My traction control light is coming on. It stops the transmission from working while I'm driving down the road at 55 miles an hour an the car stalls. And I have to restart the car. Sometimes the light will go off. Sometimes it wont for a while have to let car sit with the engine off but I have to shut the car down. And then start it back up. This is an accident waiting to happen. Sometimes this happens 7 times a day. And usually it's when I'm on about going 55 or 60 on a beltway was almost hit twice mechanic don't know what wrong no codes.

2018 kia Forte, purchased certified used June 2022, will randomly go into eco or sport mode on startup or while the vehicle is in motion. Vehicle is not equipped with drive mode control buttons, indicating that eco/sport modes are not supposed to be active feature. While I vaguely remember the mode change occurring during previous two years of my ownership, the first noticeable incident in 2024 was of the vehicle going into eco mode (green indicator light) happen upon startup the morning of 5/26/24. This was noticeable due to the fact that the eco mode slow down caused me to nearly be rear-ended by a semi while merging onto the freeway. The vehicle remained stuck in eco mode for several weeks. On the morning of 6/10/24, while driving, vehicle began to sputter/hesitate and eco light blinked on/off then switched to sport (yellow indicator light) mode and vehicle surged forward. Vehicle then switched back to eco mode and it remained in this mode until the morning of 6/13/24, at which point it went into sport mode upon startup. It went back into normal mode (no indicator light) upon startup the evening of 6/13/24. Vehicle was inspective by selling dealership 6/15/24 and they could not duplicate the issue nor pull trouble codes. Remained in normal mode until the evening of 7/15/24, at which point it switched back to eco mode. Dealership has been notified. It should be known that eco mode slows down the vehicle response to conserve fuel, sport mode speeds it up. While these features can be useful when wanted and properly installed with the appropriate controls, the randomness in which these features engage make them a safety hazard, especially considering the control buttons are not installed. Based on NHTSA VIN information the trim package of my vehicle, lx (which kia America has yet to confirm even though I have made multiple inquiries), drive mode is an optional feature which was not activated by the original/first owner.

I have been on the freeway multiple times and tried to brake and I feel a fluttering from the brake pedal. The car won't brake, it feels like I'm sliding. I have to press the brake a few more times for it to actually brake. I had my brakes replaced and that didn't work. I took it to the kia dealer and they said the problem was that I had after market brakes. I had them change them out and that wouldn't work either. They say nothing is wrong with my caliper.

Ignition coil has since went out, resulting in the 2018 kia Forte being brought back to the [same] kia dealership for the [same] repair. Kia dealership has stated the ignition coil that was placed in 2018 kia Forte is not “under warranty”, and full market value price plus diagnostic, and labor is warranted. It appears the mileage of when the original 2020 ignition coil repair was complete, is “coincidentally” the exact mileage the ignition coil went out again (20k miles). Assuming the ignition coil used to remedy said recall back in 2020 is faulty; as ignition coils should last within 80k-110k miles. Thus, should not be the financial burden or responsibility of the consumer.

On approximately, 04/15/2024, 8:00 am, my 2015 kia Forte with less 115,000 miles suddenly shut down going 65 mph! a severe accident was avoided by manhandling the steering wheel to get it to the side of the road. When I called the kia's consumer affair, to report the incident, I was told there was no recall on the motor so they were not labile. I am very frustrated, upset and stressed that kia's doesn't care about it reputation.

The light that marks the low oil of the engine, never turned on and the engine’s time belt was damaged as a result of this, and one of the valves too, and the car just consumed the synthetic oil in just about 7 months, and this is a factory defect because the low oil light inside the car never turned on. And I need that the company replace my engine as a result of this manufacturing defect. My car after that incident has a code p0011.

When the key is in the ignition and the car is running to warm up and I've forgotten something in my home and need to retrieve my item the car has automatically locks all of the doors with the car still running, I only was given one (1) key, so I have to eithe remember to roll down a window or leave a door standing open so I can get back in the car. To me it's a safety issue. What if I had a child in a car seat and this happened.

Auto emergency breaking & forward collision warning: yes it available for inspection ASAP my safety was risk, while driving on the freeway I was staying in my lane driving and all of a sudden it said forward collision: warning when passing a vehicle that was driving in the next lane to the right , then immediately the auto emergency brakes turned on and once it did that I had trouble with steering the vehicle it felt as if it was pulling me to the right lane where the vehicle next to me was driving. Then following moments when stepping on gas peddle it vibrates, puts the other driver at risk if we crashed due to the malfunction.

Check engine light came on, got a code of p0867-trans fluid pressure reading. May need a transmission fluid pressure sensor replacement, or to replace the transmission control module. Lastly, it could be a leak.

The issue I’m having was confirmed by the dealership so when I drive on the highway, there’s a specific patch of highway that zigzags the car will follow that zigzag after getting off of the highway onto regular road. The car computer system will start a down shift erratically and feel like the car is pulling backwards. Also there is a lack of acceleration and it feels like the transmission is slipping, but I have confirmed with the dealership that the transmission was not slipping that the computer was shifting erratically. They would reset the computer and the car would would begin driving in a more normal state shifting correctly. I get on the highway again. The car once again will start shifting erratic. When you let go of the gas, the car downshift so many times that the car almost comes to a complete stop without hitting the brakes. The dealership has the car once again trying to figure out what’s going on with the car and why when I go on the highway the computer starts shifting erratically on that specific patch of highway. The car will pull left and right the entire time once you get off the highway the erratic shifting happens the dealership let me borrow a car which is a 2025 kia sorrento went on the highway with the car and had the same exact issue. The car they let me borrow is also downshifting erratically and feels like the transmission is slipping. The dealership did confirm that the car was not driving as intended, and they were confused as to why it was happening. They’ve also confirmed that the test that they’ve done on the car itself. Had not passed prior to them resetting the computer.

When driving it suddenlyw on't pull a hill. It will slow down to 20-30 mph even on an interstate. Ng I've had it in the shop several time and they can't find anything wrong. It did it again and I took it in and the mechanic told me there was a recall on the computer system but I can't find it. If there's a recall please let me know at marthaking2025@gmail. Com. My car started sounding like a diesel truck. The car didn’t want to changes gears right. It was shutting off randomly. I got on the freeway and it wouldn’t shift out of 3rd gear the way it was suppose to, the car speedometer was reading 60-70 mph but when I switched it to manual it was only in 3rd gear. I almost got rear ended by a diesel truck with a trailer due to it not wanting to shift. I had a mechanic look at it and put it in the code reader. It came up just the cam sensor which were replaced. Went to drive off and it sounded way worse than before. Reput it on the code reader and it said something about the oil pump. Got a second opinion and this mechanic said that it was the bearings in the motor. And now it’s going to be a problem and that’s I’m better off getting a new car.

I have 2 complaints with my kia Forte. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? yes it can be inspected. 1st complaint-the component or system that malfunctioned was the brakes, possibly caused from the entire braking system, the electronic parking brake software and any damaged intermediate shafts. The problem is like the telluride SUV kia. 2nd complaint is an intermittent burning smell mostly in the rear area after I get out of the car to park in the garage for the night. It does not occur all the time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? after I was outside of the parked car on a level road, I saw my car rolling. I had to open the door and jump in to pull the emergency brake on with it moving. I was not able to get my left leg into the car with it moving so my left leg was dragging outside on the rough pavement and ruined my brand new shoes and hurt my left leg and big toe. I was shook up. Ever since, I always pull on my emergency brake when parked. 2nd issue- I am not sure of the safety issue with the burning smell. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no, I did not know what to do. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning and no symptoms prior to the issues. The 1st issue with the brakes occurred this past Dec. 2023 and was then only occurrence. The 2nd issue has occurred several intermittent times in the past 2 years with the burning smell.

My engine shutoff/misfired while I was driving. The rest of my vehicle maintained power, dashboard headlights, radio. I took it to an autoshop where the issue was replicated. When my engine shut off the I had three check lights come on eps, oil, and battery. There was no warning prior to the engine shutting off.

The antitheft software upgrade that kia installed in my vehicle after it was stolen the first time did not work. My car was stolen again with the software upgrade installed. The car was locked and parked in my apartment parking lot and the kia boys smashed the driver side front window, ripped open the column, and were able to turn the ignition and steal my car.

My car was stolen right from my driveway. Kia’s have been targeted for a lack of safety security if back window is broken and they’re able to ride off using a usb port.

There are significant idle issues (rpm’s shoot up & drop down irregularly while in park) and the car shut off while in park following irregular rpm movement, but was not exhibiting this behavior while previously parked elsewhere. I sent it in to be checked but nothing could be reproduced. A few weeks later the car began doing what felt like engine braking (in a manual vehicle) while I was letting the car roll forward in a traffic jam (foot off of pedals for short moment). A friend witnessed a the rpm’s rising and falling dramatically while sitting in the parked car. Later the car began shutting off at low speeds while my foot was on the gas pedal. All of the lights on the dash appeared to be on and the car wouldn’t crank again until the 2nd attempt and only stayed on when pushing the gas pedal. I sent it back again but it could not be reproduced so nothing was done. A few days ago I noticed it was idling weird again(up and down dramatically). Today when pulling into my neighborhood my car began to accelerate on its own. - I pushed the gas lightly to make the turn from a stop and took my foot off of both pedals in a slow transition to the brake. While my foot was up in transition the car accelerated moderately quickly before I immediately pressed the brake my foot was already over. The rpm’s went up drastically (you could hear them). I let go of the brake and the car began to rev high again followed by my braking once more. I turned the car onto my street and pressed the gas as lightly as possible and the car jolted forward before I braked hard out of fear of the children in front of me darting in front of my car as they often do on my residential street. I let the car roll to my driveway (a very short distance) before needing to push the gas again to get into the short driveway. The car jolted again almost hitting the closed garage door. I genuinely feel as though had this happened anywhere outside of my neighborhood my life would have been in danger if not lost.

Vehicle was accidentally left in drive with the engine off. Ignition key was able to be removed from ignition cylinder even though vehicle was in gear and allowed it to roll away several feet.

My vehicle was broken into and there was an attempt to steal the car. I made a police report and they expressed that the car would have been driven recklessly and potentially crashed if it was stolen. The safety issues with kia Fortes have become a huge issue nation wide and the cars should be recalled to have standard security installed that a majority of other cars already have equipped.

While driving my 2023 kia Forte gt my driver side door came unlatched. The door was locked and fully closed when this happened while turning from the 2nd street bridge to e main street in louisville, ky which is a busy road at times. I was going about 10-15mph at about 11:15ish, temp was around 70 degrees f when this happened and the car started to set off the warnings. I don't know what caused this to happen considering the door(s) were locked when I started to drive 15 minutes prior. There was nothing in the door frame or latch that could've made this happen.

This is in regards manufacturer recall number sc284td NHTSA recall number 23v652 this recall is deemed a serious fire risk to my kia Forte koup 2012. There has been no updates on any sign of when the remedy will become available. This is a serious problem for me. I need a remedy part to be supplied and become available so I can fix my car in a timely manner so I can drive my car knowing I will be safe and to those around me.

I have had this car for only a couple of months and all of a sudden every time I excelerate my car wont move and it will either jerk or wont go unless you take your foot off the gas then redo it. Then we find out there was a recall now I am scared to drive my car at all. My car has the tire pressure light flashing, the abs light, the brake light, and traction control light on.

As a loyal customer one of my kia was stolen and the officer said to contact kia so the cars can get the update on anti- theft software and a safety car lock to prevent this from happening again. Spoke with daisy and gave me this # 15808549.

In 2003 I purchased a kia minivan and couldn't promote the company enough. In 2012 I bought a kia sportage and Forte. In 2023 kia issued a recall on all cars having a key start ignition to update them with some software to prevent the cars from being stolen. I called kia corporate after notification and they sent me a club for my Forte as an interim fix until the software could be updated. Later on checking with the dealership I was told not only do they not have the software fix yet that my VIN number was not on the list, kia corporate did not hesitate to provide me with a club which I use until today because kia has failed to provide a fix and even if they did my vehicle seems to be exempt even though it is of the model year affected and a key start. Kia recommendation was to have owners to park their car in the garage. On top of that another recall, interim notice. Dated November 14th, 2023 warns of potential fire hazard from the hydraulic electrical control unit (hecu) even while the vehicle is parked. Kia's recommendation is to parkyour car outdoors and away from other vehicles and structures in the meantime. So now you have it, I have a car which can be stolen easily to be parked in the garage which might catch fire so it is to be parked outside. Please, broadcast this message to people potentially wanting to purchase a kia vehicle. How many other kia owners are in the same boat with me?.

The automatic emergency braking system activated when I was driving with no one in front of me four times in the span of one month. I am waiting to get my vehicle inspected so they can diagnose and fix the camera issue. There were no warnings or other alerts up until the system began to activate. Twice, I was on a pretty clear highway and braked suddenly and without reason.

Approximately July 2023, while my car was still under warranty @ 90k miles through kia, I took it in due to excessive oil burning/leaking, engine "missing". They performed an oil consumption test, which failed the 1st, but "passed" the 2nd phase. I was told to put in oil stabilizer in between oil changes. Car continued to burn oil. Warranty has since expired, and car is still running shabby. I took it in & another consumption test was run, with negative results per kia. I then took it to my mechanic, who performed an oil dye test to see where the problem is. Results were my engine had "blow by", and that I would need to replace engine. I then took it back to kia 2 weeks after 2nd consumption test and was told I in fact do need a new engine, 2 catalytic converters (reason it has been running shabby the past year plus) and a manifold accessory kit. I stated to them that I presented this issue well within the kia warranty guidelines & informed my vehicle was perfectly fine. But was told that now my vehicle is out of warranty so I am solely responsible for all repairs. They stated they requested a goodwill exception through kia but I was denied. I submitted every receipt of repair from other mechanic that was performed since 2020. I simply just want repaired what was failing since my warranty was still in effect. I presented these issues when my car had 90k miles. Vehicle currently has 111,188 miles on it. This has been a devastating, ongoing problem trying to get kia to do what is well within guidelines of the warranty.

The car was stolen.

I have a 2020 kia Forte that had a recall on the security system, yet it is not listed on this or any other sites. I did receive a letter and I did the updated security install with kia community service of bloomington indiana where I purchased it new in 2020. The tic tock challenge that has been going around did not have my VIN number listed nor was any other Forte's but mine was a target on 7/23/2023 as I was parked in front of a home I was at. They were able to get into my locked kia with a screw driver and tore everything out of it looking for a usb cable that I never leave in there and since they couldn't find this used a screwdriver they pried the door open with to destroy my under dash area along with totally destroying the ignition leaving it inoperable and stealing a container of change. I feel the kia Forte was a target in these videos as well yet we were left out of the information on these silly things and were not included in the settlement. I am requesting a steering wheel lock free of charge because of this ! as a consumer we all pay for safety features and this I feel should have been passed on to us sooner. I have my car now in another city and have to go through so much because of something I was unaware of because kia did not have us down for the recall. I have to park outside a lot and for added protection would be so appreciative of the steering wheel lock. This happened to me in indianapolis indiana and they are participating and giving out free steering wheel locks to kia owners but you have to live there and bring your registration. I have contacted our local law enforcement and we are not doing this in bloomington indiana, but they are in indianapolis indiana where my car was broke into. I was told to contact my kia community center in bloomington and they don't have any and they told me to contact kia consumer affairs . This has been a nightmare as seniors we are a fixed income and I have to be in indianapolis very frequently. Please help.

Kia usb hack fix is a software update. They are still working on the fix for only their own remote start. They did not respond back when I told the remote start is from viper. The remote start was added before I was notified of the hack.
