My stability light comes on while driving and my brake lights do not function, have been looking on internet and there seems to be a lot of problems of the exact same nature. You will be rear ended if you have no brake lights. My vehicle has 33000 miles on it. I think kia needs to recall the Sorentos for this issue.

Brought my vehicle back to dealership for kia recall sc148. Tech applied silicone, a suggestion in recall. If problem persists, which it did in our case, rear wheel hubs need replacing. When brought in originally for recall, vehicle had 84,972 miles. Stability control warning lights on dash stay lit. Car is now over 100k miles and dealership says it is out of warranty. Repair will cost us $982 now. No one from kia corporate ever returns my phone calls, numerous calls. My case #is 13183158 from kia.
I was informed brake lights were not illuminating. Electric stability control idiot light showed up on dashboard right before being informed. Car is also not shifting into park or reverse. Drive gear seems ok.

This is the most recent and serious electric issue; I do not know the exact dates of earlier issues. I believe all these electric issues are related. Issues began in 2010 after the purchase of the car. Was taken to the dealer for electrical issue and they repaired lose cluster array. Other electric issues from 2011-2013: when turning left the downhill brake control indicator would light would come on and prevent the car being put into park, the headlights flicker when car is at a stop, driver side low beam headlight frequently burns out. December 2013-January 2014: all dash indicator lights malfunctioned (no warning lights/gauges, including fuel, speed, turn signals, low fuel indicator, etc. ). Dealer found the factory cluster array to be faulty. The dealer replaced the cluster with a new one. I am reporting the following: I was traveling 65mph and turned the cruise control off, the abs warning, downhill brake control, electronic stability control indicator and 4wd auto lock lights all illuminated. The car was operating normally. Today, all of these lights came, stayed on, then went off. Upon driving, the electronic stability control light came on and the car downshifted as I was driving. All other of indicator lights noted came back on. I am taking my car back to the dealer tomorrow. Many other kia owners are reporting almost identical issues. This most recent incident occurred when I was traveling at a high rate of speed and follows a serious of electrical issues I have had since I owned my car, new from the dealer. Something is wrong at the manufacturing level that needs to be addressed before someone is killed.
Two days ago the the check engine light illuminated (and stayed on) with intermittent electronic stability control off light illuminated; vehicle acceleration became sluggish and sometimes unresponsive. Vehicle codes using obdii pocketscan showed active and stored codes of p2138 (accelerator), p2127 (accelerator) and p2106 (limp mode). I made an appointment to take it to the dealership on 09/25/13. On the day of appointment the check engine light was not illuminated, but the dealership found stored codes in the computer of p2138, p2127 and p2106. The dealership refused to fix the vehicle even though it was still under warranty because there was not an active code (check engine light) on at the time of the appointment and the part was functioning properly for the time being. When asked if it was their policy or Kia Motors policy not to replace components that were failing, they stated it was Kia Motors policy. This is the second time the accelerator assembly has failed in this vehicle. The last failure was 08/23/12 at 27,545 miles. A vast majority of the complaints with NHTSA for this make, model and year vehicle involve these codes and this component. A serious accident, or loss of life should never be the determining factor when making a decision that a manufacturer should take action to correct a faulty component; by then it is much too late.

I was attempting to park my 2011 kia Sorento in my garage when the downhill assist and electronic stability control lights came on. My car would not shift beyond neutral. I had to shut off car while in 'drive' and turn back on, with multiple attempts, before I could get it to shift to park. Huge problem and has occurred four times the past two days! I'll be calling dealership first thing Monday morning.
Stability control and downhill assist light came on while driving. When vehicle was stopped, shifter would not go past neutral. In order to get past neutral, had to turn off engine and restart.
While driving the electronic stability control "off" (esc off) light and the check engine light came on at the same time. Upon taking it to the a mechanic, he informed me that the acelerator pedal position sensor was bad. I continued reading online, and have notice this has happened on many occasions. When this occurs the vehicle looses all power to make any nessecary corrective actions which could result in a accident. It also slows the car drastically while in motion, agian with the possibilty of causing an accident. ## VIN failed ##.
