I purchased my kia used, from a dealer, less than a year ago, and it passed the electronic systems check for vehicle inspection. I immediately had to have dealer replace the gasoline tank after smelling gasoline. This car is used solely for light usage to transport myself and my children to and from dr's and grocery stores. After owning the car for less than two months, check engine light came on, reporting issue with catalyst. Found a recall on this issue and am trying to get original dealer to fix. Now experiencing loss of power to engage inclines or hills, causing a hazard to other drivers. Also back brakes simply "blew"! without any forewarning, with my children in the car, I lost all braking abilities. Thank goodness I was not going fast and have a standard to quickly downshift. My mother was killed due to loss of brakes, and it was an absolute panicking situation for me emotionally. Being a single mother I rely on mechanics to do all my work, and I had just had all my fuel levels topped off and my pads checked, without any issue found. I have also had an intermittent issue with the front seat belts remaining engaged. The dealer warranty expired and I am stuck with recalls nobody seems to want to fix!.
We noticed yellow streaks over time on the hood where the engine block and radiator are positioned. I have never had any trouble with overheating or any other problem of that nature. But eventually the clear coat began peeling and chipping in several different places on the hood where major engine components are located and now I am left with huge spots on my hood where the clear coat is missing. The underhhood insulation is in perfect condition. I assume there is a defect in either the clear coat itself or the insulation which prevents the heat from damaging the hood has failed to do so. I do not understand how this could possibly happen. The vehicle is only a 99 model kia Sportage. It has only 93,000 miles on it. I have had recent recalls repaired and I am in hopes that this information will help to prove a defect in the hood insulation or the clear coat.
Immediately after purchasing this used vehicle, it would sputter and die when applying pressure to the gas. This usually happens in the middle of an intersection. I would take it back to the dealership. They would allegedly fix the problem than the next day it would do it again. I had pocession of the vehicle a total of 5 days during my first month of ownership. It was in the shop the other 25 days. It has been several months later and it is having the same problems.

The vehicle would not start at all. Engine light appeared on dashboard. Dealership was aware of the problem.
Not only has the proportional braking valve failed,but also engine temp sensor,causing transmission failure, engine light came on,and hold light for the trasmission come on, and now the power window gets stuck open. We smell a faint smell of wire insulation burning,but service dept. Said they couldnt do any thing until the brake light came on and stayed on. He said there was a short in the wiring harness. This makes twice.

Manufacture is not providing proper information on failure. Still the vehicle is stranded at a workshop.
Engine check light keptcoming on while driving. Taken vehicle to dealership & mechanic repaired it each time. Engine check light would come on again. Finally was informed the electrical system was the problem & no corrective solution was found.
While pulling out of the garage vehicle stalled, and the garage door fell down onto the roof of the vehicle. Also, alternator and the battery went completely out. Engine check light was on for a week. In addition, when shifting gears, transmission wasn't shifting properly. Passenger's side window was jammed and stuck half way up. Finally, when applying the gas pedal there was a pounding noise, and no power within the vehicle.
Engine check light comes on, indicating a problem with system which may cause a crash. Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem. Also, manufacturer never notified consumer of two recalls on this vehicle. Please provide further information.
Engine check light keeps coming on which is a reoccurring problem. Also, due to defect vehicle has stalled twice; once in reverse gear, and in drive gear. Dealer had vehicle on numerous occasions, and claimed that a sensor was the cause.
Headlights are going off then come back on. Engine check light and hold light for transmission coming on then going off.
Engine check light came on the dashboard more then once. Front brakes were leaking brake fluid. Dealership replaced the rotors and brakes pads.
Recall 99v325000 work was corrected. Since recall work was done engine check light illuminated on the dash. Consumer contacted the dealer. Dealer noted that recall problem has failed and wires went bad. Also, air bag light was illuminating on the dash. Please provide any further details.
