My stability light comes on while driving and my brake lights do not function, have been looking on internet and there seems to be a lot of problems of the exact same nature. You will be rear ended if you have no brake lights. My vehicle has 33000 miles on it. I think kia needs to recall the Sorentos for this issue.
Brake lights turn on and off. Brake lights will work sometimes when I stop and sometimes they want work.
My headlights continue to blow out every 2 months, no matter what kind of bulb I replace them with. Both headlights will go out, brake lights are also blowing out every 1. 5 month. I brought it to my dealer: kia of ventura,CA attention but they keep dismissing it as nothing is wrong. I have been pulled over twice so far this year for both break stop & headlights blowing out and not working during night time road travels across states. I feel this is. Very dangerous. Apparently, this isn't an isolated incident as I have come to know of 50+ kia Sorento owners facing similar electrical safety issues. Also, ever I bought the car the mile per gallon the car is supposedly to give isn't correct, it only averages about 12-14 mpg. Please look into both of these safety issues as I drive with two under 5yrs kids and elderly mother. What is the NHTSA waiting for? multiple death fatalities before your organization takes action. . Do it now please. Any resulting fatalities will make you legally liable for failing to take action after soo many complaints.
While driving home from work my headlights stopped working at now then my brakes stopped working. So I had no lights at all. Almost got into an accident because the other vehicles could not see me until the last minute. This is not the first time that it happened. I am having to wait until this morning to go and replace them. It's a lot of complaints about the wiring or something burning out the headlights and brake lights but nothing has been done about it. Contacted kia dealership about it and they were rumor about the issue. Please look into this more because it can cause people serious injuries.
In the last two years I have replaced every bulb in my car and multiple fuses and for some reason there is still a short in my fuse panel so my brake lights constantly pop the fuse. It is cost me a lot of money and we still have not found out where the short is in the electrical system but my brake lights constantly blow a fuse and bulbs.
Nighttime driving with this vehicle is horrible. While a well-lit interstate may not necessarily be an issue, dark roadways (rural, dark interstates, some urban streets) are. The headlights will blow randomly blow within as few as some days after replacement to a month after replacement. The headlight assembly uses projector lenses. However, the light does not project. I have tried adjusting the headlights and the headlights respond by projecting a scattered beam that barely illuminates the roadway. Cheap walmart flood lights do a better job than these projector lenses. I tried using leds to get more light. While the mission was technically accomplished, the beam pattern is still scattered. I detail cars and the plastic cover is not the issue. My state law tells me that my headlights should illuminate a pedestrian 400 feet away during nighttime hours. These lights do not do this. My function as a police officer is that of a traffic crash investigator (with extensive NHTSA training spanning from sfst through advanced traffic crash) as well and these headlights will contribute to animal/pedestrian strikes as they do not project the light where it is needed. There are a number of kia forums talking about the same thing across many different models. This needs to be a recall that replaces the ground wire and the headlight assembly to project the light where it needs to be. These lights are dangerous. There are a number of electrical issues with these vehicles (such as the brake lights going out completely for no random reason or the brake lights remaining illuminated without application of the brake) but this one takes the cake. This has been an ongoing issue with this vehicle since we purchased it in 2016. This vehicle has a poor iihs rating for small overlap crashes. The lights don't illuminate the roadway well enough when passing another car on a two-lane highway.
I have two major safety hazards going on with my vehicle that I fear for the safety of my 4 children and wife when we're driving on the highway, and other fast roads. The first issue is the electrical. It first started back around 40,000 miles when I took my kia to a kia dealership in naperville, IL and they told me both low beams were out, so they replace them. Ever since, I've been replacing these bulbs every 3-6 months because they keep blowing out while driving and it's against the law to use high beams, so I'm driving in pitch black. Now, just 3months ago, both of my brake lights go out, at the same time. Three years ago my back up camera stopped working, and hasn't worked since. At 57k miles my engine was recalled for engine failures, ad within the last 6 months I've experienced stalling, stuttering, knocking while driving on high ways, at red lights, in traffic. Furthermore, in September 27, 2019 my engine oil was completely undetectable on the dip stick when I took it in for a routine oil change at 99,664 miles. Also, back at 64,977 miles during routine service, it was low. With these concerns, I took my kia in today to the gerald kia north aurora, IL, they ran diagnostics and said everything was perfect. They said they cannot explain why my bulbs keep burning out. The tech manager also stated that the stalling and knocking in my engine is because my engine had no oil in it. He checked for leaks, and didn't find any leaks. My last oil change at a jiffy lube, they told me the same thing at 99,664 miles, it was almost dry. At todays service, mileage is 102,554. That means 5 quarts of oil burned up in 2,890 miles or most likely way sooner because after 1. 5 months of the oil change I started experienced stalling, knocking, stuttering in the engine, so that must have been at only 1000-1500 miles. I put in a claim with kia consumer affairs, but I'm not satisfied.
