Car will not start up. When turning key I hear clicking noise from under the god from fuse box and thinking it's starter relay but I replaced it and still nothing eventually by keep trying turning key to start for 18 minutes it starts up finally. No clue what it could be. Maybe starter solenoid.
I was driving home from work on the highway, when I noticed my 2012 kia Optima ex making a loud clicking/tapping noise coming from the engine suddenly the car turned off and I was able to pull over to the right lane. When I pulled over the car was off so I turned it on and continued to hear the loud clicking/tapping noise.

6/17/20 I was driving my 2012 kia Optima ex (2. 4l gas direct injection 4-cyl engine) and had just stopped at an intersection for a red light. Once the light turned green, I accelerated to continue driving to my destination. Shortly after leaving the intersection, my vehicle suddenly and without any warning made a clunk sound, the lights on the dash flashed and the engine died. I wasn't sure what happened so I quickly put the car in neutral and coasted until I reached a safe place to pull over and park the vehicle. I tried restarting it but it just made a click sound and would not start. After attempting to start the vehicle a couple more times there was a little smoke that came from under the hood / engine compartment. It kind of smelled like something was burning. I thought it might've been some sort of electrical problem so I called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed to an automotive electric shop for them to take a look at it the next day. They looked at the vehicle this morning and told me that the engine was seized up and that the engine was bone dry of oil. I don't understand how this is even possible when I never received any check engine light, check oil light, no oil leaks on the motor, no oil leaks in my driveway or anything. How does a vehicle that is serviced regularly all of a sudden seize up without any warning what so ever? I have done some research online that indicates kia has issued a recall for certain 2011-2014 kia Optima vehicles. However, when I look up the specific VIN number for my vehicle it says I don't have any current recalls. I purchased this car brand new from a kia dealer and definitely would not have purchased it had I known that the motor would seize up only 8 years later. I expect an engine from kia to last longer than 8 years. I am thankful that I wasn't traveling at a higher rate of speed when this happened. Sad kia customer.
First, I was on in a road trip to arizona from south carolina. Suddenly my car began to make a clicking noise and smelled like oil while driving through a parking lot and lost acceleration while driving through an intersection. Took it to kia and they told me it needed more oil when my light never came on and I still had 1000mi left until my next oil change. So they performed the oil change after getting it towed there and having to then come back for it (4 days after getting it towed there). After that, we tried once again to go to arizona and about half way there going about 73mph on the highway, my car made a loud boom noise, saw lots of smoke coming from the front, and complete loss of acceleration. Husband's step dad checked the oil and it was completely gone. We went to grab more oil and when we poured it through, it went straight to the bottom. After hours of trying to get it on the back of our other truck traveling with us we finally got it to a kia and their service department was closed. Long story short, we rented a better truck for $480 to haul my car back to arizona. I am very frustrated and upset. My car is now at a kia in tempe, az and they told me it's not apart of the engine recall class action lawsuit even though an attorney told me it was.
The engine is burning oil extremely I can get a oil chance and before you know it I'm so few miles my oil stick is on low and the car is making a ticking noise like it's trying to cool off everytime the car is turned off after driving.
Failure date: 06/25/2019 my 2012 kia Optima engine shut off while I was driving and luckily I didnt get into accident and was able pull off the road to wait for a tow truck. This is very scary and dangerous. I had it towed to an auto repair garage they changed out the started and changed out the battery it just made a clicking sound but wouldn't start. I started reading on line that this exact situation has happened to other kia Optima vehicles. My vehicle has 99189 miles so it falls within the power train warranty of 100,000 miles.
Driving on the interstate going about 80mph. The engine seized and all the warning lights came on in the dashboard. Car lost power and had to coast to the shoulder of the road and use the emergency break to stop. Tried to restart the car right after heard clicking noises like the car was trying to turn over. After waiting about 20mins I tried restarting again its started without issue. And I continued to drive to my destination. The next day driving on the interstate again I tried accelerating to about 60mph and the engine stalled and I heard knocking noises coming from it immediately. Pulled over and got it towed from there. Prior to this I never experienced any engine issues and never had the engine lights come on. Car only has 44k miles.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Optima. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 18v363000 (air bags) and 18v907000 (fuel system, gasoline, engine). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received over a year ago. Gervais kia (6 industrial Ave, lowell, MA 01851, (978) 454-1202) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was contacted several times and was unable to confirm when the parts were to become available. While driving 20 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal clicking noise coming from the steering wheel and the engine stalled. The contact had to veer to the shoulder of the road to turn the vehicle off and back on in order for the vehicle to resume normal operation. All the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer who confirmed that parts were unavailable. The dealer updated the engine module software, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 13157669. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was driving on the freeway in the state of utah. I was going 65 mph on the freeway when the car started shaking, followed by a stall on the engine that forced me to slow down and park on the side of the freeway. I have no idea what happened but I heard cracking noise coming from the engine. Now the car won't turn on.

We bought this car brand new in 2012. It is 6 years old. We were notified of an engine related recall in 2017. We took the car in to get the recall (s) looked at (there were 3 other recalls too) in October 2017. They notified us that our engine was fine and did not need replaced. In may 2018 I was driving in a 70 mph area of the interstate, tried to accelerate, heard a loud clicking sound, all of the warning lights come on and the engine turned off. I turned on the hazard lights and was able to coast to the shoulder, luckily the traffic around me was light and two young children were not in the car with me. The car is right outside of the warranty period. I no longer have a vehicle, even though I just bought a brand new car that is only 6 years old. I am extremely disappointed in kia and will never recommend buying a kia.
Engine started making loud clicking noise lost power while driving home on busy highway took car to nearest auto shop owner states sounds like internal engine problem advised to have car towed to kia dealership had car towed on 04/22/2017 to dealership. Have not received any notice of a recall . Car has been sitting at dealership for over a month they called and stated that car had internal engine problems but still have not started on repairing the car has been at dealership for over a month.
I bought my 2012 kia Optima used with 68k miles on it in March 2016. I have had the car for about 8 months and it now has 80k miles. The car consumes a lot of oil. I have given the car 4 oil changes since purcgase and have not seen where it may be leaking oil underneath the car. When accelerating, there are times when they car will stall from a lack of power and I will hear a ticking sound when it stalls. After doing some research, I have found where this is a common complaint with this, and other kia models', motor. This is my only transportation to and from work. I have had the car for 8 months and had to finance the entire cost. If my car's symptoms are synonymous with the other complaints, I suspect my motor will be done with in the near future and I absolutely cannot afford to repair or replace a new motor!.
I was driving home on memorial day weekend from a nice visit with my family and when I was almost home I could hear clicking/tapping sound and the engine stalled on a major interstate. I was able to quickly restart and get to the shoulder. Started up again and took off but when I tried to accelerate to the flow of traffic, the car would not accelerate and was losing power. I was close to a kia dealership and was able to milk it to the service garage. Upon inspection, they found metal shavings paired with a ton of copper on the valve timing solenoid. Crankshaft bearings are shot, causing low oil pressure, stalling and erratic behavior. . Read more...
The first thing would have to be the steering wheel like it has been noted before when you sit still it has a clicking sound. And all driving the highway at 75 miles an hour it sticks and you have to jerk it back witch is no safe I have had it aligned many times but does not fix the problem. My car has 112,113 miles on I take care of replace thing that need to done and oil changes every 3,000 well after I hit the 100,000 mark my car sounds like it has no oil . . Are I have seen on the internet that it sounds like your rpms are really high but there not . . . It starts when I'm going 20 mph another thing that is weird when I'm turning left the noise goes away.
