general problems of the 2015 Kia Motor Soul - part 1

Code p1326 popped up - my mechanic replaced the p1326 knock sensor for the kia. Code p1326 popped up 2nd time - replaced sensor again. Code p1326 popped up and now there is some knocking. Check engine light flashing - then went off for a while after part was replaced, and then back on again, and off again and back on. There are many kias listed for recall with this code, same year and model. Yet mine is not under recall. It says to reach out and ask for an ecu update and that kia should cover an extended warranty for this known issue.

While my 80 yr old dad and 18 yr old daughter were driving on the highway to get to my uncle’s funeral. My dad had his cruise on, when he and my daughter started noticing a strange sound almost a knocking sound. But the next hill when the car went to go up the incline it kept reducing in speed. My dad took the cruise off and at that point had no power to keep traveling. So August 2nd the car threw a rod. My dad had a warranty plus an extended warranty with the company gwc. They missed my uncle funeral, sat on the side of the highway for an hour before the tow truck got there. A local Dodge dealership has gotten the vehicle and have done a complete inspection. The safety of my dad and daughter were at risk do to the car malfunctioning on the highway. As well as them sitting on the side of highway. And now the stress of all of this on my dad’s health has started causing him to not be able to eat, if he does eat he will throw it up. His mental health is declining due to kia and gwc denied to fix the car now. My dad has had to pay for towing, a u-haul res talk to get home, the Dodge dealership has gotten to do full inspection. Unknown if any warning lights or messages before hand. He bought the car with cash and it had 70,177 miles on it, when rod blew it had 78,784. He bought it used from a local dealership on or about sept 16th 2022. Extended warranty paid for was 36 months. 1month shy of the extended warranty expiring.

High temperatures catalytic converter code went on the car was stalling on the highway as soon as I hit 60 mph as I was getting on the car will not accelerate like if the engine was going to come out which also caused my car to overheat which was smelling like burnt oil called the dealer regarding this issue and compared to the recalls on the other kia which is exactly what's happening to my car.

Car keeps dying as going down the road. Almost completely dies then kicks back in. Have had it in several times always says something differant. Has around 78000 miles. Bought it new in 2015 have had it several times for same issue. Have almost gotten in wrecks due to it dying out of the blue!!!.

I was driving my 2015 kia Soul along a 4 lane highway when the check engine light came on and begun to flash. The kia began to lose about 5 mph off and then return to the previous rate of speed a few minutes later. Then it would repeat the cycle. As the vehicle lost the engine power, the steering also became very tight as if the power steering was also malfunctioning. I could also hear a slight tapping sound, as the driver side window was open just a few inches. Since I had my mother whom is ailing with dementia and heart problems, I tried to remain calm and undisturbed by these issues. As soon as I arrived at the closest auto parts store that offered diagnostic readings (o'reilys), I asked them to see what codes the vehicle was throwing. The codes were p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1) and p1326 knock signal range/performance. I have seen these codes listed as recalls for other 2015 kia Souls, but for some reason my VIN is not listed amongst those. So how do I get this repaired?? this car is extremely important and sentimental to me, as it was the vehicle my son drove before he passed away at [xxx]. Please, please help me keep this kia running. Purchased vehicle on 10/12/2024 was driving it home the car started knocking, and loosing acceleration on freeway. The car was smelling of very volatile gas fumes. I put some gas in car for the trip home . Drove about 15-18 miles had to pullover into the v shape of the merging section of a on ramp,. Could not make it to the emergency lane on the freeway. Used family members road side assistance to get car home, took it to the kia dealer (car pros moreno valley) towed to them because they said had to get a appt,. Which they set up for today 10/25/2024. The intake person was letting us know it was just a update as if the fuel leak and oil leak was not a part of the recall and it would cost us 9000-13,000 to fix the engine plus the diagnosis of 240. 00 getting the run around already for a dangerous situation. The car has caught fire for other owners, of the same year and make. The customer care person stated to me it is just a oil pan leak, as if the car is safe and anything else is our problem. The car reeks of fumes and could not be safe to drive. They were questioning us about the recall as to why it was not done? we told him we were not the owners we dont know if they got the notices? no, unknown only owned the car 0n 10/12/24 for 30 minutes before this started warning lights appeared on dash after knocking and acceleration went out. Car was towed and left at kia dealer today. He was talking to us as if it was our fault the car was dangerous and could blow up while driving!!!.

P0420 code indicated during emissions test. Vehicle shut off after stopping and acceleration after stopping. Hesitates when trying to restart vehicle. Contact kia manufacturer about engine and p0420 code, however no help was given.

It started in September 2022 when my kia Soul started spuddering and slowing down quickly while driving on the interstate. Drove it on limp to the closest mechanic shop. They recommended a complete engine replacement, which would cost more than the vehicle was worth. Had it towed to a kia dealership for their diagnosis. They came back and said it was a clogged catalytic converter. Replacing it fixed the car. Now to June 2024 and car slowed down drastically while on the highway, with my wife and newborn child in the car. I had it towed to kia again and they diagnosed it as a total engine failure with a clogged catalytic converter again (catalytic converter only lasted 1. 5 years!). Again, the replacement cost is more than the value of the car. I think they knew of the issue in 2022 or failed to diagnose the actual problem and put my family at risk.

Unknown . Engine or fuel mishap car caught on fire as I was driving down the hwy with my 3 kids.

I own a 2015 kia Soul affected by recall sc200, which addresses engine compartment fires due to oil/fuel leaks and potential engine damage. My vehicle experienced engine halts at high speeds, and peak kia in littleton, CO, discovered a leaking valve cover gasket and pcv valve. Despite these issues being relevant to the recall, kia and the dealership refuse comprehensive testing or repairs under the recall. The dealership initially suggested engine replacement but later claimed only a knock sensor detection system (ksds) update and lockup test were required. They refuse to conduct oil analysis, leak-down tests, or endoscopic inspections to rule out systemic issues or internal engine damage. The vehicle has been with the dealership for five weeks. Kia's customer service, including a case manager named courtney, promised to review the case but failed to follow up. The district parts & services manager, jacob, instructed the dealership to close my request without further testing and refuses to open a validation case or respond to emails. Kia customer support has promised callbacks for three weeks but has not returned them. The dealership is attempting to charge for an inspection fee and repeat systemic repairs despite these being likely covered under the recall. They have not addressed relevant technical service bulletins (tsbs) eng222 and fue053, which provide guidance for diagnosing and repairing oil consumption and leak issues. I believe kia and the dealership are not complying with the full scope of the sc200 recall, which mandates comprehensive inspections and repairs for any oil leaks. They are using circular logic to avoid performing necessary tests and repairs, potentially putting my safety at risk and leaving me vulnerable to future engine failure. I request NHTSA's intervention to ensure kia and the dealership comply with the recall requirements, perform all necessary testing and repairs, and address the potential systemic issues with my vehicle's engine.

My catalytic converter failed just under 4 years after getting the sc176 recall done in July 2020. I believe it's possible there was a step missed in the replacement of my catalytic converter related to the recall, specifically the catalytic overheating protection engine control unit logic that may have caused the converter to fail. I do not detect that on the attached receipt from the repair that was done for the recall. Although there were no safety issues that happened, after reading the recall and what can happen as a result of the catalytic converter failing, I am concerned for my safety if I drive it any longer in that condition. The problem has been diagnosed by my local kia dealership on Friday 4/19/24 and that is where the car is presently. I have attached the inspection report and the cost to fix it. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other the kia dealership. There was a ticking sound when I accelerated that wasn't there before on 4/3. The service engine light came on Thursday 4/4 when I was getting my routine oil changed. I changed the pcv valve and the light went off until approximately 4/17 and then I called the dealership to schedule bringing it in for the diagnosis which was 4/19. This is the only information I have at this time. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Car just started jerking and turning off while driving showing the engine light and oil light.

Car has an heavy gas smell like when the car is started ,has to crank up and car shakes when it’s started steering is off and etc.

For the past two years my 2015 kia Soul has been rapidly burning through oil. I’m having to get full oil changes every 2 months with me also adding additional top offs every few weeks. I’ve been getting the run around from kia about this issue. I brought it in two years ago for an engine recall. The dealership in east meadow long island was a complete joke. They charged me a few because my check engine light was on, the reason I was there! they said my engine was fine and nothing was related to the recall. Lately I have been noticing a stalling when going up a hill and the car has trouble accelerating over 40mph. It stalled the other day while I was trying to merge on the highway. I am so sick of this car and will likely sell it at a loss. Currently has 99,000 miles on it.

I believe the recalls for the ‘engine’ and the ‘engine and engine cooling: exhaust system: emission control: catalytic convertor’ apply to the continuouse issue I’ve been having with my car. I was told it’s not affected but I believe it is. I have an oil leak somehow but its not leaking outside the car, there are no oil stains in the driveway. When the oil starts to get just a little low the car starts wanting to stall and doesn’t resolve when oil is put in . Days of not driving seems to resolve it. There have been burning smells and white smoke. This has been happening frequently for years and we get regular oil changes at the kia dealership. I’m afraid if one of the recalls is actually the cause that we could be affected by it while we’re being told our VIN isn’t included in the recall.

My engine has had many issues stemming from a bad engine kia of irvine has avoided fixing they have charged for fixes under warranty and ignored code p0420 since 2018. After much push catalytic engine was replaced replaced in 2021. I had noticed burning smell from engine along with low oil but was denied an oil consumption and pushed out of extended warranty with minor fixes. Told repeatedly it was all wear and tear. Car is currently in shop with 157000 miles after going limp on the freeway luckily with slow traffic. After being “fixed” on Tuesday 9/05/23 for a bad crank shaft sensor I drove it to pep boys straight out of the shop for scan and found abs issue 1631 transmission failure and a failed emissions warning not fixed. Took car back right no explanation and asked that I leave my car once again. I have called to no communication from the shop and now I have just been informed they misplaced my key and have not yet inspected it.

Nhtsa recall for reference number 19v120000. Engine and engine cooling exhaust system: emission control: catalytic convertor and my kia Soul 2015 did not have this changed out. Kia is saying that is is not a recall but this issue is a recall because if my car blows up and some one dies I am sueing kia for this issue/.

Vehicle recalled by kia for potential for short and resultant fire from battery pack. Recall performed, traction battery found to be defective. Vehicle taken and held by kia for six months while awaiting back-ordered replacement traction pack. Advised by kia staff no timeline for pack due to shortage of parts. After 6 months vehicle returned with 'software update' because battery is unavailable and remains backordered.

Got an engine catalytic converter check engine light.

Earlier last year, we had suddenly had an issue with the kia Soul. We received a check engine light and noticed a loud clicking noise as the vehicle began accelerating and noticed the vehicle had difficulty accelrating. We left the vehicle parked and then attempted to change the battery and oil to see if either were a contributing factor. When we noticed no improvement upon turning on the car, we took the vehicle to a licensed dealership: arapahoe kia to check the vehicle to diagnose the issue and help determine if this was covered under warranty. On our drive (which was about 2 miles from where we had left the car, the engine seized so we had the vehicle towed there. Once we got the diag back, they told us the code but wanted service records to honor the warranty from all oil changes in all states for the past 5 years or pay full cost of vehicle. No mention was made of the prior repaired recalls or determination if the cause could have been because of the unprepared recall that clearly states the syptoms and result being the exact problem we experienced. A few months later when we received notification from a different licensed dealer we had the unrepaired recall (in automated texts and emails), we called back arapahoe kia who still had the car, and they again stated service records would be needed to honor the NHTSA recall and also admitted they didn’t attempt to identify if the engine issue we had was caused by the unrepaired recall, as they only looked at the code and visual inspection of oil sludge, and treated it like a warranty claim to deny and did not validate the recall as the cause. But they still have refused to actually inspect the recall concern to determine if the engine trouble was caused by it and repair it as obligated if it was. Instead they keep asking us to pay for the full engine without validating root cause under the NHTSA recall.

My 2015 kia Soul engine light won't stay off so I'm trying to see if it's under warranty or recall so I can get it fixed or trade it in. Please somebody contact as soon as possible. 803 524 9625 eric walton is my name.

Cylinder misfire on 1 and 2. Loss of compression on one cylinder. Loss of power, frequent oil additions. Engine shuttering/stalling. Engine warning light alternating solid/flashing. Dangerous to drive due to unpredictable stalling, loss of power/acceleration. Local kia dealer claimed couldn't find a problem after a week, told to replace catalytic converter. Local muffler shop said cannot replace catalytic converter until engine issue(s) addressed. Appears to be a common problem that no one wishes to address, leaving me at a loss as to what to do.

My 2015 kia Soul recently went out of service. One day last month my car randomly started stalling and shaking to the point of barely being drivable. There were no signs or dashboard lights. Thursday, September 15th, 2022, I took my car to a local repair shop and they ran a diagnostic that came back as a bad catalytic converter on Friday, September 16th, 2022. According to the mechanic, the converter nearest the engine had broken off and pieces of it had gotten into my engine and fuel line resulting in a need for a new converter and a complete engine flush. The mechanic pulled up a recall and suggested that the car be taken to the dealership as this particular issue should have been covered under that recall. He suggested that I no longer drive the car prior to getting it repaired for my and my children's safety as my engine could have blown up at any time and caught fire. Also on Friday, September 16th, 2022, I had the vehicle towed to the kia dealership in napleton mid rivers as advised by the mechanic. The car was towed to the dealership where I made them aware of the issue and I was advised they would have to perform a second diagnostic to confirm. Monday, September 19, 2022, I get a text message from dennis gearhart, a service advisor for kia - who informs me that their diagnostic came back showing that I need a replacement catalytic converter, oil change, and minor tune-up. Dennis advised me that the repair would cost over $2800 and would not be covered under the recall because I'm no longer under warranty and the recall was marked as done. Upon further questioning - I was advised that the service advisor in may 2019 did not perform a replacement under the recall because it "didn't need it" yet here I am less than 7 years after getting a new engine from kia and I'm being told to rectify an issue they were responsible for fixing and yet refuse to mitigate. They placed my and my family's life in danger due to the negligence of their staff!.

My wife has a 2015 kia Soul that developed a gasoline leak in the engine compartment. The kia dealer said some of their other models have been recalled due to gas leaks and fires but this model has not. This model has the same engine and obviously has the same issue as the kia model that was recalled. We were very lucky that her car did not catch fire or explode and that I was able to see the problem after she drove the car a short way. The fuel line was leaking gas where it connects to the high pressure pump on top of the engine and from the hose just behind the engine.

Engine light and abs light always on, kia hasnt explained this issue or expressed concern about it. . Engine randomly started leaking oil, blowing out white smoke, stalling out upon accelerating causing safety issue in traffic. Kia has had car for 2 weeks now with no answers to resolve. Being told the recall issue is "fine" I use my car for work and this unresolved issue is affecting my livelihood. This all began on 4-29-22 and am now being asked to pay for further testing for diagnostic purposes. Told there are no loaner vehicles and to rent one at my own expense.

Now when I just went to check my engine oil it smelled of gas and was starting to get pretty low. I just checked it 2 weeks ago and it was fine. No one has ever inspected the vehicle and yes it is very available for inspection. Still my fuel consumption is terrible and now my oil is low low with a gas smell to it. No warning lights have ever came on and it seems to drive fine.

At busy intersection was stopped for red light. When light turned green put foot on gas and car would not move more then 5 miles per hour. No warning lights on dashboard. Was able to get to side of road. Has car towed to mechanic close by, they said both catalytic converter would have to be replaced $4,700. Strange to have this kind of damage fir car under75,000 miles. Looked up recalls and kia had one fir that year of car. Recall number: sc176 had car towed to closest kia dealer in gladstone oregon. They said the engine showed damage and would $8,700 to fix. Said recall or the warranty would not cover cost. Warranty for up to #100,000 and recall states recall could cause engine damage.

After reading in my instructions manuel about what might be causing my fuel consumption to be way to high I learned that the gas cap was suppose to click which it has not since we got the vehicle in December of 2021so I went and bought a gas cap and now it clicks like it’s suppose to. My fuel consumption is way to high right now I have filled this car up with gas so many more times then any other vehicle I have owned. When I put fuel in you can smell the fuel for the next two days and every now and again you get a whiff of engine coolant smell and a burning smell I’m not sure what the burning smell is because I’ve never smelled it before. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. No one has inspected it still since my last complaint. And no there has been not a single warning light.

Acceleration system/ on highway at high speeds it stay accelerating at very high rpms as it shifts into the next gear and it is consuming a very large amount of fuel at the same time. It is available for an inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone. While driving on the highway at high speeds I felt it was putting my family and myself at risk of crash or engine failure or being stuck on the side of the highway.

The subject vehicle was take to dealer to address recall sc176. In this recall there is a flow chart instructing the dealer on how to repair the subject vehicle. This flow chart was clearly not followed. The dealer only performed the ecu logic improvement and did not replace the catalytic converter. The subject vehicle had trouble code p0420 before it arrived. The code was cleared while in the dealers care but returned 6 miles after the vehicle was picked up. Service manager nick was contacted, he said there were no stored codes however I provided documentation show the code was there and the check engine light was on when dropped off at the dealership. I believe this is a violation of NHTSA. Because the subject vehicle still has a defective catalytic converter that is manufacture defect.

Catalytic converter needed replacing at 100,000 miles! really!! I have never owned a car that needed a catalytic converter replaced before 200,000 miles! cheap product installed!.

The engine is leaking oil and got so hot that it melted the inside of the catalytic converter. This is a recall on 2015 kia Soul 1. 7 liter and not on my 2015 kia Soul 2. 0 liter. I had the car towed to the kia dealership, larry stovesand-carbondale IL, 5/7/21 to perform 3 recalls: pi2002b (knock sensor), sc200ps (engine inspect/bearing clearance test) and sc155b (pinion gear). The dealership service dept. Told me that they had to do the knock sensor and pinion gear recall before they could do the engine inspect bearing clearance test. They kept my car for 3 months, until 8/4/21 and told me about the melted catalytic converter, but still had not performed the engine inspect. I marked the tire with a rock on top to make sure that they did the test. After a week, I went to the dealership. They told me the car passed the engine test. I asked if the test was performed in the garage and I was told yes. I told the service personnel that my car had not been moved because I had marked it with a rock and that the rock was still in the same place on the tire. He said he was going to get the tech and immediately walked out, came back with a tech person that said that he had performed the test but that he had not put it into the system yet. I got the keys to my car and called my local mechanic and had him tow my car to his garage to replace the catalytic converter. The car had the same problems with knocking, hesitation, top speed of 60 mph, and using oil. My local mechanic said the pistons are leaking. I finally got the recalled documentation in the mail from the dealership and it showed they only performed pi 2002b & sc200ps recalls. They did not perform the sc155b recall even though they had the car for 3 months. The car stalled on the highway with my daughter driving. That was terrifying! now the car is back at kia for the engine test that I don’t think they did the first time. Now they said it passed the engine test again and only needs a knock sensor. That will not fix it!.

A recall was done for the catalytic converter recall work did not fix the problem the converter was replaced and 1 1/2 years later the converter melted and broke off inside which caused damage when it clogged the flow of air when I went to enter the freeway I lost all acceleration and had to be towed it took out the muffler the converter was replaced again and the muffler but the check engine light came on again after less than right hours from leaving kia when I returned it back to kia to have the check light read it was the timing chain intake outtake system which was most likely caused from the catalytic converter melting and breaking apart sending the sut in places that it shouldn't be in the engine.

I have a complaint about my 2015 kia Soul car service issue. Since I purchased the car in December 2021, my check engine and oil indicator light has been on. I took my car to a car repair shop, and was told that the engine oil is being sucked into the exhaust system and to take my car to a kia dealership. I scheduled a service appointment on 07/14/2021 and paid about $145. 00 for a diagnostic system check. I was told that my catalytic converter is blocked and the cost to replace the catalytic converter and labor would be about $2,000. I would have to pay another $145. 00 for another diagnostic system check about the engine oil issue. The overall car issue is that the engine oil is going into the exhaust system and causing blockage in the catalytic converter. The extended warranty that I purchased with my 2015 kia Soul from bob sight kia does not cover these issues and I don't understand why. I did some research and there was a recall {2019-02-21}, {recall number sc176} on 2015 kia Souls of the same car issues. I contacted kia customer service to inquire about the recall. The kia customer service representative stated that recall number sc176 was done on my kia Soul in June 2019, but it is not stated anywhere on my car's carfax report nor on the national highway traffic safety administration (nhsta) website. On the national highway traffic safety administration website it states, "whether a manufacturer independently conducts a safety recall or nhsta orders one, the manufacturer must file a public report describing the safety- related defect or noncompliance. " as I am driving, my car will stop running while I am accelerating while driving down a street and/or highway. The car also stop running when I am stopped at a streetlight. I believe that the recall sc176 was not performed on my car.

I purchased my car in March of 2020. A month after I had my car the brake pads wore out with no indication and the calipers broke. I called kia and explained what the issue was. They tried to blame my mechanic. I told them that their technicians had to have known the brake pads were low if they did a thorough inspection. I was laughed at. I told the man that I was going to report them to the better business bureau. He then told me to bring it to kia. I told him it was at my mechanics and I no longer trusted their technicians to do the work on my car. Had my breaks failed I could've had a very serious accident. June 24, 2021. I had my intake gasket repaired by my mechanic. My car drove fine until I was exiting the highway. It started to lose power. I barely made it off the highway when it stopped. I contacted my mechanic and they were able to get it started to get it back to the shop. After he took a further look at it, he advised me to contact kia to run a diagnostic which I did. They charged me $80. They then confirmed what my mechanic stated the issue was. Kia wanted to charge me over $1000 for the work. I don't trust them to do the work as well as not having the money. My mechanic repaired the vehicle but it was still doing the same thing. He spent hours trying to figure out what the issue was. He told me kia needed to find the issue. I contacted kia on July 7th and spoke to jack in their service department. I asked him to have his technicians call my mechanic so they could figure it out. Jack took my information and my mechanic's information and said he would have them call. No one called. I called back that same day around 3:45pm. First jack told me they were busy. I told him so was my mechanic. He then said they don't normally have technicians speak to mechanics. I told jack he should've told me that when I spoke to him previously. By that point I was very angry. I told him they need to fix my car and I wasn't paying for it and I won't.
