The contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 19v101000 (engine) and 23v652000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer, a second dealer, team kia of el cajon (619-444-7200), and a third dealer, kearny mesa kia (858 223-3131) were contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and a case was opened. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I had the check engine light come on my kia around September 2023. It stayed on and did not flash or anything. I had a hard time accelerating in car. I took it to get fixed on December 19,2023. They said it was the electronic wastegate actuator and I got it replaced. A month after that I was on the high way and all of my car lights came on the dashboard and a cloud of black smoke came out the exhaust pipe. I pulled over and got my car towed to dealership. They told me this time it was the engine. My car was held for 1 month to fix the engine. I have spent so much money in this car and I think this recall has alot to do with my issues with it.
A combination of the risk of fire with the electrical component and lack of resolution to repair said recall and a faulty engine has left me in a bind. Due to the recall and its lack of resolution I am unable to get the engine repaired because the recall has left the repair shops unwilling to take the risk of fire while repairing the vehicle.
Drive the car for a certain amount of time (20 mins) park and then drive it again 20 mins back home when it’s already parked smell to burn. What I do? I need the car to drive to work and back home.
The engine light came on and it started making loud noise, then the car started pulling on its own and it stop in the middle of the road. My safety issue was I had to keep my driver hood open so other visible drivers could know my car had an issue. Later on, that day I took my car to the mechanic and the mechanic said I have an oil leak and that's why my car started acting like that. The mechanic told me my car was ready to go, so I paid him and left thinking my car was fine. I drive 6 miles away from the car shop and my car broke down in the middle of the road. So, I had to call the tow truck people to tow my car until I could really find out what's wrong with my car.
2011 kia Sportage engine stalling/failure. Has been having oil pressure/heating/oil feed line/consumption issues. Taken to a kia dealership on multiple occasions for all routine maintenance, including every 3000 oil changes. Owner was told that a catalytic converter was needed in 2021 due to engine stalling/ failure while driving 55-60mph on highway to a rapid deceleration and vehicle would go >20mph. Owner had car towed to kia dealership and had a new catalytic converter put on in 2021 by dealership. Then in 2022 same engine stalling occurred again. Taken back to dealership and was told car needed waste gate actuator replaced. Owner agreed to cost/repairs. Then during repair was told that another catalytic converter was needed due to sludge/clogging, when one was put on less than 1. 5 years prior. With less than 20k miles on new one. Car engine continues failing and will not accelerate above 20-25 mph. Check engine light has come on and been diagnosed numerous times from 2018, when oil issues started to 2023. Both dealership and manufacture are aware of recurrent issues.
No check engine light on. Driving down highway when car jerked hard, coasted to side of the road. Lights, radio, dashboard lights, window controls all work. Towed to mechanic was told engine needs to be replace.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. The contact received notification of the NHTSA campaign number: 19v101000 (engine). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unsure if there were any warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and of the recall notification. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pressure switch, oil pan, and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a follow-up call would follow; however, the contact had not received a response. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The check engine light blinked and I lost power as I was driving. They replaced my engine and now I have 6 lights on my dash.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle shut off as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact managed to coast the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway. The contact made multiple attempts to restart the vehicle but every attempt failed. Due to the excessive heat and with a new born baby inside the vehicle, the contact called authorities for assistance. The authorities could not provide the adequate assistance needed to handle the matter; therefore, she called her husband. Her husband was able to call a neighbor who came to assist the contact with her children. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it had yet to be diagnosed or serviced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rod bearings failed and the engine seized. The contact related the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.
Was driving home when car had it’s check engine light start flashing and car wouldn’t come up to speed. Went by local auto zone to check code given and it was associated with the ksds recall update and the car is now in limp mode. Towed car to peak kia where it’s been for almost two months. They wanted me to tow it to arapahoe kia since they had previously replaced the engine (see complaint from 2019) and it now needs replacement again but it’s not covered under warranty again according to them since it’s a 2011 kia. Not putting another cent into this car after paying over 7500 to replace the first mpi engine if kia won’t cover replacement of faulty engine someone can have the car to investigate the engine issues and hold them accountable, be it the NHTSA or a lawyer. Kia even did the software update that put the engine in limp mode and still won’t do anything to cover a known defect.
The engine malfunction light came on and the vehicle began seizing. It would no longer go any faster than about 20 miles per hour. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety was jeopardized as I was driving 60 miles per hour on the freeway and the light came on and the vehicle immediately began to lose speed. The issue was inspected by the dealership that I had the vehicle towed to that I normally service my vehicle. There were no symptoms or warning lamps prior to this incident. The dealership said it was a "bearing clearance issue". I contacted kia directly and they have offered $500 of goodwill assistance towards a $5k replacement of the engine.
Engine failed while driving.
123000 miles started knocking and engine seized. Car is garbage.
I was driving 65mph on the freeway and all of a sudden I have no power. I press acceleration to the floor and it done nothing. Code p200a intake manifold code p420 exhaust manifold I couldn’t go no faster than 25/30 mph on an incline. I live in west virginia so there’s inclines every few miles. I’ve been looking on the internet and I’m not the only one that is experiencing this. It needs to be fixed ASAP. And dealership’s charge an arm and a leg for things like this. The parts alone are expensive. I believe it is going to get worse before it gets any better. So my opinion and many others say it needs to be a recall on the 2011 kia Sportage 2. 4l i4 fi dohc 16v. Thank you for your time.
My car stopped running while in use. My brakes worked but not my gas. I could not accelerate and was in danger of being hit.
Was driving in cruze crontrol stepped on the gas and vehicle died. I pushed the start button nothing but a warning sign on dash screen that would go blank before I could see what it said. I lifted the hood and check the battery cables they were on tight got back in the truck push the button nothing smelled wires burning seen smoke top of my motors on fire. I was heading north on I-5 near the dupont exit.
Engine is broke.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. While the contact was pulling into the driveway, the vehicle would not shift into park. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to kia of bedford (18180 rockside rd, bedford, OH 44146, (440) 735-400) where it was diagnosed that the battery was defective. The contact was informed that they repaired the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that it needed a new engine and transmission. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v101000 (engine); however, the dealer never informed the contact of the recall and stated that she would be financially responsible for all repairs on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 86,000.
My engine has metal shavings coming up. Should this be a recall? I was driving when I heard all kinds of noises. I was going about 30mph.
I originally brought my vehicle in for service for a noise coming from the timing chain area which sounds like slack in the chain at 1100 rpms and the worst being with the engine cold. I have had the timing chain and guides, a few sensors, and camshaft phaser replaced chasing this noise and a few thousand dollars in; my mechanic now hears a noise coming from the engine in the lower part of my third cylinder. He believes it should be part of the 17v224000 campaign but my VIN does not show up on the recall. My mechanic does a lot of over flow work for our local kia dealership and I tend to believe him.
Entering expressway problem excellerating to safely enter highway.
Engine light came on, smelled smoke, and thought I saw smoke coming out from where the engine is located, this happened while I was driving home from work. I was on my way to grocery store. I came out of store to leave and car would not start. Car will not stay running unless you use gas pedal and brake at the same time. I was able to drive it to the dealership 3 weeks ago! it is still in the shop. I have gotten the run around as to exactly what the problem is, they said the timing chain was way off, and they also ordered other parts kia "approved" but tried to order more parts that they thought would help my car so the man said but kia denied the request for those. I do not have an itemized list yet of specifics. The car only had 67,000 miles on it when this happened. Yes, I have the 100,000 mile limited warranty and will fight them tooth and nail if they attempt to charge me a dime for an engine problem. It was always in the shop for routine maintenance when needed. I am concerned this is one of the vehicles even though it is not on your list of dangerous kia's. Dealership has told me it was probably the timing chain that gave off the "fire" smell and there would be a bit of smoke. I do not know if this is true. I have attempted to reach out to kia and get some answers but I am getting the runaround there as well. I wanted to start this early just in case. I will find out on Monday if the car is fixed, and at that time I should have paperwork to send to you. Help! how are we supposed to know if this is one of the old engine recalls I saw happened a few years back that I was not informed about? or if the 2011 lx Sportage is a fire hazard vehicle as well?.
Has happened several times. Will be driving and the engine doesn't pull like normal just happens whenever no warning. Driving interstate or county roads speeds typically between 50-70mph. The rpm goes down to 0 and engine won't race if you give it gas. If I'm at a red light it will noticeably sputter. I usually have to find a safe place to pull off the road turn the car off and back on. This has been a quick fix. I want to know if there's a recall but I have not received anything in the mail.
The engine is running rough. I hear knocks and pings when I try to go over 50. Local city driving the engine is calm. Recently had new spark plugs put in. Gas mileage has really not improved. I have concerns that this engine will seize up. I am now reading about sc147. I checked with my local kia dealer and there is no immediate recall for this vehicle. I have set an appointment for April 10th to do further diagnostics. The local dealer seems to not care which worries me before even taking this car in.
My wife was driving down the road new years day, and the lights flickered and the engine died. After getting it towed to a garage, they told us the motor was blown. We then called kia USA and they informed us to have it towed to a kia dealership and to inform the dealership to follow their instructions they had from kia USA. So we towed it to a dealership in our area and let me tell you, this has been the worst experience I have ever had. The dealership is not helpful, they have talked down to my wife, making her cry, and they told us that they have preference for people that bought their car from them. We didn't buy it from them, so apparently, it's alright to treat us like we are complete morons. We are now down a car and the dealership has no empathy and could care less. We need help.
My car with 87,942 well maintained miles all of a sudden blew the engine and caught fire. Recall on certain models with the same year with cam bearings letting go internally. I'm still currently paying on the vehicle. I got ahold of kia national motors and they seemed like they were going to help me fix problem or give decent trade in value, that was six months ago. One of my children needs to make doc. Appt. Every other weekend. I'm getting very perturbed with the whole situation. The company won't even let me know what there doing,I told them just let me know what your plans are so I can at least take a lose" witch is real crappy" but I need to get a vehicle but they will not get ahold of me.
I feel my vehicle is accelerating by it self sometimes it jerks when I am in freeways I feel vibrating engine when is stationary it's the second time when I stopped a red light and my vehicle turned it self without warning I don't know what is going on.
My car is having issues related to recall sc147. I understand this recall was issued recently, but my VIN does not show the recall when I research it. I'm worried that I will be declined service simply because my VIN doesn't show up in the database. What can I do to get my vehicle serviced? can you add my VIN to that list?.
Engine seized with out warning, while driving on highway at 60mph.
Due to the inability to start my 2011 kia Sportage one day, it was brought in for a diagnostic which determined that the timing chain had come loose resulting in major engine damage. The list of problems is very long (gaskets, bolts, spark plugs, timing chain, valves, cylinder head, etc. ) and if this were to happen while driving - it could have resulted in an accident. The repair shop says this is not the first 2011 kia Sportage engine they have repaired with this same issue, and believes it is happening possibly due to poor engine design (and may happen again in the future even with the best parts). The vehicle was stationary when the problem was discovered, so there were no injuries as a result.
I'm trying to check if my vehicle was recalled cause it's been driving really weird and then I heard that 2011 kia Sportage were being recalled and trying to find out if that's what's causing the problems.
One day my ex wife drove what is now my 2011 kia Sportage home, which she said ran fine up until that point. The next day she went out to start it and from the sound it was making the bottom half of the engine was turning and the top half was not, which we have verified that slack appears to be present in the timing chain upon taking the valve cover off to inspect. I am seeing hints of engine recalls on this year kia on this website and am worried that my car may be one of an unidentified batch of cars that have had that problem, which if I continue to fix the timing chain on my car would likely repeat the problem in the near future as if this is true the underling problem would not have been fixed. This car has been parked for over two years as I have not been able to get this repair completed yet.
Everyone I know there bluetooth will not work. Most important the check engine has been on every time and it saids that is oxygen sensor it gets fix with in 7 months comes back again with the same issue.
