The contact owns a 2009 kia Rio. While she was making a left turn at a stop sign the tie rod and ball joints broke off of the vehicle. She stated that the vehicle turned in the opposite direction when the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be repaired but they stated that they needed to contact the manufacturer. A representative from the kia manufacturer inspected the failure and stated she must have crashed into something. The manufacturer refused to repair the vehicle. She will contact the insurance company. The failure and current mileages were 46,400.

2 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2008 Kia Motor RIO

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

The contact owns a 2008 kia Rio. When putting the vehicle into gear, the vehicle would not accelerate. Suddenly, the vehicle would abnormally accelerate without driver intent. The vehicle was inspected on 3 separate occasions but could not be duplicated. The dealer attempted to remedy the failure on 2 occasions at no expense to the owner, but to no avail. The failure progressively became worse. Also, while traveling at speeds of 5mph and up, the vehicle would exhibit a whining sound. The dealer advised the lower ball joints would need to be replaced. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 50 and the current mileage was 21632. The VIN was not available at the time of the complaint.

3 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2001 Kia Motor RIO

Failure Date: 06/09/2001

While trying to get out of a parking space steering wheel made a very loud grinding noise when ever turning steering wheel real hard. Took to dealer. Dealer replaced ball joint and hub. Next morning while driving on highway, steering came loose. Ball joint and hub disintegrated. Tape player inoperatve. Vehicle runs rough in mornings. Trunk hard to unlock, dealer replaced trunk lock. Right rear door lock stuck. Rattle was present due to dash rubbing against carrier frame, dealer added insulation, noise ceased.
