Gas smell in car 11/2017 while in motion. Experiencing a sort of hesitation, like wanting to stall. Brought to dealer. Dealer identified issue- crack in fuel rail, leaking on engine. Item was not covered under warranty and quoted at just under $1k to repair. The dealership wanted me to sign a waiver saying I knew my car was a fire hazard since I couldn't afford to pay their rates for the repair. Told me I would end up in the news if I didn't get it fixed there. I refused, and took my car to my local repair shop where I paid for the repair.

Crack in the fuel rail. Profuse leaking of gasoline above the engine when the car is on. Immediate danger of catching fire making it dangerous to drive. Mechanic dumbfounded that the rail pipe is made of plastic and not metal.

While driving at interstate speeds the accelerator stops working. There is a mild popping sensation and the gas pedal no longer has any effect. The car continues to run, but slows down naturally and will eventually slow to about 10mph. If you turn the vehicle off and restart it, it runs normally until the next time it randomly does this at 70mph. I have only had it happen on the interstate while going about 70mph. It is not like going into neutral. . . The engine does not respond to the gas pedal at all. . . Not revving. . . Nothing. It can go days without doing this and then do it 4 times in one trip on the highway.

While pulling into my driveway going between 5-10 mph I applied the brake and the vehicle lunged forward into my garage door which was closed and damaged another car parked in the garage. If the other car was not there to stop it I may have been killed. I reported this to kia and the investigation only showed a blown fuse when they connected it to the tester. There are two other accidents that I know of with similar circumstances, please check into this before someone is killed or loses money due to something that was not their fault. By the way I was turning right into my driveway and my husband was backing out in his car when this took place and he saw the whole thing.
City driving down a busy road at 45 miles an hour and the car speed began dropping, check engine light came on, and gas pedal would go all the way to the floor but not give gas to the engine. Pulled car into a nearby parking lot. After sitting for about 15 minutes, my mechanic showed up. He started the car and the gas pedal worked. We drove it to my home. Now I am afraid to drive it, it could happen again, and cost for fuel system repair is huge for me!.

The contact owns a 2006 kia Sedona. The contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. After two hours of operating the vehicle, an abnormal fuel odor was present. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician stated that the vehicle's inserts were fractured and the control arm needed to be replaced. The cabin filter was replaced, but the fuel odor was still present. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v387000 (suspension); however, the dealer refused to perform the repair due to the vehicle not being in one of the states affected by the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while the car was parked he notice the vehicle leaked almost a quart of oil that day. The oil warning light illuminated. The failure occurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure 65,000. Pp.
While driving on the interstate with cruise control activated the vehcile experianced an uncommanded deceleration with no response to pressing the gas pedal. With no left hand medium to pull over to, this left only the right medium as an alternative. Navigating to the right without acceleration made this extreamly dangerous in miami traffic. Once on the medium the vehicle was turned off and restarted, reactivating the system. Dealer indicates the throttle position sensor is intermittanly defective causing the throttle to default to idle mode and deactivating throttle commands. I am of the opinion this is an unsafe condition and the throttle should default to a manual input if the sensor becomes discrepant.
Driving approx 35 mph when kia van lost power and had to coast to side of road. No forward movement with gas pedal pressed down. Sat for 10 minutes and was able to drive at normal speed for about 30 minutes when I slowed down to turn corner, lost power again. Coasted to side of road, sat for another 10/15 minutes then drove to auto mechanic. Replaced throttle position sensor for 2nd time. Vehicle computer also reset. Serious safety risk as vehicle loses power in middle of traffic without warning and very limited time to make decision where to coast to as you do not have any driving control.
Van does not stay started. Sensor control and short on seats.

Over the past year, I have replaced struts, bushings, cv boots, & countless other items on suspension. I have had Sedona looked @ by multiple mechanics. Have driven around w/ me on both occasions. Had three ase certified guys at one time checking everywhere for lose or broken parts. We even checked spare tire & the pressure in it. When I go over any uneven surface, something rattles or clunks under the van. Not a little, a lot! everyone can actually feel it, not just hear it. Cannot pin point location. It seems mostly around spare tire area, but I feel it under driver & passenger area too. Middle & back can feel & hear it. You cannot make it happen over things like speed bumps. Just uneven surfaces. Random. . So embarrassing & making me crazy! I also have had on 5 or 6 occasions when driving, I will take foot off gas as cars slow or exiting up a hwy ramp. When I push to excel, it wont catch but the engine rpms go crazy & engine races. I have to try to let off & reapply foot to gas to get it to grab. I almost got rearended twice! it happens fast, suddenly & far in between. Scares me to death. It is like the transmission is slipping, but had at dealership long ago for this & just like the other stuff, if they cannot make it happen. . . Sorry, out of luck! I now am just under the 100k mark & still cannot get resolve. Cannot sell a clunking car!.
Multiple instances where vehicle has been unable to start. Will subsequently turn over for a period of about 5 seconds and finally "catches" and will run rough. Upon driving the vehicle will run rough, hesitate and stall, mostly at times during a full stop attempting to accelerate to normal driving speed in traffic and through turning. Upon inspection at dealership, no faulty parts found and condition "disappears". Upon receipt of vehicle from dealership, problem has continued to plague vehicle. Replaced many parts under the advisement of the dealership and have never found a solution to the problem. No check engine code present during problem. Has left family stranded on more than a few occasions making vehicle unreliable and unsafe to operate.
This happened twice. As I attempted to pull out of a parking space, my car would only go 5mph. I had no gas feed. It was diagnosed as the throttle body and was fixed under warranty the first time. I was told by the dealer at the time that this was a problem for my vehicle. In fact, he was helping another owner with the very same problem when I came in. The second time was Dec 2013. The same thing happened. This time it was out of warranty (87,000 m) and I had it cleaned at my expense. It has worked since then. I am now at 97,000m. I am expecting it will happen again someday.
I bought a 2003 Sedona used in 2007 with about 50000 miles and have nothing but problems ever since. 1st in 7/08 I went to a local shop (not kia) because my engine seemed very loud. The mechanic told me I needed new motor mounts n that it was kind of unusual for a car to need them so soon. I did call kia n ask them about this and was basically told to bad for you. So I had them fixed ($556. 36). Not even a few weeks later my ac was blowing hot. Same mechanic told me my ac was out n that one of the hoses needed replaced. Had to wait a few years but had it replaced ($1050. 72). Had my 1st brake job done in 2008 ever since I've had to have my brakes replace 2-3 yearly plus had to have new calipers. No one can tell me way the breakpads wear out so quickly. I dont drive a unusual amount. I've had to replace 2 interior door handle and now have a broken exterior handle. My air bag light stays on while I drive which scares me reading others airbag stories. When I try to fill my car with gas the pump will click off after a dollar or 2 like its full but its not. And just a week or so ago I was ob the highway with the cruuse control on all of a sudden I smelt this overpowering smell of gas. I pulled over and checked but didnt see anything wrong. Continued driving again smelled gas tried turning off the ac didnt help. Tried turning off the cruise control the smell instantly stopped. I hope that something can b done to help me and the others with kias. I have some of my repair paperwork. If you have questions for me please call me.

When refueling the vehicle, the gas almost always spurts out of the gas cap opening. This happens whether I let the nozzle on auto fill or if I manually hold the gas nozzle. It happens if the gas flow is slow or fast. I have met others with the same type vehicle with the same problem, but no one has bothered to report it. The gas has spurted out on my hand, my gloves, my clothes, and my shoes. I have learned to stand slightly back and it then spills over the side of my car and onto the ground. I have several pictures.
