Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Kia Motor Soul - part 2

While driving on the highway at 60 mph, the vehicle started to feel like it was trying to go forward (thrusting) on its own. It then accelerated on its own to over 80 mph. I slammed on the brakes and pulled over and put it in park. The engine was revving in park. After kia roads on assistance couldn't send a tow truck,I thought I would be okay driving on the emergency lane the 2 miles home from the highway. As I put the car in drive, the engine was revving at 6 on the gauge but the vehicle wouldn't go over 20 miles an hour. It is at the dealership today. There were no warnings or lights or sounds. It all started with the slight thrusting of the entire car. I could have easily slammed into the back of another vehicle if it had been in front of me.

While sitting in line with brake applied the idle speed suddenly jumped up and car accelerated forward despite application of brakes. Without any change from me the rpms suddenly dropped and car stopped again. The car moved a total of a quarter car length, which had I not been angled away from car in front of me would have caused a collision, and had I been at an intersection could have caused an accident or struck a pedestrian.

Car would not accelerate over 35 mph and started knocking had to pull over to let other vehicles pass. Turned around went back home a 1/2 mile checked alternator current, added 1/2 quart of oil. Started engine knocking continued oil was low again after running engine a few minutes. No smoking from exhaust, no oil in radiator, no dripping or leaking oil.

I own a kia Soul. The catylitic converters went out. The car won't accelerate and the car got extremely hot. When I looked up kia Soul recalls it showed that there was a recall on the converters also that some kia Souls had gotten hot an caught on fire. I called parkway family kia. They told me that it wasn't an active recall and that they couldn't do anything. I then called demontrond kia and got the same answer. I talked with the service manager brian. What can I do to resolve this?.

Kia Soul base 2016 owner took to repair under warranty on 12/02/22 for the second time the catalytic converter and oil change because the check engine light was on and a kia technician update the codes. Today 12/22/22 the check engine light is on, driving in the highway it starts shaking and does not take acceleration it stalled without passing from 15mph putting my safety and the others at risk to cause an accident the power windows doesn't go up and when turn the steering wheel left or right the car is about to die and the breaks lights turn on and off working sometimes but flickering. The oil smells like gasoline and burns fast.

The engine is the system that is malfunctioned and yes it is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle accelerates at a slower pace than actual acceleration pressure put on pedal and then it lurches/jerks forward at a fast pace and then slows down and repeats that process over and over. Yes the problem has been confirmed. It has been inspected by the dealership. Yes the warning lamps that often illuminate are the check engine light and the oil light. They first appeared to my knowledge on 01/2020. I have been told numerous times by the kia dealership where I get the vehicle serviced as well as kia America inc. Corporate headquarters, that the engine has a malfunction and needs to be replaced. I attempted to have this problem fixed and I have missed work and spent thousands of dollars for this vehicle to work correctly.

Sudden acceleration (sua--3 times same day); almost went through storefront, almost hit by truck @ stop sign, almost hit fence in parking lot twice, had difficulty in highway traffic jam. Vehicle currently at dealership. Car and brakes became uncontrollable at slow attempt to park and in traffic jam; had to turn off ignition. Dealer and independent service shop have not been able to recreate condition, the manufacturer was advised but only test driven by the independent shop and the dealership. No warnings; independent service shop advised that the problem appeared to be in the electronic throttle control. Dealership will not investigate same until they actually experience the problem. There are many articles about this problem on line. This car was sold as "certified" by the dealer.

I had my kia in the shop for 2 months from August 22, 2022 until about the middle of October because it went into limp mode and they were waiting on kia consumer to ok a new engine because the dealership heard a knock. I was originally told my kia had a lifetime warranty on the motor but when it went into limp mode with 156. 044 miles on it they then said 150,000 mile warranty so I had to pay out of pocket to have the part fixed. I’ve have my car back less than a month haven’t even put a 1,000 miles on it and it’s went right back into limp mode in the middle of a four lane. Almost got rear ended because the speed bogged down to below 45mph. It’s throwing the same code as it didn’t previously.

On or about 10/11/22 while driving I completely lost control of the vehicle suddenly. I was unable to break or use my steering wheel. The vehicle rolled over twice and the front airbags failed to deploy.

My car just shut down out of the blue. There was no warning of any sort as far as anything showing that needed repair with my vehicle. It just started jerking one day. I took it to the kia dealership and they confirmed that it was due to the recall part but will not fix the part.

My 2015 kia Soul recently went out of service. One day last month my car randomly started stalling and shaking to the point of barely being drivable. There were no signs or dashboard lights. Thursday, September 15th, 2022, I took my car to a local repair shop and they ran a diagnostic that came back as a bad catalytic converter on Friday, September 16th, 2022. According to the mechanic, the converter nearest the engine had broken off and pieces of it had gotten into my engine and fuel line resulting in a need for a new converter and a complete engine flush. The mechanic pulled up a recall and suggested that the car be taken to the dealership as this particular issue should have been covered under that recall. He suggested that I no longer drive the car prior to getting it repaired for my and my children's safety as my engine could have blown up at any time and caught fire. Also on Friday, September 16th, 2022, I had the vehicle towed to the kia dealership in napleton mid rivers as advised by the mechanic. The car was towed to the dealership where I made them aware of the issue and I was advised they would have to perform a second diagnostic to confirm. Monday, September 19, 2022, I get a text message from dennis gearhart, a service advisor for kia - who informs me that their diagnostic came back showing that I need a replacement catalytic converter, oil change, and minor tune-up. Dennis advised me that the repair would cost over $2800 and would not be covered under the recall because I'm no longer under warranty and the recall was marked as done. Upon further questioning - I was advised that the service advisor in may 2019 did not perform a replacement under the recall because it "didn't need it" yet here I am less than 7 years after getting a new engine from kia and I'm being told to rectify an issue they were responsible for fixing and yet refuse to mitigate. They placed my and my family's life in danger due to the negligence of their staff!.

Catalytic converter is going out. Although apparently there was no recall for my car in particular but there has been a recall for the converter overheating and damaging the engine. Car no longer goes over 40 mph; meaning I can no longer use the freeway. Oil light comes on at least twice a month. Even after a oil change it comes right back on. Check engine light never goes off. Piston rod is damaged which then contributes to a oil leak. This has been happening over a 6 month time span. I call myself fixing one thing then something else more detrimental breaks.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v123000 (vehicle speed control) however upon having the vehicle inspected by a local dealer, she was denied service of the recall due to the ecu unit not responding. The contact was advised that the unit needed to be replaced before having service completed for the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,700.

Popping in steering when turning back and forth. Cruise and radio quit working.

Car wasn’t always turning over right away. When it would, sluggish acceleration meaning gas pedal to floor and slow acceleration. Could have caused major accident when crossing traffic or joining traffic. Car turned off when at busy intersection twice when idling. Could have caused to be rear ended. Auto shop cleaned terminal 6. Stated if happens again, go to kia to have board replaced.

Speed control may have misfunctioned. I do not really know. When driving, the car randomly drops down to 5 mph and continues on its own at 5mph. The only way to stop is to turn off the engine. The car is not safe to drive this defect puts me at risk and all the cars following me at risk. This defect has not been independently verified but it is easy to reproduce. Check engine was on due to problems with a multitude of engine sensors.

The contact owns a 2015 kia sol. The contact stated his mom was driving the vehicle on the expressway 55mph. The contact stated that vehicle did not accelerate and the speedometer was decreasing. The contact stated no warning lights illuminated. Then the vehicle return to normal and drove home. The vehicle was driven to a dealer and diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Engine light and abs light always on, kia hasnt explained this issue or expressed concern about it. . Engine randomly started leaking oil, blowing out white smoke, stalling out upon accelerating causing safety issue in traffic. Kia has had car for 2 weeks now with no answers to resolve. Being told the recall issue is "fine" I use my car for work and this unresolved issue is affecting my livelihood. This all began on 4-29-22 and am now being asked to pay for further testing for diagnostic purposes. Told there are no loaner vehicles and to rent one at my own expense.

My air bag, abs and brake lights all gave warnings at about the same time, as well as my speedometer going "haywire" on a cold start. I got a recall notice about my airbag (electrical problems) and took it in to parkway kia, and was told that the airbag was not part of the recall, and that it would cost $1000 to repair the lights, as several different sensors had gone out at the same time. Included was 5 or 6 repairs that had already been verified that I didn't need. If the dealership is using recall opportunities to push $1000s of unnecessary "maintenance" repairs on their vehicles, no one is going to trust those recalls and this is creating an unsafe driving environment for everyone. I contacted kia corporate and they stated each shop is "independently owned and operated" and "repairs can be declined. " kia is making a farce of this process and using your agency to perpetuate fraud.

While driving my vehicle all of a sudden in the middle of a busy road I lost power. My vehicle would no longer accelerate and came to a stop. Engine light came on. This caused a big safety risk to myself as well as others on the road due to my vehicle coming to a sudden and unexpected stop. The engine light came on, which was not on prior. I was just able to have my vehicle towed today to a kia dealership.

The series of events leading to my theory of what is wrong with my 2012 kia Soul: 1. Steering coupler replacement in March of 2021 left my steering wheel sideways instead of straight, air bag light remains on, and traction control light as well. The after-market (I assume) cruise control is automatically on when car is started. Must turn off manually. 2. U-joint connecting to steering column fell onto my feet while driving in December of 2021. I slid it back on, but it slipped off approximately 4 more times in the next month before it was strongly secured. 3. Alignment performed in February 2022. Approximately 2 weeks after the alignment, my car started stuttering, if you will, prior to shifting into third gear. Then, again, prior to each shift into the higher gears. It stalled a few times in response to this action. While accelerating, the car begins to jerk severely, as if the brakes are being pumped. It doesn't do this immediately, but only begins once it's warmed up. Several sensors have been replaced. Fuel filter replaced. It's a standard, but the transmission was replaced after I purchased it in 2018. After hooking up to the code scanner at the parts store, the steering tilt sensor is the code shown. My theory is this: when the steering coupler was replaced leaving my steering wheel in the turned position, and then aligning it with it in the wrong position, that threw the tilt code. Maybe it's jerking because it thinks I'm turning when I'm not, and it could possibly be engaging the abs to slow me down while it thinks I'm turning. Would I be wrong in assuming that if I get the steering wheel straightened, get another alignment, and clear the steering tilt sensor, my car will act normal again? I am uncertain what system or part failed, but it is definitely available to be inspected. I could have died when the u-joint fell off if I hadn't been almost to a stop sign every time. The problem continues, but has not been addressed or confirmed by a dealer.

The check engine warning light illuminated and was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where two unknown recalls were completed. The mechanic informed her of error code p1326: ksds failure (knock sensor detection system). Additionally, the bearing was not fractured and the mechanic unable to proceed. There was a claim filed for an engine replacement which was denied. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was due to the engine and power train. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The car lost power suddenly while I was on highway I had a semi truck almost hit me it's the second time it's happened and I had to replace catalytic converter twice and I just got it back from kia dealership in hurst TX it's still making the ticking noise I heard after they replaced the catylic converter the first time they also didn't look into finding out why my kia Soul is using so much oil it burns up fast like in three days from an oil change I'm almost out completely I feel like I would like it if you guys could give me a more reliable car I have a child and I can't keep losing all power while on the highway.

Acceleration system/ on highway at high speeds it stay accelerating at very high rpms as it shifts into the next gear and it is consuming a very large amount of fuel at the same time. It is available for an inspection. It has not been inspected by anyone. While driving on the highway at high speeds I felt it was putting my family and myself at risk of crash or engine failure or being stuck on the side of the highway.

Catalytic converter, slipping gears, slowing down on hywy putting me at risk for rear end collision . Has been inspected by manufacturer and been confirmed. Saw recall on this on cars. Com engine light started 1 yr ago.

While driving to work in my 2018 kia Soul on 10/16/21 vehicle has a significant hesitation pulling away from a stop sign/red-light. A very slight knocking noise could be heard. The oil light flickered on and then immediately went off. Next thing I know while doing 65 on the highway the oil, engine, and battery lights all lit up then suddenly power to the vehicle was gone! I managed to get the vehicle off the highway onto the shoulder of the road where I watched smoke pouring out of the engine bay. My vehicle only has 69059 miles. The 2. 0l motor that is subject to many other recalls and issues is the same as what is in my Soul. . I've only had this car for less than two years! kia refuses to do anything about it!!.

On several occasions now the vehicle has sped up on its own while parked. Thank goodness I had my foot on the brake but as soon as I let go of the brake, it went fast without my peddle on the gas. I stopped it with the break peddle and it did it again once I let go of the brake peddle. It usually takes a couple of times for the car not to do that. Also, the oil light hasn't warned me that the oil is low. The motor began rattling while I was near work and I stopped the vehicle. Someone helped me and told me that there was barely any oil in the engine. So, we added oil but now it's always rattling. It has also stalled while going up a hill. That's happened on two occasions. I believe I may have a lemon in my hands. Kia has yet to accept that it's still under warranty and they keep brushing me off.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

My newly permitted driver was driving when after crossing highway my car all of sudden was halted to an almost complete stop. The motor stalled in the middle of the highway, thankfully no oncoming traffic was coming. I took the vehicle to mechanic and they said I could have a recall on catalytic converter, called dealership and they state that my car was not in the recall. However my car did exactly what the recall states. Now I'm looking at anywhere from 2000-3000 to fix my car is only 5 years old with 75,000 miles. I'm a very dissapointed customer as I was looking to purchase the new telluride however I think I will stay clear from all kia products. Concerned customer la.

My car started making a loud noise and the car would not accelerate as I was returning home on the highway. I was driving home on I-75 south when my car started to slow down and it was very hard to accelerate and was making a loud noise. I made it to the next exit off sharonville rd and made it into a gas station. I opened the hood to check the oil and it was extremely hot and smoking. I had to wait until it cooled off and put in some oil to try to make it on home. The check oil light was not lit which didn't even provide any indication that my car was out of oil during the 1/2 hour drive. I do not feel safe to drive this car, since this incident. I took it for auto repair immediately the next day. Please help with assistance with this issue.

It suddenly didn't want to turn and made me wreck it and bent the tie rods or something.

When pulling out into traffic the car started to go, rpms spiked all the way and the car just died… I shut it off, and all was fine…. Then I stopped to get gas, and when the auto stop/start kicked in, the car didn’t restart… the oil pressure light turned on, battery light, and check engine light all at the same time. Would not let me shift into park. I had to push the shift release to let me put it into park. I was then able to shut off the car properly and start it just fine, and no lights active. This all happened around 19,000 miles. The last 2 times I’ve been in for an oil change, there has been 2 recalls completed , and now this new recall related to the oil piston.

Recall sc200 engine compartment fire safety hazard. While driving after I got off the interstate and got off on my exit, I heard a knocking noise in engine, then oil light and engine light came on, I get my oil changed on the regular, smelled really hot had to turn off the car it scared me because it also started to deaccelerate would not go over like 30 40 mph. The noise was terrible I was so scared the engine was going to explode I had to have it towed. Now after the kia consumer told me multiple times they approved the engine replacement the dealership had some issue due to an ecu ksds update that I was not notified of and it was never preformed. So she apologized by telling me the information that was previously provided mutiple times was incorrect and I would need to pay out of pocket. I read over the sc200 engine inspection test recall letter. It actually states they will preform the ksds ecu software update in addition to this recall. Not the other way around. Sent another escalation because this is not fault of my own the car is broke down and also not my fault they gave me the wrong information (so they say. ) regardless they should replace it because they already told me it was approved to be fixed and for a rental. I have still not gotten any thing. I am completely.

So even since I have had the car it sometimes would hesitate when I would accelerate and I would sometimes feel like I was pressing the gas and getting little to no actual response from the vehicle. Then a few days ago my engine blew with no warning sign, my oil and coolant were empty even though I know all my fluids were fine. I do commute to work and I know that's harder on a vehicle but none of my other cars which have all been older models have ever given me an issue like what happened to me with this one. Seems odd if anything. When I was starting up my car leaving work it just randomly started with the noises and then the entire way home it got worse I did not drive it after that I tried everything to get it to the dealership however it had to be towed there. I noticed a bunch of fluid coming out on my parking lot when we got it moved, not sure what caused any of this or how my engine blew.
