2 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2001 Kia Motor RIO

Failure Date: 02/09/2007

Driving in traffic, made right turn into driveway at 30 mph and the engine died, steering was now unassisted. I rolled the car into a parking spot. The car started upon my return to the car. This has happened at least 6 other times since I've owned the vehicle. The car has less than 60, 000 miles and has amassed numerous repair issues: failure of automatic transmission; rear wheel bearing replacement; defective side mirror that screams at high speeds/freeway driving w/windy conditions; sun visors which do not adhere to placement; and windshield washer pump failure. Upon acquiring the vehicle this was the first problem I took the car in for repair. And on subsequent visits, it has been an issue, but the problem persists.

3 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2003 Kia Motor RIO

Failure Date: 01/24/2007

This 2003 kia Rio was purchased used at a dealership a. V. Kia, palmdale, CA, , but soon developed problems with the transmission. Our insurance company replaced the transmission, citing problems which occurred due to our son, which were allegations made by a. V. Kia. Shortly after the car became inoperable and stopped on the freeway quite suddenly. No one was hurt, but our son and his passengers were rather shook up. Fixed one more time, while our son was driving the car when the left front axle fell off. This happened after a. V. Kia repaired the transmission. After being fixed once again with another new transmission, while my husband was driving the car immediately after picking it up from the dealership it once again developed transmission problems. The car stopped at a busy intersection in rosamond, CA. The car was fixed, (sensor problem, and soon taken to a car dealership in lancaster, CA. To be sold on consignment. While the sales representative was taking it out to show and attempt to sell the car again it stopped, this time on very busy sierra highway. The dealer called us to imform us of the problem with the car. A. V. Kia took the car in for repair once again, replacing the transmission!. With all of the transmission problems this car has had we found it extremely dangerous, not only to our family, but potentially to someone else. A. V. Kia continued to just pass the buck without really getting to the root of the problem. We didn't really know where to turn, but we felt that filing a complaint with the dot was a good start. A. V. Kia and kia of America should be held totally responsible for the dangerous junk that they were selling and manufacturing.

Failure Date: 12/30/2003

I purchased my kia 02 in 8/02, I had it less than 5 months and the transmission went out at less than 20,000 miles. A new transmission was installed in 1/03. In 11/03 the first gear in the transmission was gone. My kia needed to be towed to and was again repaired with a new transmission, so I was told. It took two and a half weeks for my car to be repaired. I was not given the paper work from the repair shop then and was told that it would be mailed to me. Few weeks passed and the transmission began to give problems again, this time the shifting of gears were completely off and my over drive did not work at all. I was told to take the car back to the same repair shop of which I did on 1/07/04. I left two messages asking for the status of my car and have not received a call back. As of today I do not have my car.
