Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle smoke was present coming from under the hood before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer lancaster county motors(5250 main st. East petersburg PA)who diagnosed that the motor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who indicated that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA recall campaign number 19v101000(engine). Approximately seven months after the failure had occurred the owner had recieved a noticed indicating the VIN was included in the recall. The failure mileage was 150,000. Jft.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2017

The contact owns a 2011 kia Sportage. While driving 60 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer (james wood Hyundai 2110 us-287 decatur, TX 76234) informed the contact to have the vehicle inspected by the kia manufacturer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
