While attempting to raise the passenger side window slightly, the automatic window mechanism malfunctioned. Instead of stopping when lightly engaged, the window rolled all the way up and trapped my right wrist between the glass and the frame. When I pressed the window down button, the window continued to roll upward, increasing the pressure on my wrist. I was unable to release my hand on my own and had to call for assistance to pry my wrist free. This put my safety at risk by causing a crush injury to my wrist. The vehicle’s anti-pinch safety feature did not activate. The issue has not yet been reproduced or inspected by a dealer or manufacturer. No warning lights, messages, or other indicators were displayed prior to the incident. The component is available for inspection upon request.

I went to the kia dealership in laredo texas and was told that they cannot fix the fault, that my vehicle has had an aftermarket parts, that they are not going to fix the hecu. That they don't fix vehicle with aftermarket parts.

I’ve been hearing this rattle noise mostly when I crank the vehicle. I took it to go get checked out and they heard it when I first brought it in for them to check. But when they got it to the back for mechanic to listen for it, of course it didn’t do it. They kept my car a whole day to try n find the issue/hear the noise and was unsuccessful. I’ve been told that it could possibly have something to do with the car timing or something with the engine. My car only has 34000 miles on it and it’s making this noise. They won’t approve me to trade it in or anything to help fix the problem or get me in something better.

Paint peeling. Took a month to have the dealer /warranty repair the roof in July 2025. Then in sept 2025 have 2 more areas doing the same thing. Reached back out to dealer end of sept then mid oct following up find out service person is gone, start over with new service person, follow up early Nov, again mid Nov and find out that service person is gone. Contact manager and he wants us to start over again with him. Need to send car out for quotes to give to warranty even though this has already been repaired once and we were told this is a known issue. Now trying to go through a kia dealer that has a body shop on site to try and get warranty approval and repair done before vehicle hits 36k even though this should be covered regardless (and purchased extended warranty but also not covered).

I was driving when my kia stalled and shut off but was still playing music and driving. So I pulled over and then my kia caught on fire and went up in flames.

My car is consuming a lot of oil and I have to add it on a weekly basis. The catalytic converter has already been replace once and is on the verge of having to be replaced again because of this issue. I just bought the vehicle last year. I see that there was a previous campaign with this same issue. See campaign NHTSA 23v-652000. I am wondering why my vehicle was not part of it. Please advise next steps to remedy this safety issue on the 2018 kia Rio models.

I went into a rural king store to shop when I came back out my car was completely filled with smoke. I opened the front passengerdoor and the smoke hit me in the face it was so thick and green it was just it took my breath. It took me 10 minutes to locate what had happened and down on the door frame of the passenger side of the front seat where the wiring is there was a whole melted all the way through that panel and you could see the wiring was exposed so I assume that the wiring had caught on fire. I'm not sure about this it has been looked at and it is at jeff wilder Toyota in clarksville indiana. They want me to pay $1,000 deductible for this but I feel like if it was a wiring issue key is should be responsible. I am going through a flood right now in my home and now I have to deal with that and I don't think I'm even responsible for the payment I think he is at the cover it.

Back up camera sometimes flips sides, so that obstacles on the right side of the car are shown on the left side of the camera screen. Sometimes the camera doesn't work at all.

Driving to work I exited us-26 in hillsboro, oregon at the 185th exit. The exit is an uphill ramp with a traffic signal at the top of the hill. The traffic signal at the end of the ramp was green. I was following a Tesla model y and I saw the brake lights activate. I applied my brakes causing my car to slow down and then I had to proceed through a yellow light because I did not think I could stop safely without ending in the intersection. At the next traffic signal, I rolled down my window and yelled to the other driver to not apply their brakes when they are proceeding uphill through a green light. The other driver told me it is "regenerative braking. " unnecessary braking causes disruptions in the flow of traffic. It does not make sense that brake lights would activate if the driver is not applying the brakes.

This vehicle is burning oil at an alarming rate: at least 1 quart per tank of gas, approximately 340 miles. No oil light comes on in the dash, even if the engine gets ran to dry. Kia accepts this and claims the vehicle is fine. Even with extended warranty coverage, I’m on month 8 now of trying to get this car fixed with kia shops and now the catalytic converter is failing. Finally the car has displayed its first check engine code.

I was parked in ghe parking lot and went into the store and came back to my car and starting then it was not getting started I tried many times even though it was like battery dead and I call my insurance company and asked for roadside assistance amd they tried using jump start evne though it was not starting so with the help of other sources I tried to rotate crankshaft manually it was stucked and not rotating so I thought it was engine sezied.

I bought this car used a little less than a week ago. There was a thumping noise under the hood so I took the car to the dealer twice for this issue. I looked under the hood tonight and found a bunch of pieces that are not bolted down and the battery is completely unsecured and can move around freely. It’s horribly unsafe because the battery being loose can affect the entire car and the parts that aren’t bolted in place are causing major issues with the ac and other systems.

My 2013 kia Rio began dying while I was driving it in mid January 2024. Approximately three weeks after this began occurring, my oil pressure sensor light started flickering when I would turn the corner. As soon as I got home, I checked the oil and it was empty. I had not previously experienced this and always kept up with the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. The incidences of my car dying while driving have increased while I waited to get into the dealership to have it checked (it was a one week wait and there were no earlier appointments available. I took my car to suntrup kia south. Service advisor brian richter texted me to ask if he could call me. During our phone conversation, he stated that this is a known issue with kia vehicles excessively burning oil, which then causes the catalytic converter to clog and the engine to die. It is a fatal flaw and there is no fix other than to replace the engine, which I would have to pay for. He said kia extended certain warranties, but mine was not one of them. The last time I drove my car before taking it to the dealership, I barely missed getting hit when my car stopped while turning a corner and there was a car behind me. I found information indicating that a class action lawsuit had previously been filed, but was dropped by the class with no details given as to the reason. I now have to buy a car because it will cost more to replace the engine than the car is worth. It only has 107,000 miles on it. I would appreciate any help or advice that you can offer. Thank you.

Vehicle started shaking, engine light flashed and now vehicle is not drivable due to unresolved recall.

Driver door lock has stopped responding to the key fob and the door no longer unlocks with the key. The key works, but only unlocks the other doors, even when used on the driver side. The driver side lock also does not respond to the inside buttons for unlocking the door. All three other doors work, but not the driver side. Dealer was unable to fix.

A recall notice (NHTSA recall # 23v652) was issued on 14nov23 where the hecu may experience an electrical short circuit, which in turn can result in a car fire. To this date, the remedy part is not available. If I'm not mistaken, car fires can be a serious issue, therefore, I am reporting the delay in availability of this part. I also want to inform you that the telephone number referenced on this website and the recall notice to file a complaint (888-327-4236) is invalid and that this website and number should be updated with the correct phone number.

Hi yoon my kia Rio 2023 s VIN number is 3kpa24ad4pe603946. Bought a couple months back new at summit place kia auburn hills michigan. Once I drive off I realised the steering wheel alignment is off. The car does not drive straight when steering wheel is straight. I called my salesman and he asked me to bring it in for servicing at summit place. They did a wheel alignment there and found misalignment at factory condition. A few months later the same issue got worse and was noticeable again when driving. I called my salesman and he told me bringing it into service will incur a service charge as this issue is not under warranty. However, I believe this constant misalignment is from a manufacturing defect causing safety issue and you could access the servicing records that said the wheel alignment was already off at the first emergency servicing. I have also made sure all my tire pressures are topped up to the recommended pressures kindly advise and rectify this road safety issue.

Placed car in park got out to open a gate. Car took off forward even when shifter was in park position and almost ran a child over.

My trunk latch wasn't working. I couldn't close my trunk. I contact kia service and since I still have a platinum warranty with them, asked them if they could repair it free of charge. They said no. So I had to use tape to keep the trunk shut which kept getting wet from the rain while I had to wait for my kia truck latch part to arrive through mail so my husband could install it. I am not sure if this was right before they knew of the issue or not, but I feel like I deserve a refund for the part.

My car acted like it had a dead battery. This happened once before and after about 10 minutes when I tried starting it it started with no problems. This happened a couple of months the ago. This time, as I was sitting in the car the seat belt light came on but I couldn't wait for the issue to resolve.

I was driving normally and suddenly the transmission would not shift at all. The engine would just rev freely and the car did not accelerate at all. I was able to creep slowly to the dealership as I was near it. The dealership confirmed that the transmission had a problem a day after it was in the dealership.

Only symptom was a burning smell/smoke within a couple minutes before visible flames.

I took my kia Rio to mechanic for knocking noise in engine. Mechanic said it's not the original engine and has been replaced. Nuts and bolts are rusted and some aren't even tightened or torqued correctly. I am the second owner of this car and could have been in an accident. This is very scary. There was no information about a different engine or anything else warning me about kia or Hyundai cars. Please let others know that their safety is at stake buying these vehicles.

Seatbelts in rear are inoperable/anti theft not working. Kia dealership told me that its not their issue about the anti theft. I have been told on 3 separate occasions that my seatbelts have been ordered but they haven’t!!!! no one is following up with me, when I call I get told “until they can get in contact with the dealership kia the corporate company cannot do anything” have 2 kids kia the dealership as well as the corporate company knows about this and no one is doing anything!! no one cares.

While driving at 71 mph with cruise control and the doors locked, the drivers seat door unlocked and opened. The open door warning light came on on the dashboard. It is available for inspection. It has not been inspected yet at this time. My safety was put in danger as I had to close the door as wind was entering the vehicle. It has only happened once about two weeks ago.

At speeds over 20 miles per hours there is a “flapping” noise that sounds like a bag or piece of paper that is blowing in the wind. Although I don’t know were the noise originates, I can hear it clearly from the driver’s side b-pillar. It is incredibly annoying and greatly diminishes what is otherwise a solid entry, level vehicle.

Engine caught fire , oil consumption, miss firing, knocking brought to dealer they found nothing wrong with it back in December 2022. Car stopped working on March 11,2023 had fire underneath police had vehicle towed to the house. Insurance company will be here Monday. Will also be contacting kia dealer in alliance ohio on Monday. The engine light was on and checked missing firing cylinder one.

A deer ran out in front of me. I hit it head on. My hood unlatched and flew up and the hinges cut into the very top of the fenders. I don’t think a hood is supposed to pop open like this.
