I was driving my car late at night heading home from a concert when smoke started coming from the hood. I was only going about 25mph and approaching a stop sign. I immediately stopped the vehicle and no sooner than. I could get my door open, it burst into flames. I had only been driving the car about 5 minutes when this happened.

My 2020 kia Soul, I only have it for 2 weeks and the fog lights got wet and foggy, I took the car the dealer and spoke to service, and order new parts, to install in the car, it really concerns me that a brand new car get these fog lights wet, which can cause a safety issue, since the light will not work properly with this lights foggy, dealer said it was due to humidity.

I was on the freeway, and all the lights lining the freeway were out. It was pitch black, and a cow had made its way into the middle of the freeway. It was struck by another vehicle and sent into the air, and flew right into my car. It is my understanding that one of adot's fences were down that was containing cattle. I was in a severe accident because of this, along with multiple other vehicles. I filed a police report and have that case number as well. I have photo and video evidence proof.

I have a totaled car due to a wreck. The airbags did not deploy even though the car was hit multiple times extremely hard.

Pulls to the right at highway speed - approx 45mph. Severe alignment problem. Dealer told me that they did have a new-enough machine to align the car. How can kia of irvine, not have the proper equipment to fix the cars they sell? inside rear cowling that goes around the small portal window on the right was warped from the factory. Car was not moving. Got a replacement part; however, it was a poor install job and the front part of the cowling does not align well with its lower connect piece. Right front tire is becoming severely worn because of alignment issue that can't be fixed. Exterior plastic cover on left-side a-frame pillar came from the factory scratched and lose. Kia of irvine will not fix it - they only want to buff the plastic. Not a proper fix because the part is still lose.

Wall triana hwy madison was being paved on Wednesday 2/27/19. They had sprayed some type of liquid tar on the road for prepping. My car is covered with the black substance and I am unable to get it off. It has covered my rear window and back of car. It is also on my side door panels and under my vehicle,tires and rims. This is a brand new car.

On December 9th, 2018 at approximately 6:10am, while driving to work on the highway, my car suddenly broke down and began to smoke. I pulled over to the side of the road and removed my important belongings. Within minutes my car was on fire. I notified city police, fire department, and insurance company. My car was ultimately destroyed and taken to a junk yard.

On 11/19/18 our 2015 kia Soul was parked in driveway at approx 4:30 pm after arriving home from work, 4 hours later in evening while watching tv at approx 8:33pm we heard a loud pop outside, we both ran to front door to see the kia Soul front end ingulfed in flames rising so high hitting roof of our garage. I called 911 while backing our other car out of driveway away from flames, while my husband tried to put out fire with extinguser and water hose. The firemen arrived and finished putting out fire but kia Soul was totaled. Kia dealership in sarasota FL has not offered any help or answers. We went online and see we are not the only ones that have experienced these kias bursting into flames. . . The manufacturer has to take responsibility! this is unacceptable! damage to our home was also done melting stucco, charing garage door and cement driveway where car burned. Our home is only 1-1/2 years old!.

Car was in good condition and well maintained according to manufacturer's service schedule. It was last serviced on 7/31/18 when it passed nys inspection. The owner was informed on 9/18/18 @ 7:03 pm by daughter that car started making a strange sound on 9/17/18. Planned to have dealer check out car on 9/19/18. On 9/18/18 @ approximately 8:35 pm, while being driven on the local portion of an interstate highway, the car's oil light blinked on and off. A few minutes later the check engine light went on. A few minutes later the car engine began to smoke and smoke came into the car through the air vents. The driver, my daughter's boyfriend, pulled over into the breakdown lane, turned off the car, got out, stepped away from it and the engine erupted in flames. By approximately 8:50 pm the car was totally engulfed in flames. The car looks like it was fire bombed.

Attempting to park: vehicle accelerated rapidly, brake failed to stop or do anything. Vehicle jumped over tire stop then 8" mall walkway hitting building and store window.

When turning car on it the engine makes a knocking sound. Car is losing acceleration on roads especially expressway. Also, the engine pings or knocks when turning the car off. I have even heard the engine knock while in motion. The front windshield molding garnish lh located on the driver side flew off while driving on the expressway and hit another car! losing this molding garnish causes air to leak into the windshield.

12/28/17 purchased car from kia dealership. 1/27/18 I was driving approx 50 mph down a county road and the drivers side windshield panelling flew off. The passenger side is loose as well. I am told no way to secure passenger side it just has to be replaced as well. Also noticed a loud screeching coming from driver side every time I apply the brake. 2/3/18 neighbor was driving behind me down a city street and called to tell me rear driver side tire appeared wobbly. 2/6/18 dealership said bad wheel bearing and replaced but still had not ordered panelling. Also said noise was fine it was just caused by metallic structure of brakes and have to deal with it. 2/7/18 the stereo will turn on but everything is back to factory presets and no sound comes out of speakers.

2012 kia Soul with less than 15,000 miles on it suddenly burst into flames and the car is a total loss .

Hood blew back broke my windshield and bent my fenders broke my the secondary latch is bent and the lock did not hold.

Hi I was looking at recalls for the Soul after I saw a possible fire hazard and actually typed my VIN in and saw my car was recalled for a steering issue that could've lead to accidents and I was actually in an accident in 2017 in my 2014 kia Soul because of something that happened with my steering that caused me to hit someone? a woman in front of me slammed on her brakes and when I tried to get over it's almost like the wheel had completely locked but up but I could still turn it, if that makes sense. There was a weird clunking noise when it happened and sometimes I still hesrit occasionally. I would like to know how to go forward with this. Thank you so much.

The hood disengaged while my 76 year old mother was driving down the highway and smashed against the windshield. The dealership said it happens sometimes and charged her $3,500 to fix it. It broke loose twice after that while she was driving but didn't fly up against the windshield. She took it in both times and they said nothing was wrong with it. I called kia customers service on 9/12 and they said they'd call me back in 48 hours but never did. I called back on 9/18 and they said they'd call me back in 48 hours but never did. I called back on 10/3 and they said they'd call back in 48 hours and then I finally received a voicemail on 10/15 asking to call them back. I called back and received the person's voicemail on 10/16, 10/22, 10/24 and 10/25. No response at all. They are ignoring me. I went online and found other complaints about the hoods disengaging on kia Souls. My mother is terrified to drive her car. This is a serious safety issue that could obviously kill someone. Yet kia doesn't seem to care. I don't know where else to turn.

As my wife was entering eastbound us expressway 83 (interstate 2) just west of minnesota road (approximate time 5:15 pm) the hood flew open and damaged the windshield and hood. The car was safely pulled over but the hood was so damaged that it had to be removed in order to drive the car home. The car had only been driven approximately 1. 5 miles from the house on the frontage road before getting onto the expressway when the incident occurred. Speed was accelerating to highway speeds of 60 mph but not yet at 60 mph. The vehicle was just getting on the overpass after entering the expressway and was traveling in a straight path on the entry lane barely merging into traffic before needing to pull over on the bentsen palm road overpass. . The hood had not been opened for at least 2 weeks when I last filled the windshield washer reservoir. It has been driven on the expressway at highway speeds during the last two weeks on a daily basis. It appears that the hood latch is broken. The latch is too far to the right and doesn't move back into a position to allow the hood to close.

5/6/2016 traveling on 2nd rd apprx speed 35 mph, hood flew up hit windshield lack of traffic avoided collision. Almost 1 year to day later on freeway entry ramp I-65 nashville TN, 5pm traffic, apprx 45mph. . 1st episode had left home and only on road for a few mintues so assumed was something we had done to unlatch hood. 2nd episode we had been traveling for 3 hours already so there was nothing we could have done to cause this. . We took to local dealer where purchased car when we returned to jackson tennessee and they examined and show it is a broken latch (obviously) but they did not feel was their concern. As there is already a recall on the same year kia sedona for hood latch defects, it is a major concern to me that this should be looked into to avoid injury or death of another individual.

The rear of the car is always filling up with water where the spate tire sits. The cat isn't water tight. This has occurred on many occasions.

The front door on the drivers side doesn't latch or lock completely when the door is closed/shut from inside. Many times when exiting the vehicle from the drivers seat I discover the door hadn't been latched at all because I can open the door without using the door handle, it will open with a slight push from my arm. I worry the door will open when it's moving causing an accident and injuries from falling out of the vehicle. A second safety issue with my kia Soul is the hesitation and slowness of acceleration when entering the freeway and merging into traffic. With the gas pedal pressed to the floor, a safe speed can't be attained for 2-3 minutes causing other vehicles to slam on their brakes, reduce speed or change lanes to avoid hitting the back or side of my vehicle. This is the reason I no longer drive on the freeway and take the long route instead. Thirdly, when backing out of a parking spot, the backup camera fails to engage about a quarter of the time and I must rely solely on sideview and rearview mirrors. Incidents occurred from a dead stop up to 50 miles per hour.

On 2/18/17 my daughter was involved in a front end collision in our 2016 kia Soul. She struck a stopped Toyota carolla at over 45mph on southbound I-5 in seattle wa. This was a direct front end collision and the airbags in the kia Soul did not deploy even though the metal bumper bar was completely bent in a "v" shape back beyond the radiator. Kia USA first claimed that this was due to under riding. Sent them daytime photos from the next day when we visited the car to remove personal items and they changed the story to "the air bag sensors are in the connecting pillars so this still would not have triggered the air bags. Kia USA is accepting no fault and it taking no action. Based on my research, this collision should have triggered both front airbags as both front seats were occupied by adults at the time of the collision. My hope is you can use this information and my photos to investigate this situation and resolve it with kia. From my point of view we experienced a complete failure of one of the cars main safety features, front driver and passenger airbags. You lose electric power you can't open the doors!! no way to get out of car!! was lucky one window was down!!all doors need to be able to open with out power< what if on fire or in water?? the car was setting in parking lot of walmart listing to radio and the bat ran down!!.

The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While parked, the contact observed that the rear license tag light bulbs were protruding out of its casing. The contact put the light bulbs back in place, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed the light bulb holder had stretched. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.

Passenger side front door lock would unlock intermittently initially for the first few years and now does not unlock at all when using the key fob and since there is no manual key-lock cylinder anywhere except on the driver-side door, this front door cannot be opened until after the driver's door is opened.

I was coming out of a red light intersection and when I tried turning to the left the car would not turn and kept going straight. It turned minimally and hit the curb scratching the 2 passenger side wheels (front and back). No airbags were deployed as I was only at maybe 20-30mph. As the car aligned with the road again I notice the steering is 90% impaired. I still manage to drive home as there were very few cars on the road but the car would randomly sometimes, very strongly veer to the right or left, making it extremely dangerous. I remember there was a recall letter I had received and when I got home I checked it out and it described exactly what had happened to "the pinion plug which secures the pinion gear to the steering gear assembly may loosen due to the use of adhesive with insufficient bonding strength during assembly. If the plug loosens sufficiently, the pinion gear may separate from the steering gear assembly which could cause loss of steering and result in a crash. ". I think in my case this pinion came completely loose and that caused the crash. The car was just towed to a kia dealership but now they will inspect and decide if that was the case or not. What if they simply decide they will say this was caused to something else and not the recall issue?.

While traveling at 55mph the hood released hitting the roof above the windshield. Caused damage to the roof, the hood and the fenders. Note that the hod had not been opened for over a month. Also note that the hood was in the fully closed position before starting out on the road on 11/20/2015.

Driving down the road and the hood latch broke causing the hood to fly up and wrap around the window shield. I had the presence of mind to move it to the side of the road and call for help. I was traveling app. 55 miles an hour, on a secondary paved road.

The contact called the dealer about the failure and was told that the hood latch was possibly defective. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. My son was in a rear-end collison in his 2015 kia Soul, that also pushed him into the person in front of him. My son was at a stop as well as the vehicle in front of him, when a mid sized SUV doing approximately 30-40mph slammed on her brakes and rear ended my son. The Soul's bumper went underneath the chevy tahoe in front of him. The airbags did not deploy. When police and ems showed up and asked him if he could drive it off the road, the vehicle started, but accelerator would not work. They pushed it off the road. After towing to the body shop, the owner said he didn't know why the airbags hadn't deployed because the electrical wiring harness had been severed in the crash. The towing company was hesitant to tow because he was afraid it may go off. The Soul had an estimate of $15,753. 75 in damage and therefore totaled. . . But his airbags never went off.

Was driving down an interstate on a July afternoon. Temperature in the mid 90's with ac set on 72. Driving with no cars around at 60mph and all of a sudden hear what sounds like a gun shot. I looked around to see if I could see anything wrong and did not see anything until I looked up. The panoramic sunroof had shattered completely. The roof fragments I could see was lifting outward. I called my haircut appointment to cancel and drove straight to the nearest kia dealership. On the way over, the small glass fragments between the actual broken fragments started to fall so I closed the sunshade. Also on the drive to the dealership, some of the broken glass fell out onto the road behind me. Its been 2 weeks and so far no news from corporate kia on replacing my sunroof.

My car was going approximately 50mph when it rear ended a stopped vehicle in the middle of a busy highway. Then my car was rear ended seconds afterwards. My car was scrunched (totaled), both front and back, and the airbags never deployed. Had the airbags deployed, the injuries to the driver would've been much less severe. I have huge concerns and doubts about the safety of this model. I don't think the airbags in this model propertly function.

Vehicle was traveling north at approximately 50 mph. Driver veered right accidently and went off asphalt surface into ditch. Vehicle rolled end over end twice and landed upright facing south on third rollover. Driver was wearing seat belts. Vehicle was damaged on both sides of front, top was crushed in, right front wheel bent into wheel well, windshield was shattered and caved in. There was damage to both sides of the vehicle and the hood. Driver was injured and transported by ambulance to hospital. The major complaint was that the air bags did not deploy to protect driver. Vehicle engineers from Kia Motors national consumer affairs inspected the vehicle and stated that air bags were not deployed in a rollover because car was not equipped that way. He reported that the air bags in front would have deployed in a front impact, the side curtain air bags would have deployed in a side impact. The car was considered a total loss and not repairable.

In April of 2015 I drove a half hour of highway driving to an appointment. I parked my car (with the ignition off). Walked into the building and within 1 or 2 minutes my car was engulfed in flames. 911 was called. The fire department came and put out the fire but car was totaled. My insurance CO. Hired a forensic specialist to determine the cause of fire for insurance purposes. The specialist was unable to determine the cause of this freak incident. I have pictures but don't know how to include them.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact had not experienced a failure. Pp.
