Takata recall just pulled into my job car was in parked. Car was still running had about 45mins to spare before clocking in. Notice the car begin to smoke as I'm sitting preparing my self for work. No warning signs appeared to notify me that the car was overheating. Turned the engine off to see if car will cool down. Smoke seemed to get heavier. I got out the car and seen there was fire underneath. Immediately I notified emergency officials. Good samaritans helped put out the fire. Emergency officials say it was electrical that caused it.

I was driving from woburn MA on new boston road headed to wilmington MA and my car seemed to shut down I was able to pull over off the street next to a curb location 147 new boston rd. I tried to start my car pressing the push button start only lights came on on the oil has engine battery. . . While still sitting in the car I was trying to make some calls I smelled a burning smell I noticed smoke coming from the front of the car. The smoke increased rapidly I exited the car called 911. While waiting for help to arrive I grabbed some items from the glove box and back seat the front of the car at that point flames were coming from under the hood the flames escalated to pop the hood a large fire had ignighted from the engine area the fire department put out the fire. A tow truck towed the car away.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Optima. When the vehicle was engaged in reverse, it became difficult to steer. My car began to smell like gas when driving and my car started jerking, and making a weird noise. . So I pulled over on the side of the road. It smelled like fuel through my air vents while driving, and when I popped the hood to look under it with my boyfriend there was a leak, and it was spewing out fuel out of the pump. What was the scariest part about it is there was no warning light or any thing that told me there was a fuel leak we had to find out for ourselves. I had called kia to see if they would replace it because it basically was a brand new car with only 60,000 miles on it and they said it was not under original warranty so there was nothing they could do for me. I had to buy the part myself which costed me around 500 dollars, then I had to buy a fuel line which was another 50, then get it replaced which costed me another 200. I was extremely upset because it was basically a brand new car doing this. . And I want to be reimbursed for my troubles. I was out of work, couldn't drive my vehicle, and had to pay for a problem that was not my fault. It was the manufactures fault. I am glad I caught it when I did and pulled over on the side of the road because my car boyfriend and I could have bursted into flames. I am extremely upset. I am never buying another kia again unless they reimburse me for the troubles they have caused me and many others. I am scared to drive my kia now knowing that anything could happen to it, or that my fuel pump may go out another time. The engine is definitely faulty and it has caused me and my boyfriend fear, and anxiety. We are scared to see what may happen next.

Kia Optima 2011 took a turn for the worst on July 2 2018, my kia Optima caused me to plummet into traffic after my brake didn't perform l. That's car had been taken to kia for all survice need and car still perform poorly. Have to restart my car multiple time just for it to act right. Staring out at low speed, moderate acceleration, dry pavement, especially when turning, vehicle will lose power. Traction control kicks on, even with new tires. Leaves vehicle vulnerable to oncoming traffic. Dealer has said this is normal several times. This happens when entering or crossing intersections at normal speed, not over accelerating, attempting to merge on to freeways with short on ramps, or just making a turn at an intersection. This has happened on multiple occasions.

The following happens anytime while driving the electronic control unit and software, sensors, actuators, warning lights, fault codes, and performance related concerns of the electronic stability control system. My passenger window won't go up once you put it down without a fight. I been to the dealer 4 times and it's not fixed.

Back up camera is not working. No accident acurred, started the car, put in reverse and the screen is completely black.

Steering wheel shakes while in motion ( 60-80 mph ). Ride is smooth until tires roll over imperfection in road. Steering wheel and front-end begins to shake violently. Shaking stops when turning right or left and begins again once vehicle has straightened out.

Ever since we got this car it has been in 2 accidents due to the rain, when I started to look into what was causing this problem I noticed there is a hole in the plastic right below the oil filter. This allows water to get on the engine causing it to short power for the car. This in return causes the power steering to cease up making it nearly impossible to control the car, hence why it has been in two accidents; one that put my mother in the hospital a few years back. The last time this happened was yesterday but enough is enough, this flaw is a deadly problem.

The voltage alternator assembly needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle inadvertently drifted to the right and left. The vehicle was then taken back to weseloh kia carlsbad, but no diagnostic codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. On several occasions, while attempting to drive, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

Driving on the interstate it pulls extremely bad almost can't control it , especially if there's any wind blowing . Very hard to drive it for a long time on the interstate.

Today was the 2nd time I was driving my vehicle and the electrical system failed and my car system shut down. I had no ability to steer, brake, smoke started coming out of the vents all the lights started flashing. Hero came to assist, opened the hood smelled melting plastic/rubber. Started sparking, car turned back on its own. Car is not at ed voyles kia in marietta georgia. Kia has replaced my engine twice. Unfortunately I am at 120k miles out of warranty.

"takata recall". My kia has been recalled several times, the motor has been recalled twice. The second time, I had my family with me going to arkansas, and the car stalled as we were going through a stop light, another vehicle almost hit us. My steering has been loose since 65k miles and continued to drift. However this bieng my 4th car I let it slide and was waiting for time to do a wheel alignment. However at 73k miles the eps sensor went off and now is hard to drive. The eps on all my vehicles never had issues up till its death way over 250k miles. The eps sensor came on after a stop sign. Then I heard a snap then the car went into manual steering mode. Now the eps sensor is off and the car is working fine.

While driving long distances the steering wheel tends to "stick" and theb wheel has to be jerked a little to make steering fluid once again. I had the wheels checked to make sure I didn't need an alignment and it is being checked now for the steering issue.

Both esc and auto hold lights occasionally go yellow at the same time. Usually goes back to normal after some period of time. This started maybe couple months ago. Brought to the dealer, but they couldn't detect any error codes.

While I was not notified about a recall, until recently, the dealer advised my information was probably not passed on to the proper authorities from the previous owner. I went to the kia dealer in crystal river and they supposedly put a new brake light switch on my vehicle and when I left the dealership my abs/esc lights were illuminated on the dash and my car started doing all kinds of funny things like vibrating and shuttering under the gas pedal. You know you could feel the shuttering on the gas pedal. At that point I had no brakes and barely stopped. I thought it was only a temporary thing but now its doing it all the time and I can't feel safe driving the car at all. I still owe almost 9000. 00 dollars and can't afford a costly repair from a recall. . I have spoke with some people and they advised that the recall has been causing the ecs to malfunction in many cases and caused the stability of the car and abs to act up.

If there is light wheel spin upon takeoff (especially turning and accelerating, such as pulling out of a parking lot onto a road) it causes car to lose power for a few seconds. When this happens accelerator can be depressed all the way to floor and vehicle does not have power and will not accelerate. Car also activates anti-lock brakes when lightly pressing the brake pedal while driving over a small bump at speeds greater than 25 mph. These symptoms occur with stability control engaged (default setting when car is turned on) stability control / traction control is overly sensitive, and can cause an accident.

I opened a ticket on kia customer affairs (k3229681) once the dealer did not even tested the car with me, and I got the typical answer if they do not have a recall on this subject (it is the way it works) after many calls and visits, I was able to get from the manufacture¿s kia customer affairs verbally confirm it is the way should work, immobilizing the car for 1 to 2 seconds. The only solution provided is to disable the tcs which based on the manual disables also the esp. This issue has been reported by other owners on multiple forums, and no other car I drove works in that way, not even my Hyundai sonata 2013 which is the same car but with different body. The weather strip on the windshield on the driver side just strarted lifting up and coming off as I was driving down the road. I checked the damage and saw the black piece completely off of the windshield. It continued to lift more as I drove. When it rained I believe water is now in the sensors because my odometer only reads "eco" above the actual odometer reading. It became such a hazard while driving I had to tape down the weather strip just to keep it from fully coming off my car and causing further paint damage to the side it smacks against. No mechanic will fix the issue due to being a maufacture error and I would have to replace the entire windshield if I did it myself. I have called kia manufactors in GA only to be placed to voicemail without response. I asked the dealership I bought the car from and they also said to call kia.

I was sitting at a stop sign waiting to cross two lanes, when clear I pressed the gas pedal . The tires spun a little on some antiskid; as a result the traction control interveined. The car seamed to loose all power!!. With traffic on its way I drifted across one lane before getting full power back. This tcs in my 2013 kia Optima is not safe-- someone is going to get killed! what should I do !?.

My car completely turns off while im driving it, most of the time when I used it the first time of the day and try to used it again it turns of and loose power, I can't turn it on again in that moment I need to wait and then it works again but if happens really frecuently and its really dangeros because im on the freeway and cars are behind me and I can cause an accident or anything worse. I went to the dealership so they could inspect my car but they couldn't find anything at that moment.

The esc alarm came on and the car began shuddering. I tried to brake but it seemed to make the shuddering worse. It became difficult to steer so I coasted the vehicle. To the shoulder of the road and waited a few minutes. I turned the ignition again and the car came on first try but the esc alarm was still illuminated and usually is although it turns off from time to time.

The traction control system is designed so poorly that when I pull into traffic from a stop I have to disable the system completely or risk being a sitting duck in the middle of an intersection. It seems that if the traction control system detects any amount of tire slippage it cuts power to both wheels completely. Your instinct is to press the accelerator harder to make the car get out of the intersection which causes the wheels to slip when the car reapplies power and the whole problem starts again and you are still in the intersection. The power is cut so dramatically that it is almost as if the brakes are being applied and vehicle occupants lurch forward. After a second or two the vehicle gradually reapplies power. The only way to avoid this is to disable the system which has to be done each time you start the car. If you forget to disable it you are fumbling on the dash while driving to disable it. When I reproduced the event at the dealership they said that this was how the system is designed to work. All it takes is a couple rocks on the ground, a little rain, or even a heavy fog and the system will completely kill the power for between 1 - 2 seconds when you start off from a stand still.

I have found the traction control to be too drastic at times. When pulling on to a highway there is usually a small bump (difference in height, about 2", between the road and the parking area). If I'm accelerating (which you usually have to do to get onto a busy road), when the car goes over the "small bump" the traction control kicks in and the car loses a lot of the power you need to avoid the oncoming traffic. The traction control causes the car to come to a "rolling stop". This seems a little too extreme to me and I feel like this will cause an accident and potential loss of life. I have owned 4 other cars with traction control (2 saturns, 1 corvette, and a kia forte). None of the vehicles mention had an issue like this. Usually the traction control will "gradually" slow down the wheel or wheels that are turning faster than required. The Optima almost comes to a complete stop, losing 95% of it's power on June 6, 2014 I returned the car to the dealer (fette kia). I was able to reproduce the problem and they said this was how the car was designed. The issue has occurred numerous times the date above was used to complete the form.

Hi my name is james I have 2014 kia Optima lx. I have the car since it had 2 miles and now has 14700. What is ridiculous is the struts make clunking noise over speed bumps. The car changes lane by its self. You can hold the steering wheel center and the car goes to the left. Took it to the dealer and they said it's normal. Lies all lies . Please tell me how my struts have a small leak but not enough to do anything about it I thought it was a new car. It seems like the car was made poorly and rushed. I also feel as if kia is lying about gas mileage again. The steering feels terrible when you are on the highway. They are a sad excuse for a car company and am completely disappointed with them. The refuse to help to acknowledge that there is an issue with the Optima steering I have a family member with a 2013 kia Optima lx with the same steering issue. So tell me how do they have the same steering issue if the 2014 was redesigned. The car seems like it leaks air into the cabin they say other wise. I'm not a happy customer and won't be till they put a recall for mpg. Suspension. Steering and brakes.

February 2013 started experincing electrical issues. Example: rear window brake light stopped working (had to have replaced), then trouble with turn signal light would at times not work. The air conditioner started blowing hot air: added coolant and fr( July 2013) but still isnt working right. Then then cd player had issues where it would not eject cd or fail to read the disk at all. Then the radio stopped working too. June 2014 car wouldnt start had to relpace battery but still wouldnt charge. January 2015 installed new alternator, still didnt fix the issue. Had the charging system inspected February 2015. Turned out to be a short or failure due to electrical issue has to get it fixed. Februrary 2015 electrical repairs (switch, plug, fuse). March 2015 car is making grinding noise when pressing down on the break, it is very hard to bring the car to a full stop and makes a grinding sound when making turns as well.
