3 Wiper problem of the 2008 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 04/05/2020

Getting on freeway I just left the entrance ramp increasing my speed im at around 45 50 mph. All of sudden with no warning whatsoever the hood just flies up and crushes my windshield. I slam on my brakes trying to see around the hood and coasted over to the brim of the road making sure I was safely off the road. I get out of the car and try to pull the hood back down . I tried with great difficulty to get the hood back down and secured. And proceeded to get off the freeway and head back home. Please note I have only owned this vehicle a couple of months prior to this and was not aware of any safety issues.

4 Wiper problem of the 2017 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/26/2020

The rear view camera setting engages whenever the car is put into reverse. The driver comes to rely on the backup camera. Several times the backup camera fails to turn on and can not be manually turned on. I feel that there is a correlation between turning the car on and putting it into reverse quickly however I can not reproduce this at will. This has happened 10+ times. I have also noticed on some but not all occasions that after reversing, when I put the car in drive, suddenly the backup camera does engage although I'm now driving forward. I'm concerned that people who have been accustomed to using the backup camera will get in a crash or run into a person when the backup camera intermittently fails.

5 Wiper problem of the 2017 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/26/2020

Images on the backup camera is intermittently very difficult to see. This is easy to reproduce when backing out of a covered garage into sunlight. While the entire car is in the shade the image is clear, however as soon as the camera on the back of the car hits the sun, the image becomes very difficult to see. It is "blown out" and very white. As soon as the front of the car where the light sensor is hits the sunlight the backup image adjusts and is clear and effective. The system needs a light sensor where the camera is located in order to adjust the light settings to match the camera's environment. This is dangerous in that the camera is initially working and then suddenly becomes unusable while the driver may be relying on it. This could result in a crash or injury as the driver backs up while relying on the backup camera system. This is fairly easy to reproduce consistently.

6 Wiper problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/09/2019

On the morning of the incident I drove to work (approx 25 miles) at speeds in excess of 60 mph with no incident. After parking I entered my workplace. During lunch I got in the vehice and began to travel to a nearby reastaurant. I was driving at approximately 45 mph when the vheicle's hood became unlatched and opened. The hood opened with such force that the hood lift strut supports broke, allowing the hood to open, over extend, obstruct my vision, and strike the windshield. Upon striking the windshield the glass shattered. I slowly pulled to a nearby parking lot, took a picture with my phone, and closed the hood. I later called kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and reported the incident. I was given a case number of 13015302. I was advised to proceed to an authorized kia dealearship and be seen for NHTSA recall number 16v-389. If the latch was faulty, I was told that kia would cover the costs of repairs. When the dealership was called, I was assured that there were not recalls on my vehicle, when to the contrary, I was sent a recall document sc134 from kia case worker, billy wells. I was finally able to schedule an appointment. I dropped the vehicle off for the appointment. After approximately 4 hrs the local kia dealership serviced the vehicle and produced paper work stating that there was no problem with the equipment.

7 Wiper problem of the 2018 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 11/15/2018

We only had our vehicle 5 months and my husband was sitting in traffic during a snowstorm and the wipers stopped working. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they told us it's not a manufacturer's defect so we would have to pay $507 out of pocket to replace the wiper motor. They claim that happened from someone moving heavy snow off the windshield without clearing off the windshield first. My husband has an ice scraper and he told me he used it, not to mention, he kept the heat on the window the entire time. I think it's ridiculous for them to have us to believe that on the first snowstorm of the year, the wiper teeth got ruined from snow, what's the purpose of the wipers? it has been almost a week since we left the dealer and they had no conscious about us driving out of there with no wipers. We cannot afford $507 so our freedom to drive our brand new car whenever we want is limited until we figure out what we can do.

9 Wiper problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

Issue 1. Vehicle appears to have a broken lock mechanism or bad sensor on the automated rear drivers door. When shut and in drive, driving down the road at 55 mph, door has flown open twice. I have 2 children that sit in these seats and I will not place them in the vehicle again until this safety issue is resolved. Issue 2 - front windshield rear view mirror has intermittently went in and out of night mode during daytime driving. This is a safety issue and cars are barely visible with the green tinted nighttime mode on. Additionally, rain makes this condition worse.

10 Wiper problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 09/03/2016

Side view mirrors will go down in backup position while driving resulting in a loss of vision on cars beside and behind you. Tried replacing with aftermarket mirrors and the same happens. This is third time this vehicle has had the same problem. Issue occurs anytime vehicle is started. You can set the mirrors, turn off the settings adjuster and at a random time they will go all the way down.

11 Wiper problem of the 2007 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 08/10/2016

While our front windshield was being replaced due to damage from road debris, the technician informed us and showed us how the window was separating from the car. The adhesive was completely separated from the window pane. The defect was noted in the upper left and right sides of the window. The technician informed us that in the event of a collision, the window would have dislodged from the vehicle.

12 Wiper problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

Since the lease from nemet kia started in June 2016 the exterior of windshield has had a film that smears the window and obstructs driver view in the rain. When dry the window is clear but in the rain the film becomes an issue. There wasn¿t much rain during the summer so I dealt with it hoping it would wear off through regular use of the wipers. I have also cleaned the glass numerous times with negative results. When the car came in for the first service in sept. 2016 the tech tried to remove the film but they could not address it properly (noted on work receipt) and the film is still there. During the heavy rains of the last few days the car is very difficult to drive due to the smeared windshield. The problem gets worse when driving at night in the rain. Kia dealer kept car from October 11-14 2016 and attempted to clean window and verified the problem required replacement of windshield. As of November 21, 2016 the windshield has yet to be replaced. Kia and dealer keep pushing back replacement date and the car is unsafe to drive. Kia has been contacted and they assigned the issue case #k3296615.

14 Wiper problem of the 2007 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 11/23/2014

I was driving down a country highway at 55mph in pouring rain at about 7:00pm, dark. The windshield wipers were on constantly however not on the highest setting. I went around a curve and the wipers just stopped. No warning, no noise, nothing, just stopped. Luckily no one was around me and I could get to the side of the road. My husband looked at it when we got it home and it appears that the linkage has sheared off.

16 Wiper problem of the 2008 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 02/20/2014

I had the wind shield wiper heater on to help DE-ice the wind shield. Approximately 10 minutes into travel I smelled an electrical burning smell. I pulled over into a gas station and started to inspect the car, opened the hood and looked around and the instrument panels, fuses etc. I didn't find anything. I got back into the car and I heard what sounded like glass cracking and heard a popping noise. There was smoke coming from the lower wind shield. I got back out and looked and it appeared that the wiper heater malfunctioned in the wind shield and popped a hole in the wind shield. There was scorching around the hole that was blown in the wind shield and the windshield continued to crack up through the drivers line of vision and also all the way across to the passenger side of the window. I called kia and asked about warranty but they said they would not cover it even though they have heard of it happening before, I did find out that another model of this same make was recalled for this same thing happening.

17 Wiper problem of the 2008 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 01/31/2012

The contact owns a 2008 kia Sedona. While traveling 30 mph, the contact activated the windshield wipers and ruining for 15-30 seconds, the windshield wipers suddenly stopped functioning without warning. 18 Wiper problem of the 2008 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

It started with the fuses for the power plug in the front blew several times and had to be replaced. About 2 months after that the turn signal bulb kept going out on the passenger side, we thought at first that the bulb kept blowing out. This kept happening every couple of months until about 10 months ago now every couple of weeks the bulb blows again and we have to keep buying bulbs and paying to have them replaced. One of the people who inspected our car this month was going to relace another bulb but he told us that as soon as he touched the bulb it started working again. That there must be a short of some kind but he passed the inspection since the bulb worked now. After that we kept noticing that every time we went out and it started to get dark we didn't have our headlights on, we didn't think anything about it the first time because it was right after the inspection and assumed the inspector had turned them off. But it has kept happening it has now happened at least 5 different times and I know I didn't cut them off and I am the only one driving the car. I have also in the last 6 months had the motor to the fluid dispenser for the windshield wipers stop working it worked one day and the next I pushed the button to clean the winshield and nothing happened. I have seen dozens of complaints online about people having the same problems and worse with thier kia Sedonas kia needs to fix all of these problems or replace the cars.

19 Wiper problem of the 2007 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 12/04/2008

The front windshield wiper linkage easily comes loose, causing loss of functionality for the front wipers. The cause is the nut connecting the linkage to the motor coming loose and popping off, disengaging the linkage from the motor. This has happened to the same vehicle twice: the first time (early 2008), we took the vehicle to the dealer, who repaired the linkage but refused to cover it under the vehicle's bumper-to-bumper warranty, saying it was caused by running the wipers when they were stuck in ice. The second time (December 4, 2008), we fixed the problem ourselves after the dealer informed us that they would not be able to see the vehicle until the following Monday. I feel that this is a significant safety issue. We were fortunate that both incidents occurred when the vehicle was parked, but the problem could easily occur while the vehicle is in motion, causing loss of visibility. After the first occurrence, the driver was careful to clear ice from the wipers before running them. Nevertheless, the problem recurred. Kia recalled other vehicles for a similar problem back in 1999.
