Coolant and oil are mixing. Coolant was over flowing from the reservoir. High oil consumption. Oil was just topped off about 1000 miles ago and is very low on the dipstick now. Coolant mixing with oil seems like the issue the 2016-17 3. 3 v6s are experiencing with the stripped head bolts. Head gasket/engine failure is imminent. Extend the warranty to all 3. 3 liters not just 2016 and 2017 (15 years/180,000).
Engine shut off without warning while driving. My wife was driving and was able to roll off road thankfully. She was on a very busy road and was in serious risk of injury along with the cars behind her. Did not start back up. Battery had power. Found out engine failed! verified by mechanic. Called kia corporate customer service number and was told the engine will not be repaired. 125,000 miles. No warning lights came on. This is absolutely wrong of kia! shame on them!.
I have had complete engine failure while driving and also paint chipping in several areas.
I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The engine light started flashing and the car lost power. I was able to get to the shoulder. I tried getting to the next exit but even doing 15mph I could hear a noise in the engine. I shut the car off and called for a tow. The car was towed to my mechanic who looked at the car. He called to tell me I had engine failure. He called kia and gave them my VIN. He said they confirmed my car was included in the engine failure group. I then had the car towed to the local kia dealership. A day later they confirmed that my car needed a new engine. They submitted things to kia. Told me it would take 3 business days for an answer.
Engine stall on freeway at high rate of speed, engine light began to flash and now makes rod tap noise. Towed to mechanic who diagnosed engine failure. Stated the technical advisory on this vehicle maintains that premature engine failure remains in this year vehicle as well as prior years that have been recalled.
I took my car in to a kia dealership recently for preventative maintenance, and because I noticed that it was not driving as smoothly as usual. I was told that nothing was wrong with the car, but, there was a product improvement campaign for which software was updated on my vehicle. Approximately one month later, I was out of town in my vehicle, and all of a sudden the engine light began to flash, the rpms went down, the transmission appeared to slip, and the car was essentially disabled. The kia service department that I brought it to explained to my husband that the "product improvement campaign" -- where the software was added to my vehicle was due to the fact that kia knows that the engines have issues, and may have catastrophic failure early, and because of this, they have designed something to put the vehicle in a 'limp home mode', so that it is not further damaged. Because this has not been called a recall -- even though kia has full knowledge of engine issues -- a vast majority of kia oweners of the affected vehicles have not had this software update, and are at risk of their engine failing at high speeds, endangering themselves, their families, and others. This is an absolute public safety issue. Additionally, just replacing the engines is not enough, these vehicles need to be completely recalled. Many are still being financed, and owners owe thousands of dollars on vehicles that will have to carry a salvage tag, and be worth pennies on the dollar due to having an engine that it was not manufactured with. Please hold kia accountable for their irresponsibility, and consumer fraud.
I was driving and was stopped in a turning lane waiting to turn when the car stopped working and wouldn't do anything. I had it towed to a kia dealer and was told the engine had seized. There was no reason for this to have happened on a newer vehicle. I was told there was sludge, much like I am finding a lot of other people with these vehicles were told. It cost me $5700 to have a used engine put in that will likely fail as well, as after researching this is a common problem in these vehicles. There was a recall up to year 2014 for known engine failure and it should be extended to 2015 because the problem is beyond the year 2014 engines.
After kia dealership installed the knock sensor software update in October 2018, the engine went into limp home mode with engine light blinking in the month of January 2019. Dealership advised me engine failed and would be replaced under kia warranty for this issue. Vehicle has 57,000 miles on it. Problem now is dealership says new engine won't be sent to them for 3-4 weeks. Then additional week to install. It's already been there over two weeks. They did provide loaner. Correction this occurred in December 2018, not January 2019.
Purchased a used 2015 kia Sorento from a used car lot on February 15, 2018. I've experienced no issues with the vehicle until August 19, 2018 while driving home from work. While driving on the freeway, and accelerating, the vehicle completely stalled. We pulled the vehicle over and tried our best to get it to restart. It had to be towed home. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and confirmed the kia had complete engine failure due to the engine seizing. Please contact me for inspection documentation (currently at work and unable to upload the receipt).
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while the driver was driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The driver power off the engine. The vehicle was restarted two hours later and was able to drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but no failure code was found. The failure recurred a second time. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where a second diagnostic testing was completed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 166,000. Aw.
The contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle shut off and the oil warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (myrtle beach kia in myrtle beach, SC) where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to an internal engine failure. The dealer recommended that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the warranty applied to the original owner only. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 73,864.
We had just left home, and were driving at approximately 40 miles per hour, and no "warning lights or indicator lights" came on, we lost all power about a quarter mile away. Coasting to the side of the road and called for road-side assistance. Had vehicle towed to dealer, and was told it was engine failure, due to seizure of engine.
The vehicle was in motion 35mph when suddenly all the lights in the panel flashed and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer diagnosed the car with engine failure . They refused to cover the damage under warranty and claim that is due to lack of maintenance even though we provided them with service records. This is a faulty engine and kia is refusing to stand by their product.
