Driver's seatbelt often fails to lock in and pops open mid-drive. It is often not apparent that the belt hasn't locked until it pops open. This would be especially dangerous in an accident.

The drivers side seatbelt on my kia Spectra 2009 locks up once in a while so I cannot put my seatbelt on. It will lock no matter if I'm pulling slowly or fast. I am not stepping on the break when it locks. The car can be moving or stationary when it locks. This happens 5 times out of 10 when I am in the car. It is a big safety hazard!.
2007 kia Spectra. Consumer writes in regards to replacement/repairs of damaged vehicle seat belts. The consumer stated she had t pay $500 to get the rear seat belt replaced.

Takata recall I own a 2009 kia Spectra I've had it since 2014. I moved & about a year ago my airbag light came on the car was stationary I went to get came back in my car & noticed it was on. I didn't think anything of it because where I lived you didn't have to do vehicle inspections. Not too long after my seatbelt kept locking & in the last several months it completely locked on me. I'm in the process of moving & I took my car to get a vehicle inspection because the state I will be living in you have to be able to pass inspection. I was told I wouldn't pass the inspection due to the airbag light being on & my seatbelt being locked. I called several dealerships & they are trying to make me pay all these different prices to fix it the least I've been told is about $700 just to install a new seatbelt. I'm a single mom & I can't afford this. . This is unsafe !! I was looking up how to fix my seatbelt & came across a lot of individuals who were having this same issue & I want to know if there is a recall because this is a safety issue for my child as well as myself.
The back seal belts stop working. They will not come out no matter what I try. They have been doing this since I got the cat in 2012. But now they won't come out at all. Also the blower for the a/c or heat stopped working. I had to slam my hood for it to come on but now it completely stopped coming on.
Dashboard airbag light illuminated, and nothing I tried--scanner, calling the dealer, and inspecting it myself--seems to be addressing the issue. I see multiple people are experiencing simpler symptoms. The light illuminates as usual upon ignition and shuts off as normal. It then comes back on around 10 to 20 seconds after the car starts, and it does not shut off until I turn off the car. The it sounds like a warranty issue.

The seat belt buckle housing fell apart and with it, the inner workings of the buckle stopped working. No abuse or misuse was involved. We got into the car one day, buckled the buckle and the housing fell apart. It would still buckle for a few days, then all of a sudden it won't accept the seat belt anymore so we had to replace the buckle with a used part from a junk yard. I've read this with a lot of kia Spectras, and it should be recalled.

I own a kia Spectra 2009 at the beginning of the month the airbag light on the dash came on and stays on. The airbag light that is in the center console for the passenger seat (which indicates if on/off) is not working at all. Called kia and spoke with a representative and was told because of the mileage the warranty not cover this. Took it to the dealer and the cost of the seat replacement is going to $1637. 31. By the looks of this it is an ongoing problem with certain models for kia. I can not justify this amount for the passenger seat replacement. Was also told by the representative that it would be forwarded to a manager to see if any assistance could be offered for the replacement of the seat. In the state that I live in this vehicle will not pass state inspection.
I was driving on hwy 40 e approaching exit 153 in heavy rainfall. Approximately 0. 25 miles from the exit the truck already on the exit ahead of me began applying its brakes. Pre-braking measures were taken. The wheels locked up and I collided with the truck in front of me and flew forward into the steering wheel. I had been braking the entire time, but my seat-belt did not lock into place. My airbag did not deploy. I suffered bruising, severe headaches, and minor cuts as a result. Insurance declared car as total loss.
My vehicle has had multiple problems over a 4 to 5 month period to start around the start my passenger side door handle broke, next my seat belt sensor shorted out, after that my air bag light came on after taking it in to the dealer I was informed I had not only faulty wiring in my vehicle but that my passenger side air bag was defective when it was installed and took four years to be caught unfortunately this all didn't occur in my first year of ownership and I couldn't claim the lemon law. Because now the company expects me to replace all of the faulty equipment they installed into a vehicle they told me was "safe and reliable" and now I'm riding in vehicle that I had someone who works for kia tell was "slapped together and I was lucky my car hadn't fallen apart yet". After leaving the dealership the cd player in my vehicle decided that it to was going to short out and now this is another repair I'm sure ill be expected to pay for.

I started to have issues with my seat belt's and I called the dealer and took it in and they said they couldn't find an issue I continue to have problem's took it back several time's and they said the same thing now my seat belt's in the back of my car do not work at all I took it back and they said it was out of warranty that I would have to pay for it. Then after that I started having an issue with my passenger side seat and air bag the light on the dash next to the clock wouldn't go off or it just flickered and the air bag icon with the person on it came on and hasn't went off I told them about this issue as well and the said they couldn't find a problem but now that the light next to the clock has gone out and the person icon with the air bag on my dash just stay's on I took it to them and they said I would have to buy a passenger seat for $1,900. 00 because my warranty for that part was up. I feel that they should fix these issues because they are a safety issue and I transport small children in my car.
The front passenger seat belt female fastener and assembly was found to be no longer secured to seat or car on further investigation it was found that the 1 bolt that holds the bracket to the vehicle had come fully out allowing the bracket to be pulled out.

The floor mat on the driver's side of my 2007 kia Spectra will not remain anchored. Although I'm writing this complaint in 2009, this has been a problem since I bought the car in 2007. I recently brought the car in to the dealership to fix the door locks (which lock on their own immediately after you unlock them) and I brought mat issue to the attention of the service department while there. They proceeded to push the mat back into the anchor (like I haven't tried that hundreds of times in the last two years?), but it was out again within a day - so they have not fixed this nor appear to want to address it. I view this as an unacceptable safety issue and after seeing a news report tonight about a major fatal accident involving a similar problem with a Toyota I am determined to get this addressed by the dealership! on the note about the door locks - I will be bringing it back for the fourth time to address that problem next week. I also wanted to point out, that I had a safety concern with my old 2000 kia sephia years ago where the driver's side seatbelt wouldn't stay latched if you just tugged on the belt a little. The dealership (a different one) refused to replace it (because my warranty had expired) and wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars to fix it. I filed a complaint and the usdot highway safety division paid to replace them as long as I sent the old components to them so they could test the latch. Shortly thereafter, the seatbelts to both front seats were recalled and I went back in to get my passenger latch replaced under this massive recall. I am very disappointed to find that kia is still not stepping up to the plate on safety issues without having to get regulatory bodies involved! this is a great way to ruin customer loyalty in someone who gave them a second chance!!!!.
We have now had a second failure of the passenger side seat belt. It now lacks a retract, as well as a locking mechanism and is completely useless. Now also, two months out of warranty.
: the contact stated while driving 30 mph the contact rear ended another vehicle. The airbags did not deploy, the seat belt did not restrain the occupant. Minor injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard were it was deemed totaled. The manufacturer has been alerted.

About a week after I purchased this vehicle I started having problems. The rubber weather strip came off and continues to come off after a week after I bought it. I needed to put oil in the car 2 months after I go it, it was almost out of oil. I went to get my oil changed a few months later at kia of columbus GA, and asked would they top off all fluids and they replied yes. Less than 3 weeks later I had to get my oil changed again and I needed transmission fluid. I have had a constant problem with my brakes squeaking since about after the first week. They have repeatedly told me at kia of columbus GA that my brakes were fine. My brakes continue to squeak. The light inside the car when the door is open, comes on by itself when all the doors are closed. The light on the ceiling of the car has to stay in a permanent off position, or the light will come on by itself. My car has been kicking back when you put it in reverse while making this groaning noise when in reverse. My seat belt also seems to pull in a locked position sometimes when I am at a red light, I am sitting still, not making any sharp turns for this to happen. I have had nothing but problems with this kia since I bought it.
