Cruise Control Problems of Kia Motor Forte

Last week my air bag indicator light started coming on. My car has not been involved in any crash for a crash repair to be a factor. I was driving when the light first came on. The light does go off when it wants to. I have tried resetting the car by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, this did not help. I am very scared that the air bags could deploy at any given moment. Today my traction control light illuminated and would only go off if I restarted the car but less than a mile the light came back on. And because this light was on my cruise control would not set.

The cruise control won't hold me on the speed I set the cruise on. If I set it on 55 I look down I'm up to 70 miles.

The seat belts will not automatically roll back into the door frame of the car after taking them off. You have to jerk the belt up and down close to twenty times to get them to retract. Also, I've noticed that the cruise control doesn't function like normal. It only works once in a while. I have to try to set my speed many times if it ever gets it to work. These issues have been going on for months now.

I bought a 2012 kia Forte ex hatchback with 60,000 miles about a month ago. Two instances have occurred which I believe might be related. First time I was traveling @ 65mph around a 50mph curve on cruise control. I hit a bump, and cruise control shut off automatically. No big deal, I just put my foot on the gas and reset the cc after the curve. However, yesterday, I was nearing the beginning of a merge ramp to get on the interstate. I was turning and accelerating when I hit a pothole and the engine shut off. Instead of merging onto the interstate, I coasted @ 5-10 mph until I could reach the side of the road. I put the car in park, turned the key off and then immediately started the car back up. There were no warning lights and the car ran like a top. This is a serious safety problem and I am lucky I didn¿t get rear-ended (this was an on/off ramp, so cars were piling up behind me and honking due to my slow speed). I had the car checked by a mechanic before I bought it and he said that although there was no cel, there was a code in the computer for the ¿yaw¿ sensor (he told me if the car runs ok, he wouldn¿t worry about replacing it). Knowing this, I have turned off the electronic stability control in hopes that the issue is related and will not happen again if the esc is off. Car is in good shape and was well taken care of by previous owner.

After I got my car in 2015, I noticed that sometimes my cruise control would stop working and wouldn't come back on until the car was turned off and back on. The issue has consistently gotten worse and happens more often. Recently, we've had instances where the cruise control stops working and even when pushing the gas pedal, the car will not accelerate. Sometimes even when we aren't using cruise control, this also happens. It has almost caused us to be in accidents. We've almost been t-bone numerous times because we lose acceleration while crossing an intersection.

I was driving through a reduced speed zone of 35 mph and went to set my cruise control, about 3-5 seconds later I felt the car go dead. I lost power steering and all electrical systems. My indicator lights were on and flickering and I had no control over the vehicle other than waining off to the side of the road to get out of the way of traffic. Once my car came to a stop I proceeded to turn off the ignition. I tried starting it and the engine turned a couple of times but went dead so I turned it off. I tried one more time to start the ignition and was only barely able to get the engine to start and maintain. I went off on my way and later on on my way home I stopped to get food and when I got back in my car I tried starting it and it struggled to start. I have only had my car for 1. 5 years and only in the past couple months experienced problems with my cruise control not activating and setting to my current speed.

Esc light stays on, brake lights don't work, and cruise control works sporadically, all fuses are working, a quick google search reflects that the a faulty brake light switch might be the cause, which in fact it was.

Was driving on the car on the turnpike, set the cruise control for 65 mph. Cruise stayed on for a few minutes, shut off automatically and began to decelerate. Attempted to accelerate by depressing the gas pedal. Car did not accelerate, although rmps did increase. Had to pull over to the side of the road, turn the car off and restart. Drove remainder of distance w/o cruise control. Car has had this same issue intermittently. Have had to the dealership twice. Car has been analyzed by the computer with no issue found. Both times they have released the car since they were unable to replicate the issue.
