Electronic Stability Control Problems of Kia Motor Sorento - part 2

I have had 4 situations where when my car is started, the dashboard warning lights vome on. On two of these 4 occasions, when I attepted to shift from park, I could not and the power locks started malfunctioning. All times the car was stationary. The dashboard reads check tpms system. The kia dealership cannot duplicate the problem so believe since they cannot duplicate the problem, there is no problem. O have provided them with the photos and video of the incidents.

When driving check engine light comes on an my vehicle will just stop or go into an idle mode. Then my vehicle will not accelerate. We were on a 65 mile an hour hwy and my family could have been killed it was very scary. Called kia dealership an they could care less.

My 2015 kia Sorento has metal flakes in the engine, burns 2 quarts of oil every 2ooo miles, it hesitates on acceleration, white exhaust smoke, burns a lot of gas, the engine check light and uvo warnings constantly turns on, it can catch on fire anytime, the engine can lock anytime. We need more kia recalls before lives are lost.

The break lights stopped working and the electronic stability control esc and downhill breaking control dhc lights came on. I was alerted to the break light issue when I was stopped by a fort worth police officer. I tried to fix the problem by checking the break light bulbs (they were good), the fuses were all good. I replaced the break switch with on bought from o'reilly auto parts. It did not fix the problem. I took it to mechanic who told me that the switch was bad, so I returned that switch and changed it again but still the lights didn't work. I took it to southwest kia in mesquite and was charge $312. 95 to fix a $19. 41 part: another break switch. I found this preposterous. As I was waiting in the waiting room I looked up kia recalls and I found that previous year model vehicles had been recalled for this issue. I believe that this is a recurring issue and that 2012 and other model years having this same issue should be included in the recall. . .

The electronical parts of the ignition switch went out at the same time the battery and the starter did . Then on top of my esc randomly coming on and every time this has happened it made it to where I couldn't go above 5 miles have to turn the car off and then restart it multiple times just so I can dive home this has been happening since I have had he vehicle November 2016.

2015 kia sorrento sxl engine check light and vehicle verbal warning that my truck has a serious engine problem that needs to be checked. I took my truck to the dealership service three times in one week to research and repair the engine issue. I paid over $300 for repair. I was told my engine has metal flakes and it's nothing the dealership service can do to repair it. I was told to live with the engine check light basically. My engine has low take off speed when getting on the highway and it runs rough.

After using cruise control for approx. 4 hours, the computer in our car suddenly shut off the cruise control on its own and the parking break light illuminated on our dash panel. Brake however was not engaged. Another amber colored warning light was illuminated but I can't recall what it said. We pulled over, turned car off and when we started it back up, the brake light was no longer on and we were able to resume using cruise control. There was a previous incident where the cruise control deactivated itself while driving but not sudden stops initiated it or warning lights came on when this happened.

Went to turn on the car the car had accelerated while in park. From there the same that the electrical part in the car stop working. The tire sensor was also on the engine sensor was also on major issues.

I started my 2008 kia Sorento ex when I put it in reverse all of a sudden it makes a loud bump noise and with pressure on the brakes it jumps hard in reverse I look and see my esc light came on and I could not accelerate, my vehicle in fact slowed down terribly. I have noticed that if I shut my car off then turn it back on sometimes this will take care of the problem for a short time. It looks like this has happened 3 times during hot days. This is very dangerous when driving with my kids in the backseat. If my car slows while on the highway I could end up causing quite an accident not to mention hurting myself or my family that is in the vehicle. Mileage on my vehicle at the time was approximately 88000 miles.

Pulls to 1 direction when braking and driving. Sounds of axel or suspension in motion started on city streets now on highway.

My mechanic said my engine seized on me. I was driving on a highway which turns into a city street and the car stopped on me and when I turned the steering wheel right to get off of the busy street it was difficult to turn. I then tried to start the engine, all the lights came on but there was no noise when I turned the key. Smoke started coming out of the engine on the passenger side. I had to get the car towed and the mechanic said the engine seized on me. There were no warning signs. I called kia but they said my car does not qualify for a recall because it is not a gdi model, even though it falls into the same year for the engine recall. I called kia to see how much it would cost to get the engine replaced and was told they discontinued my engine model. So they told me my best bet would be to search for a used engine in a junk yard.

I was readind down bearess Ave in tampa fla ias I was riding my truck went into flames as soon as I left my home at the time not even a half miles the hilss county sheriff did let the hood up attempted to put the fire out the fire department my insurance did cover cause I ihad pip the tow truck came and put. Thefire out the cause was elactric battery burned up cables etc.

The car is moving proceeds to come to a crawl and stop I have a video and the dealership is clueless. This has happened multiple times.

Yesterday I was approaching a yellow light. The light changed to red as I was coming to a complete stop. I was at a complete stop waiting for the light to change so I could make a left turn. Suddenly the truck shut off completely. I then put my foot on the brake and put the truck in park so I could try to restart it. The truck restarted with no problems. This is the second incidence of the truck shutting off completely. The first occurrence was in January or February of this year. I had entered a left turning lane and was at a complete stop waiting to turn left when the truck shut off completely. I again placed my foot on the brake and placed the truck in park. I was then able to restart the truck. I reported the first incident to nalley kia stonecrest in lithonia GA when I was at my service appointment. They said they could not find anything wrong with the truck. I have also reported this most recent incident to them so they look into it at my upcoming service appointment on October 14th 2017.

Front brakes locked up while turning onto the highway vehicle was in motion, had to shut off the automatic skid control to unlock the brakes to drive the vehicle.

Esc off light comes on and sends the transmission into a "limp" mode. This causes extreme loss of acceleration. Dealership replaced the abs control module, but it did not fix the problem. Dealership can not figure out why the vehicle is doing this.

Tl-the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the abs warning light along with the stability control and down hill traction warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to riverchase kia 2200 us-31, pelham, al 35124 (205) 987-6518, where it was diagnosed with a defective module that needs replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the contact being informed by the dealer that there was a recall but the recall was expired. The contact stated that the dealer did not give him the recall information. The contact also stated that the dealer informed him that in may of 2017 when his vehicle was at the dealer for an oil change, thy checked a module that controls the warning lights but the module was ok and covered it in silicon. The contact stated that he was informed that he would have to pay for the repairs. The contact stated that was also told that a part in the rear drum needed replacement along with the module. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Aa.

I was in an auto accident 8/18/17 tossed back and forth like a rag doll my air bag didn't deploy on impact until the 4th time and I was knock out unconscious. Don't recall my seat belt worked I recall being tossed back and forth back and forth and took my last breath. This is my 3 time doing this. It was moving I was hit in an accident.

For several months now, the dashboard warning lights have come on, usually four at a time as I'm driving. It seems to happen most often when it's raining. I had the kia dealer in las cruces, nm try to determine the problem when I had the car in for a couple recalls about two years ago. They could not determine the cause of the problem. About 3 months ago I had a shop with a aaa master mechanic try to determine the problem and they also could not determine the reason the warning lights were coming on. They could not find a short in the wiring that I thought might be the cause. The lights eventually go off, usually after the car has not been driven for several hours or overnight. I'm concerned that, although I've not experienced significant problems when the dash warning lights come on, could a possible real safety issue occur if one of the systems indicated by the lights actually malfunction? for a while when the lights came on, the car's steering seemed to be effected--on windy curvy roads the car would definitely over steer on curves, as though someone else were in control. I would appreciate any information you might have on similar problems and how they were corrected. Thank you.

The wipers and headlights would randomly come in and out of working conditions. You don't know when wipers are working until it starts raining so it was very dangerous. We had to pull over and either wait for the rain to stop or wait until the wipers started working again. The backup camera also comes in and out. You can see the screen warning you to be careful but the camera itself is absent. The door handle fell off onto the floor with no prior warning. No one hit it or anything. We opened the backseat in front of our home then drove to the airport and tried to open it again and it fell off onto the ground. The top of the door handle and parts inside that make the handle work. And now most recently our ac is not working properly coming in and out of proper function, nor are our headlights working again. You don't know when headlights are working until you need them so we used fog lights instead as evening just set and we couldn't wait for the sun to come out to continue driving. For a brand new car there are many issues with this car, otherwise we love it and the way it drives and brakes so well.

My rearview camera works when it wants to. (it doesnt work more than it actually works). The controls on the steering wheel are scrambled ex. I pree the volume up or down, and the voice command activates, I can't even mute through the buttons etc. The electrical problem also causes the tail lights to work/not work and constantly have to change the bulbs because of the burnout. I've been pulled over several times for this. The other issue is that now the airbag light has come on, so I don't know if that's a general malfunction or a result of the electrical problem. Also, the a/c doesnt work.

While driving the abs, traction control, and down hill break assist light began to come on normal highway driving. Would stop and restart the car the lights would go off, after a few driving miles the ligjts came back on and stayed. Now the break warning light will illuminate sometimes. I owner vehicle 52,000 thousands on vehicle. All service up to date and performed by kia dealership.

Traction control - our vehicle has sustained two incidents involving the traction control system. The first incident involved the traction control light on the dash illuminated intermittently while the vehicle was moving. The vehicle was turned off then back on the light would go off. The dealership evaluated the problem but could not duplicate the incident. Several months later, the vehicle was in motion at approximately 25-30 mph, in a residential neighborhood, in a moderate right hand turn, and the traction light came on during the turn. The vehicle became uncontrollable when the vehicle steered towards the right and forced us to strike a curb causing steering and wheel damage. The vehicle was take again to the dealership and the manufacturer was contacted. We were told the steering sensor had failed but they could not determine whether this occurred as a result of the collision or if it failed and caused the collision. The vehicle has been at the kia dealership for seven days, the engineering department responded to attempt to duplicate the problem and download data from the vehicle's computer but we have not heard the status as of the 8th day. We are concerned for obvious reasons and feel there's an issue affecting the traction control system which affects the steering. Now that a collision has resulted in the failure of the system, it has been very difficult to gather information from kia and feel there may be other incidents that have been overlooked as simple collisions. No documentation has been provided by the dealership relative to either incident at this time.

The contact owns a 2009 kia Sorento. While reversing the vehicle, the contact depressed the brake pedal to shift the gear into drive and the esc sensor illuminated. Previously, the esc indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled while turning a corner. The vehicle restarted on the first attempt; however, the acceleration was very slow. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (kia of chattanooga located at 2136 chapman rd, chattanooga, TN, 37421) where it was diagnosed that the esc needed to be reset and or replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,900.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the esc and the check engine warning lights illuminated and the massage "limp home" would display before the vehicle's speed would suddenly reduce to approximately 15 mph. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer grand kia of denver CO. The kia Sorento 2016 my family and were driving and the car went into "limp mode" on a busy street. We nearly has an accident. It was towed to the dealer. The dealer did not know why it occurred. They said they secured the wiring and returned the car to us. Approximately a week later the car went into "limp mode" again on another busy road again putting us in danger of having an accident. It was towed to the dealer. They said that they then replaced the throttle. We are not confident it will not occur again.

Kia Sorento 2011 esc dbs lights on dashboard and either cannot get out of park or when trying to shut vehicle down will get stuck in between neutral and drive, I shut down car but obviously cannot take keys out, wait a few minutes restart in neutral and sometimes I can get it in or out of park. On two seperate occasions approximately 2 months apart on start up and initial drive the engine suddenly lost all power, the check engine light came on and the esc off light came on. Pulled vehicle to curb, shut off engine, waited several minutes to one hour, restarted engine and had full power. . Check engine light remains on for several start ups then resets itself. This sudden loss of power at highway speeds could be devastating and potentially lead to fatalities.

My esc light will come on and my car will lose all power,step on gas and nothing happens, have to pull over, stop engine and restart, then car runs normal, this seems to be very dangerous if happens on freeway.

Check engine and esc light came on while driving down the interstate. Truck immediately loses power.

Can not move shifter out of park when car is started. Can not shift car out of selected gear when motor is running. Esc lite is illuminated on dashboard and brake lites do not function when these defects occur. Symptons experienced are the same as described in NHTSA campaign 13v114000. Kia dealer replaced brake lite switch-says SUV does not fall within population of vehicles identified under kia sc098 recall. I am of the opinion my SUV should have been covered under this kia recall and I should have not been charged for the repairs. My 2012 SUV should be included in NHTSA campaign 13v114000 / kia sc098.

I was driving 70 mph down highway when car shutdown and sterling locked, unable to control vehicle. Come to find out next few days it was the accelator that caused it. I had no control and almost got killed by a 18 wheeler driving in next lane.
