Same story over and over 2013 white pearl paint garage kept, no accidents and paint is literally chipping away side of the car door roof absolutely appalling. Kia the fact that kia has thousands of this color on the road is embarrassing for all the loyal customers that have to drive them. Kia knows that all of them were painted with no primer. Cheap paint sprayed on bare metal and has left all of us stranded. This clearly is a company with no integrity or care for customers let alone our lives . This needs class action law suit.

Paint is chipping all over the car hood, trunk side of window, etc. Estimate have bee sent and pictures. Had problem april2021. And had hood painted now it is doing it again.

Paint has begun bubbling and peeling in several areas. Body shops have said it is delamination.

Paint (pearl white) began peeling off in June 2019 on the front t and back of the roof trim. On March 12, 2021 the paint has now started peeling from the passenger left side door. Also, the vehicle has major electrical problems- the power windows ( all but the driver's window) quit operating on January 27, 2021. The vehicle is a 2013 with only 43k miles on it. Unacceptable.

Paint is chipping off of the pillars on both sides of the windshield. Started approximately 1 month ago. First noticed while parked under carport. No accidents or paint work done. This is original manufacturer paint job.

Paint is peeling. It's not caused by any friction. It's DE-laminating.

I bought my 2016 pearl white kia Optima in may of 2016. Recently, I noticed the paint chipping and peeling off my hood. It started out the size of a pea but now is bigger than a quarter and continues to get bigger by the day. I now have another spot that is chipping on the hood due from heavy rain this past week. The paint is also peeling or chipping on the roof right above where the front windshield meets. I expect nicks and chips from debris when hit while driving or parked, but not paint peeling off and chipping while it sits in my driveway with no threat of damage.

The pearl white paint began peeling off in large sheets and is not related to a rock chip.

Car smelled like gas when air was on and even with air off. Fixed March 2019 and I believe I see a recall for it now. We paid a pretty penny to get fixed. My paint on my car is coming off everywhere like bad nail polish. It is peeling off and continues to happen in new parts of the car. I'm trying to get this fixed now with kia. This started happening around windshield first about a year and half ago and then the trunk last fall and now my door and other areas in the last few months.

Ii have paint peeling and falling off at a rapid rate and the car only has 77000 miles it is garage kept and detailed twice a year I feel it need attention from kia as this is not normal they will not cover it and it appears this is an ongoing problem for this year kia.

I have a 2013 kia Optima with pearl white paint. Consistent with widespread reports of rapid paint peeling and delamination of this particular paint color, I too am experiencing the same. Also consistent with widespread reporting, the primary areas are along the pillars around the windshield (long vertical strips peeled down to the primer), and bubbling and peeling on the engine hood, the front grill and the front bumper. This has happened very quickly, and is rapidly worsening. I first noticed the peeling around the windshield on 5/28/20, and the engine hood and bumper on 8/2/20. I have approximately 62,900 miles on the car and it is typically garaged. My understanding is that this will continue to worsen, and that the entire vehicle will need to be repainted. I firmly believe this is a defect, as reported by others, we are all experiencing the same issues in the same manner and locations on the vehicle. This should be recalled and repaired by kia at no cost to me. Thank you.

Poor paint jobs and not car has lots of peeling and chipped paint spots. Seems to be very poor workmanship and now we are stuck with a peeling car.

I own a 2013 kia Optima with the snow-white pearl paint and it is definitely peeling at a rapid rate. It is peeling off on the sides of my trunk, near the windshield, on the hood, and also on the edges of the doors. I bought it used, but have only owned it for 3 years and the paint was in perfect condition when I bought it. I have never done anything to make the paint chip or peel. It looks horrible!! kia needs to fix this immediately. We pay a lot of money for new cars and should expect that they hold up. My parents own cars that are 20+ years old and their paint is still in good shape! kia needs to step up and remedy this!!.

The paint is seriously peeling "delaminating" in "snow white pearl" and that needs to be addressed!! it occurs driving or just washing the car. Searching online I see this is a common issue.

Hello I am not sure if this is the correct place to seek information or file an compliant about what I think is a defect in Kia Motors paint on this models that was painted with white. While driving I seen paint start to fly off my hood of car. My car is kept inside so this should not be happening. I contacted Kia Motors and rep stated they are aware of issue but cant paint all cars with flaking or peeling paint. I asked if their is a known issue or problem with model and year why would you not offer some type of reimburse/ assistance or recall to correct. She stated to hold and came back to say her boss said the company would go broke. After the conversation phone hung up. I have called left message with live person that say they would call back and no one has. In looking for the number to contact Kia Motors. I ran across a forum that other have contacted Kia Motor about same issue. Can/will you help with this. The problem /issue is with Kia Motors white pearl paint on 2011-2016 cars and trucks. �kia pearl white paint recall� I have had my kia Optima for less than 2 years. I am from the south and I drove it up north a few weeks ago and ice and snow got on my car and my paint has started peeling. It's $2,000 to get the hood and the drivers side pannel fixed and all kia told me is their paint warranty ended in 2016. I did not even own the car at that time. This is clearly an issue with the way they painted the car. No 2014 car should be losing paint from driving up north for a few days. I also called kia and they started a �case� they told me to submit a quite. I submitted the next day and a few days later they said they declined my request and their reason was because the paint warranty ended in 2016. All pearl white paint cars need to get their cars completely replanted. If this is not a common case please google the paint issues on this car. They are everywhere. I wish I would have known before buying the car. (3 photos attached).

Before I paid off my car in 12-1-18, my 2013�kia Optima's paint started chipping off. It has chipped off first on the hood and then on the door jams on both front doors. I find this suspicious in that when I bought the car new, they were pushing an extra paint protection program- - for a mear $2000 plus extra! it's as if they knew the paint would fail in less than five years.

Body paint is peeling on hood and rear bumper ; kia dealer said kia only warrants the paint job for only 3 years. I am contending kia knows this and is deceiving its customers from day 1; unacceptable !.

The paint is peeling off of my car while the car is stationary.

Alittle over 2 years ago I started noticing paint peeling off the pillars on the sides of my windshield, it started with a small spot and continued to get worse. I have always gotten my car serviced at a kia dealership and had warranties on my car so I mentioned it numerous times and everytime I was told that paint wasn't covered and that "they had never seen paint peeling like that " on any other snow pearl white kias. The paint continued to peel off, the wind would blow huge pieces off. Now it has started on my hood, the passenger side of my car and the trunk! its already showing signs of rust. The worst part is I brought my car in again and asked what the hell was going on?! the technician assured me they had never seen that, and while I was sitting there 2 other snow white pearl kias pull in and they have paint peeling in the same spots! thats when I decided to do some research and saw that this is happening all over the country mainly to kias with the snow white pearl color. All I want is for kia to repaint my car. I paid alot of money for it and I absolutely love my car but it looks like it is 20 years old with the paint flying off of it and its starting to rust!!! this is my 2nd kia I have purchased and I love them, but I am extremly pissed off and disappointed that I have been fighting for over 2 years about this and nothing has been done. Obviously there was some sort of manufacturing defect when these cars were painted in the factory because there is no other explanation for why there are thousands of snow pearl white kias with the paint peeling off in the same exact spots. I also bought my car new so I know that it has been taken care of the entire time. I just want my car painted before its all rusted especially since I paid $30,000 for the car.

The paint pilling off the car took it to kia they told me they can't do nothing the pain pills so bad this a five year car in it look like 15 year old car cost me 2800 to get the car painted I know that this was a defect on the pait in kia don't want to admit it I think this is something that it needs to be checked kia need to fix this problem.

The paint on my 2013 Optima has bubbles in it that are cracking open with paint peeling away. There is one section on the passenger side front door with one patch that is at least 3" long and 2" wide where the paint flacked off. The paint around the windshield has also flaked off in places that are now causing rust spots. There has been nothing to cause the issue with the paint. The car has the original pearl white paint. This started with minor spots and has gradually increased to more places on the car with paint missing. This has been been an on-going issue the entire time I have owned the car.

Paint chipping!!!! (photos attached) I have encountered many of kia manufactured vehicles with the same issue. The paint bubbles and then peels off, leaving a visible grey (primed) area. I am located in north carolina. The weather is not harsh and I cannot think of any other reason this would be occurring. When attempting to get the paint repaired / vehicle painted, I was informed of a recall and/or class action associated with this situation. I would like clarification and resolution of this matter.

The front frame and many components of my 2001 kia Optima have completely rusted out. It currently has 50,000 miles on it and has had many problems since I purchased it. Check engine light is pretty much on every day. I was told it was something to do with the gas cap, although that never really came up as the reason, there was more than that- resulting in multiple repairs. The O2 sensor has gone twice, the brakes have corroded so badly my repairman had to hit them off to remove them. I had to replace all of the brake lines since they all rusted out. The airbag light goes on and stays on and noone can figure out why. The silver trim on the back window has fallen off. The paint comes off in random places making weird spots of primer show. The transmission has almost caused an accident numerous times because the car would not accelerate from a stop. Speed sensor was replaced twice. The same headlight goes out almost monthly and is almost impossible to put in and find in stores. Door locks will lock and unlock on their own, locking me in or out of the car. The windows have very weak motors that barely roll up or down. This is a car I bought from a dealership and am still making payments on it. I have taken excellent care of it. I have brought it in for regular service and have spent more than the car is worth on repairs while still making car payments and keeping full coverage insurance. I am very upset because the frame has rotted out and I was told to junk the vehicle by bill Dodge kia service and then again by the gentleman doing my state inspection today. Kia states there is no recall currently on my VIN #. I find that difficult to understand. I believe this vehicle should be replaced or all the parts that have corroded should be completely replaced free of charge by Kia Motor CO.

I bought a new 2006 kia Optima ex in Apr 2006. Sept 2006 the key fobs quit working and the pass side back seat does not secure itself in place at the bottom of the seat and stay/taken to a dealership and fixed. July 2007, the key fob again quit working/taken to the dealership and I was told a TSB was out on this problem and they would replace the receiver which was done. Nov 2007 after the TSB supposedly was taken care of, again the key fob quits working/dealership has again reprogrammed to work again and currently they continue to work. This car handles extremely poorly and in my opinion is a safety risk. It seems to have a pretty loose suspension and a lot of swaying when driving. The car pulls hard to the left causing one to have to hold the steering wheel tight to keep it from taking nearly a 45 degree left turn while driving. When applying the brakes, the car pulls both left and right/usually left. When driving over a smooth dip in the road, it feels the front tires actually leave the ground slightly causing the steering wheel to vibrate right/left quickly. This vehicle also handles extremely poorly on icy roads. This is without any question the worst handling vehicle I have ever driven. . . Concerns me as I drive on the highway about 35 miles to work one way daily, and drive in windy as well as snow and icy conditions fairly frequently. At about 15,000 miles, the latch on the gas door doesn't want to stay closed after you fuel up and the electronics that operate the side view mirrors intermittently do not work. Feb 2008, my car reached 30,000 miles and when washing it last week, I noted an area of paint peeling off on the driver's side door trim (black), as well as the chrome paint starting to bubble. I took pictures of both of these areas. Since driving this car off the showroom floor, it has been garaged at both work and home. Last week (Feb 2008), driver's side seatbelt quit retracting.
