lit. All of these dealerships are here in southern California. I had my brakes repaired on February 21, and the auto shop tried to attach a diagnostics machine to it, but this system is set so that only kia can diagnose it.

The steering wheel clicks really bad. My steering wheel components are no longer working. The airbag light has also come on with these issues.

The airbag light is on after my vehicle was bumped by another car while sitting still in my driveway. My car insurance company says that it was not caused by the accident and kia says that it will not fix it under the warranty since the vehicle was in an accident. It is a safety issue.
