I was driving up a hill and it would not go past 20-30 mph, and the rpm will sometimes go up when not accelerating. The transmission does not shift when driving and will sometimes make the car stop and go stop and go continuously. Tried accelerating but the rpm would go up while the mph would not.

The oil light flashed in the car once after an oil change, so I took the car back the very next day to the mechanic and he said there was no oil in the car at the time. He filled the car back up with oil, and by the end of the week, the car needed oil again, but no light indicated the car was low on oil. Months went by with constant oil changes and the car needing oil, so the mechanic told me to take the car to the dealership because he couldn't find a leak. Took the car to the dealership, they couldn't find a leak either. Took the car back to the main mechanic who said the car was consuming too much oil and that a new engine was needed. Spoke to the corporate office for the car company and was told that I needed to get all these tests did before I could be eligible for a new engine. I scheduled the tests, but before I could even make it to the dealership for the tests, the car gave out because there was no oil again and this time the car started burning. I called corporate again and was told that since I'm not the original owner of the car I would be denied for a new engine and that I wouldn't be offered a loaner car. I was told it was best for me to get another car, which is what I did, and now I'm stuck paying for two cars because I couldn't trade this one in because of the engine problem, even though the car is drivable. This car has put me in a lot of safety risks because there have been times when I was on the side of the road in the early morning hours because the car had no oil and was burning. The car wouldn't go over a certain speed limit when the oil was low and/or empty, so I was put at risk as well due to other drivers going the speed limit.

When I started my car, during the warm-up process, it dropped revs and turned off. After several tries, it turned on. While driving, when the vehicle was stopped, it began to jerk slightly. The safety risk is that the car, while I am driving, could turn off and cause an accident, in which people could be at risk, including me. I wouldn't want this to escalate because the dealer doesn't take action on the matter. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to evaluate the condition, they say that the technicians did not find anything, that the car did not emit any codes. And therefore they couldn't do anything. Note that I bought that car completely new, 0 miles, in March of last year. And in January the problem started. It is also worth noting that the car had to have a rack&pinion change in less than a year, due to a noise it made when the guide turned. All maintenance has been done with the official auto grupo kia dealership on kennedy, in puerto rico. I fear my safety and that of others behind the wheel, if the major fault in my car is not fixed.

I believe my kia Rio s falls victim to the recall 2020 kia Rio models have faced. Brake performance has been severely degraded on my vehicle over the past few weeks despite doing all recommended maintenance. When I first got my 2020 kia Rio s I could brake with 5% pressure applied to the brakes, now it takes about 25-30% pressure and it seemingly is increasing every day. I have contacted the manufacturer and they advised me it would be a $2000 service charge minimum.

Ignition getting stuck in acc car can’t go anywhere can’t turn key off steering wheel won’t lock no don’t have money to put in shop arm no hasn’t been inspected no lamps no warning just started doing it has done a few times now.

Engine caught fire , oil consumption, miss firing, knocking brought to dealer they found nothing wrong with it back in December 2022. On 08. 30. 22 while driving on the interstate i75 going approx. 75 mph my vehicle just lost speed and I barely made it to the side of the road. It did not shut off just had no power, this was at 63,000 miles and had to have the catalytic converter replaced. Total cost $1800. Fast forward to 12. 10. 22 same thing happened and was told once again need a new catalytic converter. Also have had all maintenance done and this gdi engine burns approx. 1 quart of oil every 2 weeks. Also make not that the engine light never came on with either event.

I had driven my wife to her school about 5 miles and headed back to my work another 5 miles when I tried to accelerate pass car I lost almost all power barely making it up a slight hill I kept going trying to make it to my house barely going 10 miles an hour. I thought the transmission had let go cause while I had the gas peddle floored I went at best 10-15 miles an hour I eventually parked the car I knew it would never make it up another slight hill. It was rowed to a nearby dealer where they could find no problem telling me it was just some bad gas. This sounds like what I read about today with a couple of other models of kia.

The car has 93000 miles and it started making a knocking noise from the engine. I brought the car to a mechanic and told me the engine needs replace because the connecting rod was broken that there have been recalls for kia's for this problem. I went to the kia dealer for fix under warranty but they declined for lack of maintenance due to my first oil change was to long I did not retain my receipts. Than I researched to find out the government/this sight is investigating Hyundai-kia for this problem , the Rio was not on the original recall the case has been reopened in December to add the Rio so thats why I am here adding my car to the list.

It's very high insurance. . I paid twice the amount of the car in insurance and registration kelly bluebook said car is worth 5000. 00 brand new. . . I paid 6995. 00 plus taxes there's a recall on my vehicle and it has 147,000 miles and I haven't even drove anywhere but from palace station to decatur.

I was driving on public street loss control due to a pot hole in the street the car lost control flipping sliding then flip up right till it came to a stop on apt wall then when it was all over and done the airbag deployed go off on my arm right arm giving me second to third degree burns the purpose of the air bag ? On August 22 2017 8:45 pm while I was driving down a city street my driver side air bag deployed, for no reason causing me to lose control of the vehicle and run over a median in the road. I proceeded to pull into a parking lot to avoid any further incident and inspect any damage to my car. With the car still running, I walked the perimeter of the vehicle to see if there was any damage to the vehicle, with no bodily damage visible I decided to drive it home. The next morning, I went to check on my kia Rio and found transmission fluid all over the ground. I called my insurance and reported what had happened. They said I should contact kia corporation and report the air bag failure I did as requested. Then hurricane harvey hit the area and delayed any actions taken. After about a week kia towed the car to their lot for inspection. Kia asked what I wanted, I replied repair or replace my defective vehicle. They wrote a repair cost estimated at $9200. 00 and said that the air bag was not a recall item and denied my claim after another week passed. I had to file the claim on my insurance at that time and send it to another shop for inspection. Another week passed before my insurance filed it a total loss. After all this lost time from work and rental cost expenses that have yet to be reimbursed. Then having to go find a car that I feel would be trustworthy and dependable after these set of circumstances has proved to be difficult. Refinancing another car insuring it. I don't feel kia corporation held up their responsibility or liability in this situation. After further research on the internet I discovered that kia had many airbag recalls in previous years, and airbag failures in other kia automobiles across multi-year models.

I was driving down a suburban street when my car engine caught on fire. I was able to stop and get out of the car safely. Although I had put the car in park and used the emergency brake, it rolled down the street until it hit a telephone pole, which it set on fire. The fire was primarily on the driver's side of the car. I agued I have driven stick all my life and at 14000 no way. They argued with me for a few minutes. I then told them I'd send in my own specialist because there was no way. Look at it again call me when you have the real issue. One day later they call come get your car! what yesterday it needs $1,200 in damages now it is a miracle it needs nothing? they replied come pick up your car. I need to call my insurance. They replied you reported it to your insurance? I hit a pothole. My insurance went out & found no issue due to the pit hole but later I found out they did see or found out it had mechanical issue. I a had picked up my car. 3 weeks later driving 75 miles per hour in moderate rain fast lane. The smell of wires burning, clutch on floor, no gears, steering like no poer steering hard,tight 7 liight's. In sort they leined my car.

Customer states that the dealership told her that a new engine was put in the car in June 07 but it continues to smoke, overheat and cut off* the consumer was told the head gasket needed to be replaced. The contact owns a 2005 kia Rio. While driving at lows speeds the vehicle began to randomly hesitate. The failure usually occurred when the engine was cold or it has not rained within a few hours. The vehicle began to drive normally when the engine was shut off and restarted. The dealer has made several attempts to diagnose the failure. Two weeks later the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. An authorized mechanic diagnosed the failure on a third visit to the dealer and stated that they were able to repair the vehicle; however, they were unable to say what component was repaired. The failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was estimated to be 9,000 and the current mileage was 39,000.

Since purchasing this car in Nov. 2001, it has given me numerous problems. I have had the struts replaced under warranty for leaking oil, it has stalled more times than I can count, causing concerns about my and my family's safety,and recently the engine cut off without warning while exiting the freeway. The engine is now frozen and since I've reached my 60,000 mile mark, the dealership is hesitant to fix it under warranty. This is truly an expensive lemon.

In June I was having a over heating problem. If I went up a hill the car would heat up to the peg. It needed a new thermostat. The engine blew up & I had to have a new one. Now their is something wrong with the transmission, so kia has sent for a new transmission. I'm afraid to go anywhere for fear that something else will happen to it. I'm alone, therefore I needed something I can rely on.

I have 2016 kia Rio lx and I been have problems with it first it was my widow switch keep rubbing so I took the the dealership and the said it needed oil on it was dryout. Next I have problem with the fuel tank when I pump gas in the tank it keep rejecting and clicking at the pump like it's full of gas and is not. Then something on the dashboard be popping up every now and again and showing the esc control when driving. Now the car to start smoking when I pull off only and I keep having to add oil.
