general problems of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento - part 2

The left rear passenger quit working. The door cannot be opened from inside or outside. Now the driver door will not open from the outside, but will open from the inside. I have ready many complaints about this problem. We have small grand children that are taken in this vehicle and the concern is that both rear doors quit working before the afore mentioned repairs are made. This has repeatedly happened to doors that have been fixed as well from all the complaint I've read. This has just recently happened to my vehicle. What are the chances of the other doors quitting after these repairs are made. Looks to be above average. This car has not been taken to a dealer yet as the driver door just broke.

The car intermittently smells like burning rubber after being driven. This has been an ongoing and unresolved issue for about a year, and is of serious concern to me. The car has approximately 130k miles, and is in excellent condition otherwise. Two mechanics have tried to troubleshoot this issue without being able to find the problem. I have tried to eliminate certain potential causes I. E. Turning the air or heat off, etc. , but it does not affect it. The car does not read "hot". No warning lights come on. There are no signs of leaking fluids, etc. As my garage floor is clean. With kia having a history of some engines catching fire, it is of even greater concern, although my particular vehicle does not appear to have a recall for that issue.

The contact owned a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at 25 mph, a ups truck veered off into her lane causing the contact to crash her vehicle into a curb. The contact stated that the next morning, she saw that her vehicle was leaking an immense amount of oil. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then stated while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and the contact saw smoke emerging from the engine compartment. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact opened the hood to fire behind the engine. There were no crash or injures due to the fire. The air bags did not deploy. The fire department was contacted but did not extinguish the fire. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to back to the repair shop. The repair shop informed the contact that they do not specialize in fires and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The vehicle was then diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist. The failure mileage was 132,685.

Inside door handle popped and I was unable to open the driver's door from inside the car. This also happened to the rear door and I needed a door latch kit and also on the front door latch kit had to be replaced. The safety or it is not safe when you cannot open your car door from inside the car.

Both rear door latches on my 2011 kia Sorento have failed. I previously had to have my mechanic replace the driver door latch which failed, now both rear door latches have failed making it impossible to open either door from the inside or out. Having researched this issue I have found numerous people who have listed this as an issue they have experienced. A technical service bulletin was issued, I believe around 2016, extending the warranty on the door latches to 10 years from the first date of service. I only found this service bulletin while searching for solutions to the problem and the 10 year period has expired. Not being able to open either rear door is a safety hazard. I transport my grandchildren who are all under 5 years of age, and should I be involved in an accident or caught fire while transporting them, or anyone who is riding in the rear seats, it would be difficult to get them out of the vehicle quickly. I do not understand why a recall on this has not been issued as I believe this is an extreme safety issue and it is well documented that this is an issue with many kia Sorento owners. My cost to repair the driver door latch was just over $800.

When driving on the highway, the vehicle will shut-off without warning. This has happened about five times in the last four months.

Doors fail to open from the outside of vehicle. Headlight wiring harness will melt wiring for the light bulb and kill the lightbulb. Driver seat feels loose, however the bolts are as tight as they will go.

My door handle or door latch will not open from the outside on my drivers side door and also my left back door will not open from the outside or inside. It is dangerous for and my kids. Also, my headrest has fallen off. I have issues with my lights, they will not work for the interior.

Doors will not open from the outside. This is the third time this has happened for my vehicle.

I was leaving my mom house around ten o�clock at night. As I was five minutes away from my apartments my car made a loud sound and started to slow down. I stop my car and put it un park and I seen smoke coming from inside the hood. I get out the car and grab my son and , I knock on someone's door for help and after that fire starts. I call the fire department and they came in about 3-5 minutes and they forced my hood open due to my hood latch missing . After the fire was put out I found pieces of metal on the ground from my kia.

Driver side door can not be open from the outside. Not with key fob or with the key. Car has 46,000 miles on it. It is lightly used. Dealer says it will cost 413. 00 to repair. After looking on line, this is a common problem. Cant understand why there hasn't been a recall on it.

Drivers door will not open through outside have to climb through passanger door. This could be definitely a safety issue with my well being as I could be pulled from car while attempting to enter. . I am almost 60 and this is very hard on me to climb from passenger side to drivers side especially in the rain or dark parking lot with all the crime going on these days.

My abs, airbag light is on before. After replacing the clock spring the lights are still on, and also both my back seat belts will not go down. The car has not been in any accidents.

I can not open both driver door and rear right passenger door from outside it seems the latches for these doors are broken I have always to jump to the passenger side to open these doors. I think there must be a recall to be reported to kia manufacturers to fix this defective doors.

Numerous times over the past couple of months, both the esc and dbc indicator lights will come on and stay on as I'm attempting to park the vehicle. This has prevented me from shifting the car into �park� after pulling into a parking space as I can't get it to shift beyond �neutral. � when this happens, I've had to shut the car off, and start it again. If the indicator lights go off after restarting, I can then shift the car into park. I brought the car into my local kia dealer this morning but they were unable to replicate the issue, and since they didn't have a technician on duty to look at it, I now have to return on Monday in the hope that they can figure out and fix this issue.

I have had to replace all doorsop latches on my 2011 Sorento with only 72,000 miles on it. I am a senior so the doors are not opened and shut the much. Mainly the drivers door used.

My car stalls while driving on the highway or street. The engine light or dashboard lights will come on and my car will not accelerate although it is on. After continously trying to accelerate the car cuts off. I put the car in park and turn off and it starts again. This is unsafe because I can be hit by another when my car suddenly decides to not accelerate. The component part or system that may be the cause is unknown.

The rear passenger door handle will not open the from the outside or inside the vehicle. Car is stationary. Cause is unknown, just could not open one day.

En este a�o a partir DE julio mi carro kia Sorento 2011 a presentado problema en la direcion, power tren, DE acuerdo a lo que indica que tiene un desperfecto DE fabrica, en dos ocaciones he tenido problema muy fuerte, se bloqueo el carro manejando y lo frenos no funcionaron y el carro siguio rodando y pude haber tenido un accidente. . . La otra en la carretera el carro comienza a sonar las ruedas y cuando se frena tambalea. . . Lo lleve para la inspeccion y paso correctamente pero me entregaron una hoja que el carro tiene desperfecto DE fabrica ,,, lo lleve a la kia para la revision DE las partes,,,la cual realizaron el pedido DE las mismas. . . Pero yo como usuario no me siento conforme ya que ese cambio no me da segurida por que corre peligro mi vidad y la DE la familia,,, no necesito un carro reparado lo que necesito un carro que me DE segurida para toda la familia,,, una vez que cambien las parte y se me falla en la carretera quien responde por mi vida y la DE la familia y la DE otras personas, necesito que por favor me ayuden con una investigacion, ya que tambien tiene otros desperfecto. . Lo lleve alinear y me dice que le falta un pieza en las ruedas que no viene DE fabrica y ES un desperfecto,,, ya a mi el carro no me da confianza al manejar y no ES confiable. . . Espero que durante los dos a�os que falta DE garantia ya que dan 10 a�os no me pase nada a mi y a mi familia. . Ya que ese problema que tiene y no se realiza bien puede pasar un gran accidente. . . El punto ES que necesito un carro que me DE confianza ya que en este manejo con temor . Adjunto fotos.

Vehicle was parked in the garage and stationary. When trying to start the vehicle using the key-less ignition, dash and interior lights started to flicker in the vehicle and relays start to click. Locks would not operate nor could I shift into neutral, started to smelt burning, pushed ignition button to shut down. Would not shut off, electrical kept cycling like it was trying to start on its own, had to disconnect the battery to shut down the car. Starter solenoid never engaged at any time nor did the engine try to turn over.

Car ran fine. Drove to store. Got out of store. Car wouldn't start. Had so. Eone check battery . Battery was good. 12. 5 . Had them check that wires where tight on battery and they where. Still no power to car. Left car at store . Came back next day and car started up like nothing wrong. This has happen twice since.

The airbag light is on and the steering wheel controls for volume and bluetooth do not work.

Rear passager door will not open.

I was driving on a busy hwy my car stalled out almost was hit by a dump truck . The dump truck ran off the road to avoid me thank god no one was hurt after doing some research found out this is a common problem think it's time for a recall.

On Friday evening 30 August while driving at highway speed on I-66 in northern va the hood inexplicably opened up on our 2011 kia Sorento. The secondary hood latch had apparently failed and the hood violently smashed against the windshield and roof. By some miracle, the windshield did not shatter and I was able to get the vehicle to the shoulder on a notoriously congested and accident-prone highway without causing an accident, thus preventing injury or death to myself and others. When kia consumer assistance (CA) opened on 3 September (after labor day) I filed a case (#13336462). I had confirmed online that there were no open recalls on our Sorento but noted there was a recall (sc134) on the 2006-2014 kia sedona hood latch because of the danger of the hood opening while driving that could result in a crash. I drove the Sorento to ourisman kia in chantilly, va where the service department confirmed the hood latch had failed and reported this to kia CA. Despite owning 3 kia vehicles and calling to speak with 3 different individuals at kia CA (lisa, annette, jeremy) as nobody would return our calls to provide updates over 3 days, none of these facts about the potential lethal vulnerability mattered to kia who refused to cover the cost of repairs because our 2011 Sorento is outside of the 100,000 mile warranty by 18,000 miles. Kia CA did not care that the same faulty part was already recalled on a different kia vehicle. Kia CA appeared unconcerned with the very real possibility that their faulty product can cause serious injury and even death. Thank god my wife or children were not driving the Sorento at the time of the hood latch failure. I implore the NHTSA work to hold kia accountable to rectify this very dangerous situation and extend the hood latch recall to the 2011 kia Sorento before there are innocent victims. Please don't let kia mean 'killed in accident. '.

This was noted while the vehicle was stationary but likely also occurs during at all times. Front door latches were repaired(not replaced) by kia coral springs on 01/06/2017 (invoice k1cs733790) per cs1603a. Currently, the passenger front now never opens from the outside and the driver side occasionally. Dealer said (case# 1331-7164) , it was a one time fix even though they repaired not replaced. I reached out to kia and they agreed. They said I could fix them and petition for reimbursement. Getting to the latches requires completely dismantling the door and would cost about $500 per door and I fear this will happen every 2-3 years (on an 2011/9 year old car!) .

The vehicle jerks around 40 miles per hour. No codes.

Everytime I hit a little bump in the road my eco saver goes off causing me to burn more gas until I hit another bump to knock the saver back on.

My car has stalled plenty of times within 3 months. Two of which I could have been killed on the hwy!. Car stalls, no power then shuts off. I would shut it off for a bit then turn it back on. I did take it in to the shop and they found nothing else but was charged for throttle and new sparks. Oh, and no lights on dash. Same thing happened. Lots of money spent. I still owe on it so I can't afford to get another car. Don't know what to do next.

The pearl white paint is peeling off of my 2011 kia Sorento. The dealer is aware of this and had no response. I was told by other individuals with the same problem to file this information in anticipation of a recall. This has been happening over the past year and a half.

I was driving the car 2 weeks ago may 4 thand the car die in the middle of the road. I got someone to help push the car in there driveway. When back the next day with a mecanic he told me the car engine need to be replaced. Didn't believe him cause I brought the car 3 yrs ago. Before the car die the check engine turn on than die. The seatbelt turn in 1 month ago . Now I have 9000 left on the car the won't wrong take back and the dealership won't make a strades.

�tamara recall� I was traveling up the interstate slightly uphill at 55 miles an hour when I begin to lose power\speed and before I could get it to the shoulder it lost all power to gather and smoke started coming in the ac vent when I got it stopped and open the hood it was burning at the back right hand side of the motor on some wiring harness I was able to put the fire out I later was told that it had thrown a rod and was most likely the cause of the fire.

When I reached the shoulder and opened the hood the back right end of the motor was on fire from the wiring harnesses. I was able to put out the fire. Upin a mechanic looking at it I was told it had thrown a rod and most likely the fire.

Passenger door front and rear do not open from the outside. A very large known issue from kia Sorentos, mainly 2011 that kia wants me to pay 668. 00 per door for a 1. 50 piece. This issue in my mind is a safety issue but they do not agree. I have a fear all 4 of doors may have this issue at some time. Clearly after looking at google this is a known issue. The service manager told me the same. He said he has fixed hundreds of these.
