The contact stated that while at a scheduled oil change, the contact was informed by the local mechanic that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil, causing damaged to the engine rods. The check oil warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle was not repaired due to the cost to replace the engine. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
