After my 2015 kia Sorento sx was recalled for faulty engine; it was rebuilt. However, my car has recently stalled while driving and I had to get it towed to the dealership. I was told there was another engine oil leak. They claimed to rebuild the engine, but I am having the same exact issue. I have had nothing but issues since purchasing this car. This is a very dangerous problem, and could have resulted in a fire causing serious bodily harm or worse. I am asking for another recall, because apparently the first time they allegedly fixed the faulty engine was to no avail as I am having the exact same issue as I had prior to the engine being rebuilt. The problem has not been remedied. I also read several news articles where there was recent recall on the kia Sorento models as well as several others. However, upon searching to check if there was in fact another recall, there is not. This is confusing and I would like to know what is going on as several news articles state indeed 2015 kia Sorento has another recall.
Vehicle lost power while driving. There were no warning lights, no check engine lights. Daughter in-law was driving vehicle. She made it home with vehicle. My son looked at vehicle when he got home from work. He found oil to be low, oil was changed in January. No signs of oil leaking. He removed oil filter and found metal shavings in oil. My son is a small engine/diesel mechanic. He hooked up his code reader, error readings were related to cylinder bank. They had vehicle towed to closet kia dealer, about 70 miles, verdict from dealership needs new engine at tune of $10,000. My son cannot afford a $10,000 repair bill, he had the vehicle towed home. The vehicle has about 125,000 miles on it. My concerns with this are why no warning or check engine lights? my second concern is that the kia recall and class action lawsuit and subsequent settlement maybe should have included the v6 engines. Kia is known for engine problems. And maybe I can't even be the one to enter this report since I am not vehicle owner but I am not willing to rollover and give up. My son just wants to be rid of vehicle and try get out from under the $8,000 he still owes on loan. I think this is a continuation of the engine problems kia has.
I noticed my 2015 kia sorrento was idling very hard. This stopped momentarily and then began again and the engine light began flashing. The vehicle struggles to accelerate and I turned the vehicle off. Upon inspecting there was no oil leak but little to no oil in the engine and no indication of a problem. The vehicle was routinely oil changed and maintained.
Approximately 1 month ago my car sounded rough so I checked the oil and nothing showed on the dipstick. I put oil in it and since have had to add more, also now my mechanic has diagnosed the alternator is going. Oil shows up in the tailpipe which means the engine is using oil, it is not a leak. I am so disappointed as I bought it only one year ago and I use it for my living. I am expecting more problems and don't know how to proceed.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact purchased the vehicle on August 15, 2018. A couple of days later, the check engine indicator illuminated, the vehicle would not accelerate on the highway, and the vehicle shook. Galeana Chrysler Jeep kia (180 greystone blvd, columbia, SC 29210, (803) 779-7300) performed a diagnostic test and cleared some of the codes that appeared; however, the failures recurred. On another occasion, when the vehicle was started, a booming sound was heard from the engine compartment. An independent mechanic stated that some screws detached from the cam timing shaft and the vehicle was leaking oil. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but they stated that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact was referred to the manufacturer who also stated that the vehicle was out of warranty since it had over 60,000 miles. The dealer stated that the vehicle had a history of code misfires and needed a new engine. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Had oil light go on when I would take off from a stop but would turn off when I stop. I called the dealer and took it in and was told that the oil filter was put in wrong. The dealer put a new one on and did all the test to make sure it was working proper. Nine day later I had a oil leak and called the same dealer and was told to come back in. The service manager then told me the because someone else had done other oil changes on the car I would have to pay for any repairs if the other place would not. When I asked about the part being under warranty the service manager told me that this part was not under warranty. The service also told me that even if the dealer did the oil change after the first one that kia would not warranty it. So now I will get a bill over 900 dollars and still not know if I have a engine that will work .
