general problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Soul

Headlights seem to flicker off and on while using turn signals. Dash lights will brighten during the incident as well.

The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at night at 45–50 mph, the headlights became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull over, and the headlights return to operation but were flickering. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the connectors had melted and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA id number: 10170778 (exterior lighting). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

Since September 2015 the car headlamps malfunctioned. I made several trips to the dealer and was told they are not able to duplicate my complaint. Presently while driving the headlights will go off and by bumping the multi-function light switch, they would come back on. Please see attached letter & service detail that was sent to kia without resolution.

My headlights flicker or shut off intermittently when driving at night. Sometimes it seems to be associated with using my turn signal. Sometimes it seems to be associated with going from dim to bright headlights. I took my car to the dealer who said that kia has an extended warranty to cover this repair. But when the dealer's service department could not reproduce the situation in the shop, then said kia would not pay for the repair. I contacted kia consumer affairs and was given a case number (14989817). After two weeks I finally was contacted and the policy was repeated by kia. I explained that the problem was intermittent but they would not do anything on their end because the dealer could not diagnose the issue in shop.

Driver's side headlight flickering on and off at times. Inspected wiring and it looks like the harness socket is burning out. It looks like this is a common problem with this car and can prove to be a safety issue if your lights go out while driving.

2014 kia Soul: noticed some pretty dim headlights. In checking them out the lens over the headlight has orange peal cracking. On the inside. Took it to kia dealer where I bought it with a 10 year bumper to bumper insurance policy. They told me it is not covered. To go ahead and call myself and find out. Still waiting for an answer. This is a definite safety issue. I only have 35,112 miles on it. Not happy. . .

My dash lights would flash bright and dim randomly while driving at first. A few weeks later my headlights would flicker from high beam to low beam and dash lights would still flicker. Now about a month into this my headlights still flicker but they have even turned off all while driving and I was told my brake lights go off as well ,dash lights still flicker and my a/c will not work/blow randomly so it seems to be involving electrical .

In the past year from Feb last year till today I have bought 2 set of lightbulbs. The 1st set lasted a year the 2nd set I bought 2/1/21 and it just burnt out again. I am not buying cheap bulbs either.

The vehicle had a strange smell ever since we got it a few years back. Earlier in the month, the headlight and dashlight would flicker with the turn signal. We looked it up and set up an apppointment with a local kia dealership for recall on this issue. Then this week, the engine suddenly quit while the car was parked. The vehicle wouldn't start at all. Kia was notified and they said that there was another recall on engine sc200 on this vehicle that was just announced earlier this year. Online lookup also revealed that the smell issue can be from burning oil or a leak into catalytic converter. Other kia cars from the same years have also said to have had these issues. Then an obd ii check showed the codes 7e8 and 7e9 which has been noted online by other customers as engine problem recall for which kia has replaced their engine free of charge.

The contact stated that while activating the high-beam headlights, the driver’s side high-beam headlight failed to illuminate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who determined that the driver’s and passenger’s side headlight assemblies had overheated and melted. The headlight assemblies and light bulbs were replaced but the failure eventually reoccurred. The contact stated that the light bulbs and headlight assemblies were replaced on several occasions. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

It does this stationary and in motion lights go off and sometimes flicker when turning of turning signals.

Problem: multifunctional switch issue (lights flicker while I'm driving at night and turn off randomly!) car: kia Soul 2014 no apparent recall. There should be a recall on this since this is a major consumer safety issue.

At acceleration suddenly bogged out. Turns out to be the 02 sensor and catalytic converter over heated, burnt out newly replaced spark plugs. This is the second set of O2 sensors replaced. Master mechanic says all due over heating from exhaust.

As I was driving down the highway, "55 mph" speed limit was 60 mph my acceleration went out on my car and I couldn't go any faster then 20/25mph. My car started to sound like a weed eater and I never got a single light for something being wrong. As I pulled over to the side of the road my cars engine started to make a knocking sound. I had it towed to a shop close to were I live and they told me that the engine had pieces of metal flakes in it and that it was locked. They also said that it was 3. 5 quarts low of oil but I just had the oil change and had about 3,500 miles left before I needed my next oil change. I'm writing on here because I called kia and they told me that my 2. 0 engine didn't have a recall on it, but as I research I continue to find many people who have a 2. 0 engine having the same issue of the recall on the 1. 6 engines.

I have a 2014 kia Soul. I am having an issue with the exterior lights. While driving, whether on highway doing 70 mph or in the city doing 10 to 45 mph. The lights go out for 30 seconds will flick back on and do this repeatedly several times. No check engine or other lights are illuminated. It happens more often when using my blinker signals. This has become dangerous. Driving with my newborn baby in car and this happened almost causing a severe accident. I have been pulled over as well due to this issue. It has gotten to the point I do not feel safe driving at night time which causes several issues. Why is there no recall on this issue? this started after taking my vehicle in to fix two recalls a few months ago and has continued.

When driving with head lights on for a while lights will go off and on then off for a while until light cool down.

I was driving along the highway when I heard a clicking noise. After the noise, my car started to lose acceleration. No matter how hard I pressed the pedal, it just wouldn't go above 5mph and began making a loud noise. Had it checked out and it was determined to be the catalytic converter.

Kia Soul 2014 vehicle head lights flick and burn out continuously and beam lights burn out, even after replacing bulbs.

Takata recall. . Drivers side low beam keeps going out. Previously it would be out one day then when I would start my car it would come back on. In the picture both lights are working but 5 mins before only the passenger side was working. This has been an going issue for about 2 years now. Sometimes I had to replace the bulb after it being out for over a week but the bulb was not blown.

Rarely drive at night but had to. The exterior front lights flickered and momentarily went off twice. There was a deep ditch extended to about 1/2 a lane with the other lane closed. If the lights remained off, wouldn't have driven the car. Same night - the usb port stopped working but came on again next morning. This is beyond dangerous and further measures will be taken if it's not resolved by kia.

When headlamps are in automatic mode, they will sometimes flicker on/off, or turn off completely until headlamp controls are manipulated (by turning headlamp power switch dial back and forth or by pulling/pushing low/high beam control). This is exacerbated by driving on an unstable road (I. E. A road with potholes or bumps), when actuating signal light controls, and when stopping. This happens mostly when the vehicle is going at speeds over 40 mph, but has happened in city streets at velocities as low as 5 mph. This has happened several times over the course of the last months, beginning around August 2018.

2014 kia Soul headlamps will randomly shut off and on while driving vehicle. When driving on country roads with no street lighting at night we must stop and play with the lights to get them to function properly. It is at the point where we can't drive the vehicle safely at night to avoid accidents. This has been happening for several weeks now even though I reported it as of 07/02/2018.

While driving our 2015 kia Soul home at night on back country roads, the lights started flashing. Then they completely shut off. It continued to do this the whole drive home. This made a very unsafe drive home for our daughter. She had to pull over and call for us to come get her.

Knocking noises for long time. Scraping noise. Lighting dim and flases. Noise tunnel causing auditory hallucinations. Burning smell. Leaking oil.

Head lights go out at night and daytime when in motion at least 5 times and have stayed out for as long as 20 seconds. Switch is in the on position. Has happened when in motion, turning with signal on, when setting still in traffic, in motion when taken to the dealer, sitting still in dealer service writing area. Green light on dash display sometimes goes out and sometimes stays on even when the lights go off. Lights were malfunctioning the first time I took it to the dealer--head lights were off, parking lights were on and switch was in the on position--the problem could not be reproduced when connected to diagnostic equipment. Dealer will not fix until problem is detected by diagnostic equip. Battery has also been rundown when parked for as short a period as 3 1/2 days when nothing has been left plugged in.

Flickering lights on off while driving at night turn signal triggers it and does it randomly.

Pretty much since I have had vehicle car jerks at time, check engine light comes on at times,the fuel needle drops up and down to empty even when I just filled it up. And rang number turns to lines and flashes like car fuel is empty even though it is full. Also left head light is burnt I replaced the bulb but it didn't fix issue. So I think the whole head lamp needs to be replaced. This was purchased like this. It seems there might be a emissions issue.

I had an emergency and tried at night to unlock electric doors for my passengers and I. Upon attempting to manage the emergency and unlock the door for my passengers to exit the vehicle, I was greatly delayed because the "unlock light is non functioning" and can't be seen in the dark. This is a safety problem & I believe it warrants a recall because the dealer refuses to acknowledge it as a problem that needs correcting.
