Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

The air bag light is on and will not go off. There is nothing in the passenger seat and it does not go away when turning the car off and back on. This means that+s the airbags will not deploy in the casebook of an accident which is a hazard.

Airbag did not deploy during accident. Before accident airbag light was on and steering wheel functions were working (cruise, horn, volume ect. ) driver side window would not roll up.

Last week the airbag light came on in my car and apparently it is the coil spring in the steering wheel. From what we have done our research on, this is common for this vehicle but is not a recall. I do believe that if the is occuring in several of these models, it should be a recall. This is dangerous because the airbags may not deploy if the car is wrecked. I would appreciate proper change for this to be a recall.

My 2011 kia Sorento is accident-free. When the mileage was at about 85,000, the air bag light turned on when I started the car one day, and has stayed lit when the car is running ever since. Around the same mileage, I noticed that the passenger air bag "off" light is sometimes lit when there is an adult passenger, and it is sometimes not lit when no passenger is in the passenger seat. From what I read online, this is a known issue that is expensive to fix (the clock spring electrical assembly and the passenger occupant sensor mat or entire passenger seat needs replacement). It looks like kia had a recall on this same issue for the 2007-8 kia rondo and the 2006-8 kia optima; this should be a recall for the 2011 kia Sorento. I will get this repair completed since it is an obviously unsafe defect - I read many consumer complaints about air bags failing to deploy in an accident.

Car shifter is not engaging and disengaging resulting in not being able to place car in park. This issues was a recall before however; the fix didn't resolve the problem and kia has not offered a new fix. Also, air bag light still illuminating after recall fix. Again kia refuse to fix and issue could cause air bag not to deploy in an accident. Also, back rear passenger door won't open from the inside or outside.

The airbag light illuminates red on my 2011 kia Sorento with 55,000 miles. This indicates the airbag would not deploy in a crash. Although Kia Motors has sent out the extended warranty to cover the airbag clock spring assembly, this airbag failure was diagnosed under code b1764, and is a defective seat cushion with a replacement cost of $1300. This defective part should be included in the extended warranty for airbags, or determine an alternate fix. A defective part that is not critical in a crash has rendered my airbags useless.

Kia sent a notice that they are extending the warranty for the front airbag clock spring assembly. My airbag light is staying illuminated so I took it into the dealer for a diagnostic. My airbag light is on and according to the kia dealership there is a malfunction that needs to be repaired. They told me that my car went our of warranty in early June 2015 and that I have to pay for this repair(approx $500. 00). This strikes me as wrong since there has never been an accident with my vehicle and thus the airbag has never deployed. How can they claim that my airbag is broken since it has never been used/activated? how can it not be the manufacturer"s/dealer responsibility to correct the defect. The airbag light lit up so I took it to the dealer. They said it was the clock spring and not covered under warranty. They also wanted to let me know that my airbags will probably not deploy if I get in a wreck. Multiple owners of Sorento's have complained and there should be a recall. Kia recalled the hondo in 2007 or 08 for the same problem. This is not acceptable! they want 500. 00 to replace it!.

Airbag sensor light came on suddenly. Took vehicle to dealership and after "resetting" the sensor light three times they needed to take more diagnostics. They came back that the clock spring needed to be changed. This repair for part and labor is $500. I couldn't get it fixed today so if I get into an accident the drivers airbag will not deploy.

My vehicle was traveling at about 50 miles and hour and a car turned in front of me and I tee boned him. My car went up onto the 2 front wheels and the skidded into a telephone pole at about 30 miles an hour. My car is totaled. My concern is that the air bags never deployed during either impact and I think they should have. I have pictures to show the condition of the car.

Driver on side-street tried to cut across main road directly in front of me causing me to swerve to avoid her. My kia Sorento then hit a brick wall and a 2,000+ pound cast iron entrance gate. I was in a three car accident in which I rear ended a stopped vehicle at 40mph. Upon looking at kia's own website and the owner's manual for the 2011 kia Sorento, I can see that the impact took place on the airbag sensor on the drivers side of the vehicle. The airbags failed to deploy & the front drivers side seat belt & front passenger side seat belt failed to 'lock'. This resulted in my 92 year old grandmother hitting the dash with her face, and I as the driver, hit my head on the steering wheel sustaining a concussion & whiplash. I am still suffering severe pain that I have to be medicated for with narcotics, and short term memory loss. My grandmother, luckily only sustained facial bruising.
