Air Bag Light On problems of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento - part 1

Airbag light . . . Front driver airbag fault / curtain airbag fault.

The passenger airbag light came on for no reason. I got the code pulled at a local shop for free thankfully. The code was b1764 OCS mat defect. Now because it failed for no reason I have no airbags at all. From other people's complaints it can cost $1,000 to $3,000 to fix. Awesome. I really loved my sorrento too.

A month ago while driving home from a day of shopping and the drivers side air bag light came on. I checked the wires underneath the drivers seat to make sure everything was still connected the light stays on. The engine light came on just yesterday 12. 5. 2020. Stays on will not shut off. I checked the gas cap to make sure it was tight then went to auto zone so they could use their dtc. (the clerk put an estimate of miles on my paperwork as he did not go outside to get actual milage. )the code was obd2. I was due for a oil change and transmission flush. I got those repaired but still have issues with the light. The paperwork states error code read p0014 exhaust camshaft position timing over advanced bank 1 indicates that the bank 1 exhaust camshaft position timing was advanced beyond limits for a predetermined. Of time. The only thing I noticed was that I didn't even have the heat on and there was nice amount of heat coming through the vents but the heat dial was on the off position. The instrument panel.

The air bag light turned on with our any reason. Car won't acelerate, stop and get speed in unsafe wait on the highway.

Air bag light stays on after battery replacement. Dealer wants over 1200. 00 to repair.

Air bag light came on for no reason and will not shut off. I did troubleshoot according to the manual that came with my vehicle. The light still did not shut off. My guess is that it has malfunctioned. Looking on line other people with the same year kia are having the same problem. Vehicle was stationary when it came on as well as when I was driving on the highway and city streets.

Drive side airbag light came on and now steering controls are not working. Kia dealer stated its the air bag control module that is faulty.

My abs, airbag light is on before. After replacing the clock spring the lights are still on, and also both my back seat belts will not go down. The car has not been in any accidents.

Airbag light for passenger is on. Also the back right passenger door won't open from the outside or inside. Door not locked and child lock is off.

Front passenger seat occupant airbag sensor mat failed. The airbag light came on without cause. Took the car to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem. My research shows that this is a systemic problem with kia's. Many kia's have already been recalled. It does not appear that this model has been recalled as of yet. Please advise.

The vehicle's airbag light turned on when stationary (as I started the car) and remained on at about 100,000 miles. Mechanic inspection yielded issue with steering wheel clock spring. Mechanic ordered part from kia dealership but there is a manufacturing issue and the vehicle has to be retrofitted to fit the part. As of 8/5/2019, there are no unrepaired recalls on this car or for this specific safety issue, but years of documentation of complaints for it, and it is a manufacturing defect. Why hasn't this been added as a formal recall? have not checked cruise control or horn, but volume controls on steering wheel still working. Passenger airbag light sometimes off when passenger is on seat, sometimes on when no one is in seat.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and remained lit. The contact also stated that the headlights operated intermittently and the steering wheel pulled to the right. There was no warning indicator illuminated. An appointment was scheduled with lee johnson kia (425-827-0521, located at 11845 ne 85th st, kirkland, wa 98033). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

Started engine air bag light did not go off has been on for about 2 weeks.

My kia Sorento 2011 the air bag light is on for days when I started the car and when I turn the wheel it goes off than goes on when I strait it in movement or not the light is on . Something is wrong with that have to be recall.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the passenger air bag warning indicator constantly illuminated. The contact called kia of east syracuse (6717 manlius center rd, east syracuse, NY 13057, (315) 701-5898) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall and that diagnostic testing was needed. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 139,000.

The air bag light came on yesterday. . . And suspension while drying trials you over in left lane if you hit a bump.

The passenger airbag light stays on while their is a passenger in the car with their seatbelt is on while the vechicle is being operated.

My air bag light stays on and my headlights are black and have melted wires.

The driver air bag light came on and will not go off when I turned on the vehicle one morning. . At the same time, all of my electronics on the steering wheel quit working ( cruise control, blue tooth, radio). I was told this is a clock spring issue and has happened to many 2011 kia Sorento owners. Is this not a recall?.

My car driver side air bag light came on suddenly and dealer wants to charge to diagnose and repair. The driver seat lower back adjusting cushion does not function anymore. The rear driver side door does not umlock dealer wants to charge to diagnose or inspect and order the door handle base mechanism part, then charge for that and installation.

Air bag light has been on for about a year, dealership did not know how to fix problem and told me it was a part of a recall issue but was never fixed. Last month my engine locked up on me while driving on highway, upon my husband and police getting there to assist, I was informed that there was no oil in my reservoir, my husband bought oil only to return and notice that drain plug was not in place, engine is burnt up and my insurance neither dealership where truck was serviced wants to assist me with cost! I don't have $7,752 for a new engine!.

I took my 2011 kia Sorento in to Kia Motors in american fork, utah to get the airbag light checked out. It has been on for quite some time now. They told me that the OCS mat needed to be replaced and wanted to charge me $1600 to fix. Since my airbags can not detect anything without getting this part replaced, its a major safety issue. This needs to be recalled.

Steering wheel controls for radio/phone quit working and the airbag light came on. No accident etc, just quit working.

There was a replacement of the passenger cv axle. It was aftermarket and not oem. I had to replace the front low beam wiring harness and bulbs at my own cost twice. Once in florida and another in my home state. Also the passenger side airbag light isn't working properly. They sent me the recalls on both. Then proceeded to say that the recall for the airbag light is under recall. Also if I could not get or find my receipts from the mechanic shop. I would not get reimbursed. Kia has been knowing about this problem for years! on top of the cv axle this is too much. It is damaging my transmission as we speak. My brakes are very spongey.

Air bag light came on at 70000 miles. Dealer ran a scan and we were told the passenger OCS mat was bad. They quoted us at $1600 to fix. Needless to say we are not happy as this is a safety issue that should be recalled.

Airbag light came on randomly. Has not shut off.

At 100,900 miles my air bag light came on, car brought to the dealership and I was informed by air bag sensor is defective. In order to fix the problem I will need to pay $1900 to get entire drivers seat replaced. I currently am driving with no air bags in the entire car.
