Electronic Stability Control Problems of Kia Motor Sorento - part 1

I was driving on the highway when my steering wheel became really stiff like I lost power steering. I looked at my dash and had a check engine light, oil light, abs light, and esc off light illuminated. I pressed the gas to try to switch lanes as I was in the far left lane and needed to reach the shoulder to figure out what was going on, and the car would not accelerate. I turned my flashers on and was luckily able to make it to the shoulder without causing an accident. When I was on the shoulder I turned the key off and then back on. The check engine light and oil light went away, but the abs light and the esc light remained on. I started to drive back towards my house and felt the car idling roughly when at a stop. At home my husband disconnected the battery for a few minutes which solved the rough idling issue but the abs and esc lights are still on. I am now scared to drive my daughter to school and have the car shit off again. I have read similar reviews about this vehicle. Something needs to be done by kia to solve this. They recalled some vehicles for this issue but mine is not listed and clearly needs to be!.

Wheel speed sensor, abs sensor, and tpms sensor gave out at 56k. Got in one day and it said I was doing 140 while parked. Before I got to my destination, the abs, tcs, and tpms lights were on. Car was used and well taken care of. If everything wasn't built into the wheel hub, it would be a relatively easy fix. Instead I now have to drive my Sorento with no tcs, abs, or know if a tire is low/flat because a quoted cost of repair was close to 1200 dollars. Nobody has 1200 to get it fixed. After looking at online forums, it seems to be common with 2013-2015 Sorento to have anything abs/tcs related go south. Car drives like a dream, only wish it didn't take 2 months rent to feel safe.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when the air bags warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to 2 independent mechanics and was front driver side air bag s (all 6) were faulty. Hello, I am writing here since I did not receive for online access. My situation is related to my 2014 kia ​​sorento vehicle,VIN # 5xykt3a69eg511678 it is presenting failure indicators related to 4 recalls reported by the federal department of transportation to correct whether it is replaced or repaired. I contacted kia DE aguadilla puerto rico presenting the situation, they indicated that the vehicle was inspected for 2014 and that at that time it did not present any type of problems and that by the VIN #. My vehicle is obviously one of the units referred to by the recall and according to the information the vehicle that meets the specifications of the make, model and year must be inspected by certified kia mechanics. In the telephone conversation they indicated that the cost of the inspection starts at $ 65 depending on the type of problem. I had a conversation with another kia representative from kennedy explaining my situation with kia from aguadilla, being specific that the recall clearly indicates that in both 1 and 4 recalls, life can be at stake without the parts not being corrected in time. This and the previous messages related to my situation remain in record for when an accident occurs that involves both my family and third parties. I hope you can help me in this situation. The vehicle was sitting in the driveway approximately 30 to 45 minutes after having been driven. I had noticed nothing unusual when driving the car. I walked outside to the driveway and flames were visible inside the car. The car was unoccupied and was not running. The switch was turned off and the keys were removed. The doors were locked. I unlocked the doors and put the fire out with a pan of water. I let it cool off and cranked it and moved it out of the driveway to the side of the road. I removed the battery cable for safety reasons. The emergency flasher switch apparently had melted and the flashers would not turn off.

I just received a recall on my kia sorrento, it says it is due to a electrical anti lock break system. And followed by this letter my light does stay on for this part and other lights are on too do to this. I'm scared to death to drive this kia now. I think for this kind of problem, they should recall the entire vehical. And give me a brand new kia sorrento. Because this is life or death,and this is the only vehical I have to take care of my daughter. To school and doctor, or what ever her needs and mine are. I am a single mother on a fixed income and I'm very scared for mine and my child's life or who rides with us. So I think kia dealership should take my kia that's recalled and give me a new one for that. I travel alot everyday and I need a dependable vehical and shouldn't have to worry about my family's safety for using my kia.

Nhtsa site does not yet reflect that NHTSA recall #: 20v088 affects my vehicle. Your site, which issued that recall states that there are 0 unresolved recalls for my vehicle, but my vehicle has not yet been serviced for that recall. The NHTSA site needs to be updated regarding this recall dated March 25, 2020, with dealer service responses commencing April 10, 2020. Mailed recall notice received from kia. 10 months now I've gone with driving my 2016 kia Sorento by entering a screw driver in the override mode because I can't get out of park the moral way. I've taken this car into shawnee mission kia so many times I've lost count and they have not only refused to take care of this problem, indicating that bcm or body control moduler isn't covered under my warranty. Well let me say this they got over on me once already telling me I had to turn a claim in on the fuel pipe, and under carriage parts that I now realize was all a lie and should have been covered because kia knew about all those parts being dangerous and still stood by the �it had to me hitting something under car� . . It's now all surfaced via class action law suit and they still refuse to take car of my drive problem! they will not get me again and I am so frustrated that I just want them to take the car back! I'll never own another kia after this! previously purchased two brand new vehicles from them over 35,000 a car and they can't seem to find it reasonable to make car drive without a screw driver! fed up!.

Numerous times over the past couple of months, both the esc and dbc indicator lights will come on and stay on as I'm attempting to park the vehicle. This has prevented me from shifting the car into �park� after pulling into a parking space as I can't get it to shift beyond �neutral. � when this happens, I've had to shut the car off, and start it again. If the indicator lights go off after restarting, I can then shift the car into park. I brought the car into my local kia dealer this morning but they were unable to replicate the issue, and since they didn't have a technician on duty to look at it, I now have to return on Monday in the hope that they can figure out and fix this issue.

1 week after purchasing my 2017 kia Sorento fe awd from rochester tom kadlec kia in August 2019, I went to use my cruise control and it wouldn't set. "cruise" came on, but could not be set to my speed. Issue happened around 1-2 times a week on 45 mile commute on highway. Later on about a month later, I set my cruise control and once set, the speed began to climb. Starting at 65, and going up to 70 before I had to use my brakes to turn cruise control off as the buttons didn't work. On Dec 16th, my car showed a check engine light then stalled after putting it into drive from reverse. I turned the car off, then back on and drove "normally". Took it into the shop same day for an oil change and they read the codes, "p2106, p2110, p063 limp mode and throttle actuator control range" they also noted my vehicle has a timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket leak, and my battery tested at 12. 39volts and 339cca out of 640cca. Recommended battery replacement. My shop asked me to check the dealership for my warranty, and it's 5 years or 60,000 miles. I came into the shop at 62,334 miles. The kia dealership refused to look into the issue unless I paid 160 for their own inspection, and even then, it'd be highly unlikely they would do any goodwill repair. Replaced battery 12/26/19 after multiple failures and jumps to start, and finally wouldn't take a charge or jump.

My battery discharge light came on while driving within 5 minutes my car shut off while driving. I lost my power steering and brake system. The abs, traction control, door open lights, and several other warning lights came on all at the same time. I have replaced the alternator, the battery, and the fuse linkage. The light is still on and the car drives for a few minute then all the warning lights come on and the steering and breaking system go out and the car dies again. This as happened three times in the last four days. This happen on a state road and required two tow trucks to come out.

Vehicle has been well taken care of and is in excellent shape. Only 52,000 miles when the abs light, traction control, and downhill assist light came on at the same time. Won't go off as many other owners have attested to in forums all over the internet. Came on when the vehicle was moving on the highway and then went off. Came back on the next day several times and now is stuck on.

We experienced literally everything described on the last letter for the recall on our 2013 kia Sorento's ecu, including the vehicle shutting off in the middle of active intersections, highway, and normal driving operation(s). My wife and I own a vehicle (2013 kia Sorento), that is the subject of your "voluntary service campaign to update the engine control unit (ecu)". After the ecu unit was replaced we received the attached letter from kia that states he has a warranty on the engine for as long as we own the vehicle. Despite this letter, we've been told by kia USA corporate and lithia kia of anchorage that our vehicle is no longer covered by a warranty due to mileage. I expect someone in a higher level management to explain, asformerly requested. As of December 23, 2019, we had our vehicle towed to lithia kia of anchorage to attempt to have the vehicle diagnosed, and communicate with kia USA. Kia has decided to stop communicating with us and will not share any information with our law firm, per their own guidance. We are hoping this will complete this tedious method of vehicle repair(s). Kia needs to explain to us why it will not honor the warranty as stated in the letter. I am a retired disabled veteran and can be reached at any hour. Per my law firm's instruction(s), we have contacted and filed a claim through the state of alaska attorney general's office as well.

My check engine light came on the first time in August of 2019 . The dealership kept my kia Sorento for almost a month . 3 days after I got it back the check engine light came on again brought it back to dealership cost me another 155. 00. 4 days after that check engine light came on again for the same thing as the first time . When it would come on the acceleration would almost die I could only go 3 or 4 miles a hour . When I got it back the 3rd time I was good for about 2 months then in November of 2019 . The exact same thing happened again almost got hit this time . Brought it to another dealership cost me almost 400. 00. Then on my way out of town in December of 2019 . It happened again. Again almost got hit I was on the interstate halfway to my destination. This time had to rent a tow bar have someone drive 3 hours to get me and my kia . Then got it to a dealership in a diffrent state . They charged me for a part that was under warranty this time it cost me 509. 00. This is a safty issue plus kia will not refund me the money I spent on the warranty part.

Driving down road car would rattle when turning and it became hard to turn which almost caused an accident then I was driving going up hill when all of a sudden the car front wheel started spinning and a rattling sound became louder from the bottom the awd component suddenly failed tires would not engage. I took it in to a kia dealership and they refuse to diagnose the awd until an alignment is done and new tires are bought.

2nd complain for kia engine. Dec. 2017 my engine seized. I spent on 5grand for a rebuilt engine. Original complaint was electrical system did not give me any indication that there was an issue with my oil or engine. Driving down a main street where my car suddenly died. I had to pull off to the side of the road. I was able to restart it. Once it was restarted you can hear loud clicking from the engine. Fast forward to a year and 4 months later. Rebuilt engine on Feb 2018. . Car died again on 7/16/19. Once again no indication that there was a problem with my car. No oil light. I was driving on the highway when my car was not picking up on accelerating. I decided after work I put some oil into my engine. Schedule an appt with my mechanic to have my oil changed. The next day my car would not start. Had my mechanic tow my car and later tells me that it was my engine again. Stated he could find an engine for over 3grand for me. Unfortunately I do not have the money. I am now out of a car again with a newborn and trying to find rides to and from work. I just recently moved and cannot afford this. My VIN is not listed in the recalls and it should be. Kia has faulty engines and it is not just the one engine. Last engine failure was at 65000 miles. This time it is at 69000 miles. Why are my oil lights not coming on when there is low oil? why was this problem not fixed to begin with??? other problems with my car is my handle in the back seat pulled off (I am not that strong) electrical system (oil light not coming on, cruise control knocks out while driving, volume control for radio randomly calls contacts) kia is a lemon but I don't have the money to repair a 2nd and probably 3rd engine. I don't even trust my car with my kia dealership anymore because they are crooks and liars. I still have 10grand left to pay for this car!.

Vehicle was traveling at 65 mph and the esc light came on slowing the vehicle to 30 mph on the highway. We were almost hit from behind. This is happening 2-3 times a day. Vehicle has to be turned off and restarted every time. This is a life threatening incident waiting to happen. Taken to dealer no recall. Vehicle was in motion every time the esc/engine light came on.

Hello, I purchased a car from george taylor aka micheal booker. When I brought. The car to tge mechanic he said that the axcel struts and hubs were glued togteher and it was melting I called mr booker to let him know to please give me my miney back he refused to. He said he would get it fixed if I paid for the parts I paud for the parts and the car is still not fixxed I took him to court and won he wont pay me is past thirty day and im still out of a car and my money. . The abs, esc, and low tire pressure lights keep coming on. We have had the car fixed and the lights still come on. City kia told us to ignore the lights cause the sensor was bad. But that's not a good enough answer. Not only that but the headlights are dull and are hard to see at night, which I do a lot of night time driving. The image I am attaching is one I took after having repairs made on my car.

On 3/24/2019, our 2017 kia sorrento with 30k miles on completely shut down on the freeway. All lights went on and off, the car shook from side to side and the car shut down we lost steering and power brakes while we were going 70mph on the freeway. Luckily we were able to get to the side of the freeway. This happened 2 more times and then we had the car towed to a dealership for service. This could have easily caused a life threatening car accident and we no longer feel safe driving this kia. Now the service dealer is not able to replicate this incident which has happened to others we are reading about so then the dealership says, "no issue. " this car has been recalled for this exact issue (although not our VIN apparently). This is our first and last experience with the kia - very disappointing. We bought the top of the line kia because it was rated so highly for safety but now we are not even comfortable driving it. My children were in the car and lives could have been lost.

My car just immediately started slowing down and it was extremely hard to turn the steering wheel and the brakes would not let me brake. I almost wrecked my car. Also my camera just stopped working as well.

I was traveling on a hey, making a left turn onto a major hey, when my car would not excellerate. I was able to turn off the hey but my car would not go over four miles per hour. I had it towed to my machanic, he said the prongs broke off the thing that plugs into the computer, due to corrosion. So I had it towed to kia. They say I need a new computer & it will cost, $5000. 00. This should be a recall. Why can't they install a new plug & plug back into the computer? I'm being ripped off!.

Sparks coming from battery box, lights in dash go off and on can not acceleration and back axle is loose. I bought this used in dothan kia last yr. The car just went down past 2 months. Can't drive my expensive car.

I was driving my car going 50mph or 60mph and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car slowed down while I had my feet on the gas pedal all the way down to the floor causing me to have to pull over immediately when in traffic. I cut the car off and let it sit for a couple of mins and when I cut it back on it sounded like the car was idiled to high. I tried to driver again only for the car to jerk and seemed like it was driving itself only to slow down again to only 10mph with my feet all the way down on the gas pedal.

Door handles broke off, air bag light is turned on after replacing battery in car, and car won't pass smog because O2 sensor readiness and fuel system monitors won't show ready even though there is nothing wrong with the car and car is not pulling any error codes, both upstream and downstream O2 sensors were replaced, air filters changed, and fuel system was flushed and still did nothing to make the monitors show ready.

According to the obd code reader: code p0335, $07e8 generic. Crankshaft position sensor a circuit. Vehicle has trouble starting. The tachometer falls to 0 as opposed to sitting at a higher idle, and does not move when pressing foot on gas pedal when stationary or in motion. When in motion, there can be temporary loss of power, the inability to shift gears, and/or the vehicle shakes and rattles. This happens on city streets and highways, when in all types of traffic and when moving at constant speeds. When this situation happens, the car does not shift gears at all and must be restarted. This has caused dangerous lane changing to highway shoulders as well as difficult attempts back onto the roadways during rush hour.

Takata recall: vehicle is unstable when driving, it jumps when on motion. When driving in the night the head lights goes on and off, rear wiper is working non stop even when the car is off. This electric system dysfunction also affects the radio system.

All door handles have fallen off it's going to be $250. 00 to have one fixed. I am not able at this time to have a malfunction fixed! it is not vandalism of any kind! it's a defective part! the auto repair place said to look into recalls! I need this problem fixed! no car I have owned has ever had this problem but this one!.

My vehicle stalls in motion. Speed is inconsequential. Whether I'm on a city road or expressway, the check engine light flickers, and the engine stalls. It's very dangerous on the expressway. I have to coast in front of other speeding care to the shoulder. After a couple of minutes, the vehicle will start again and the check engine light turns off again. The situation repeats itself. Check engine code reflects faulty map sensor. It's been replaced twice. I continue paying for diagnoses, but the answer is the same. Map sensor, or we don't know. It continues to be a safety issue. Now the air bag light is illuminated, and I don't know if it's related or an airbag issue, and I can't continue paying for the kia dealer, or certified repair shops to charge me only to say "I'm not sure. " the buttons on my steering wheel are no longer working consistently. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. It's random. One repair facility said they can replace my main computer for about $2000, but they can't guarantee it will resolve the problem.
