I bought my kia new. Since then, I have had 4 complete brake jobs done. Dealer says it's "normal" wear and tear, said they replaced my rotors on several occasions, yet the last time (6/01), they said my warranty ran out, and I have to pay to have inspected from them. When told of previous prob's with these brakes, they claim that kia brake pads were bad, thus changing to the new version. Those failed also. They would not do job without me paying, so I had another private mechanic do the job. I had to have, the rear brake shoes, and left rear drum. This is after having my brakes done 3 x by the dealer. These cars give no warning at all, then wham, I have no brakes. I want a replacement car equivilant to mine but one that doesn't make me crazy wondering if my life as well as others are in danger due to crappy brakes kia made! this is crazy. . The dealer are all nice and stuff until my warrantee runs out, then I'm stuck. I'll have to work overtime in oder to keep having rotors replaced if this keeps up! the dealer said that "normal wear" for rotors is below 10k???? my last car had one brake job done, and traded it for the kia at 155k, with brakes!!! why isn't anyone doing anything about these brakes on these cars? tons of people have had problems (see consumer complaint listings), yet kia says their cars are great? also, I have had multiple prob's with trunk not opening with key, door handles falling off, water retention in headlamp (replaced), dorm light not working (fixed), car doesn't always start (dealer can't find problem), constantly unalligned causing wear on tires, side view mirrors don't always work (manual/no problem found), car doesn't always start (no problem found), front seats don't always stay in the upward position (no prob upon arrival at dealer). I think these are all of the problems. . . I have figured out that buying a new car isn't worth it. I would never recommend a kia to anyone! I can't even sell my car. . . Nobody wants it!.
I hope they will investigate brake problems with these vehicles, this is my second kia not by choice (2nd time) and all the problems are the same.
Within 35,000 miles, my 1998 kia Sephia LS has had the front brakes replaced twice (rotors, calipers and pads the first time, rotors and pads the second time). According to the service technician, the design of the rotors is the problem. . . . They are too.

I would never buy a kia again. This car has been nothing but trouble. The transmission prematurely went out with no warning. Had to be completly replaced. Both front headlight assemblies melted due to reasons still unknown. The brakes worn prematurely. Not to mention all of the other hassles I've had with this car. Sometimes I wish someone would just take it, I hate it so much!.

While driving on the highway the in rainy conditions put on brakes and car started to shake very badly. This caused car to lose control and go into the other lane. Consumer feels that this could have caused an accident. Consumer said it was the front brakes, took to dealer, and they said the warranty was up. But they had fixed it twice before for the same problem.
Brakes were grinding. Took to dealer, and was informed that warranty on brakes had expired. Consumer took vehicle to another mechanic, and they cut rotors, and replaced front pads. Brakes were wearing too fast. Please provide any further infomation.
I've the front brake pads and rotors replaced five times due to pulsation, vibration, and warping. To this day I feel the brake system is still not working properly. The vehicle is a lease and the dealership says I could turn it in but, I would loose the money I've paid and my down payment. If I turn the vehicle in I think I would have to pay penalties. If you could give me more help or info on what to do I would be very thankful. My 21 month old son and my fiance would also appreciate the help thank you mr. Richard soto sr. .
While driving at 35 mph consumer tried to put on brakes and steering wheel was almost ripped out of driver's hand. Rotors were bad, causing vibration. Brake pedal went to the floor, no brakes. Dealer fixed rotors and brakes. However, on oct 3, 2000 brakes failed again.
The power windows & door locks would go up & down on their own. The doors are not locked securely. The windows fail to remain close or open when this happens. The steering wheel would vibrate after vehicle is started. Whenever the brakes are applied, vehicle shakes. The tire moulding & the trim is peeling off. Every time the vehicle stops, it would to be jump started, constantly. Taking vehicle back to dealer to repair problems.
In less than 6 months, I have had my vehichle in and have brake pads and rotors replaced. I have spoken to several people who own Sephia's, all have problems with the brakes. Each time I bring it in they say there was a problem and they now came out with this new pad. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. I have a 3 year old son who travels everywhere with me, and having bad brakes is real scary - not to mention an imposition when I do need to bring it in to be fixed.
This wiil be the 3rd time in less than a year that the rotors have warped.
While driving on old route 50 another vehicle cut across in front of consumer's vehicle. Consumer was not able to stop, and hit vehicle broadside. Neither airbag deployed. Contacted manufacturer, and was told nothing was wrong. Since the accident, airbags have been on all the time. Also, had brakes replaced 5 or 6 times. When applying brakes the steering wheel shakes. Also, done an alignment.
I have had this car in several times for the braking system, and have been told variable things, such as the problem is fixed we now have Honda brakes on this vehicle, to it's not covered because it the way you drive after just having the rotors and pads replaced 2000 miles ago 2 times in a row.
Fuel line which is attached to the passenger's seat has separated, causing fuel leakage in the passenger's compartment, also, excessive wear of brake pads and rotors, causing loss of steering control. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced sending unit/pump/rotors and pads. Please provide any further details.

Since purchase date I have had numerous problems such as vehicle stalling in middle of highway, engine light staying on, radio, air conditioner and most importantly the brakes. The original brakes failed at 5560 miles, replacemts at 7520 miles, again at 10750 miles. This is a major inconvenience and I am afraid an accident will occur.
